This fight was a total war. I don't know that I ever saw the ref break the two, even though it was all in-fighting. Brutal action with Ortiz outlasting him. Great, great fight. Reminded me of Jofre vs. Harada. A match-up between Jofre and Ortiz would've been some fight. Tough to call the winner in that one but I'd be rooting for my fellow SoCal hermano all the way.
My mother told me that Manuel would come over to see my dad, and would carry me and my brother around when we were babies. I'm thinking Manuel and my dad met somewhere in between Watsonville, Cal and El Centro, Cal. What a great champion Manuel was.
