Do we really think Laura Moon carried him off so she could bury him ? Naaaaah. Shes going to give him his coin back and use the potion on herself. And now that Sweeneys pact with Odins over.. he is free to embrace his godlihood again. As the SUN God 'lugh'.
i think laura is gonna use the potion on him .....i feel she wouldnt want him to slowly rot away.. in the books she dies at the end.. might have a similar tragic fate here

Thing I love most about Sweeney is that his story isn't about "saving the princess" or anything like that, it's his self redemption arch. Finding himself again, remembering who and what he is; Mad Sweeney, the leprechaun god king. In the end, he knew exactly who he was, forgave himself, found himself and his honor and he left that one eyed bastard with the best line he could've given with 2 mighty middle fingers.

Mad Sweeney is the best character in the story. When I first saw him I thought he was an asshole, and just an antagonist. Now I love him, and I was a foot away from my Tv at the end of season two nearly crying. lol... His backstory was the best episode so far.
so doyle has sweenies coin and sweenies coin kept laura alive doyls goin was given to shadow by Ganeshi before he sunk in the lake after finding the missing childrens bodies this is why he survived the ordeal i guess. as Wednesday took DOyls coin. very weird that coins are some how very powerful artifacts in this reality i'm still trying to work out whats been shoe horned in to the TV show thats not in the books. i'm waitng for the death ritual which should be the last episode this sunday.

One of the best characters I have seen on TV in such a long time - I adore every bit of Mad Sweeney and I am so glad his story was extended way beyond his role in the novels! What an excellent progression and character development and my heart was breaking for him even in his most asshole-ish of moments. I hope it isn’t he last of our Irish Mad King but I fear that was his story arc :(

A few years ago I was talking about how I wanted to be taller, a redhead, have a really great copper coloured beard, and a few other things, that won't get into. Then I watched American Gods and realized I wanted to be Mad Sweeney. Tall, buff, Irish, ginger. I'm an average height Canadian with brown hair and eyes. And somehow buff and skinny and in possession of a pot belly at the same time.
Of all the inspired casting choices in this series, Pablo Schreiber's is the most surprising since he gives the wackiest performances balancing drama and comedy with equal skill. Nice comp video... and the choice of NIN's "Hurt" was pretty inspired as well!

@@homunculi0408 the problem comparing to the book is the difference in likeability. I'm not saying the book Sweeney isn't likeable but he isn't as beloved as Pablo's rendition of mad Sweeney

A few years ago I was talking about how I wanted to be taller, a redhead, have a really great copper coloured beard, and a few other things, that won't get into. Then I watched American Gods and realized I wanted to be Mad Sweeney. Tall, buff, Irish, ginger. I'm an average height Canadian with brown hair and eyes. And somehow buff and skinny and in possession of a pot belly at the same time.
So is The guy who plays Mad Sweeney. Pablo Schreiber used to play pornstache on OITNB, anything is possible.
In the book the spear had nothing to do with him. His death in the book was so much sadder.
Please bring Mad Sweeney back!!

Of all the inspired casting choices in this series, Pablo Schreiber's is the most surprising since he gives the wackiest performances balancing drama and comedy with equal skill. Nice comp video... and the choice of NIN's "Hurt" was pretty inspired as well!
