- Classic Edo magic, known as tezuma, is the captivating integration of illusion, traditional Japanese acting, musical performance, costumes and stories. Kohtaro Fujiyama, a product of Chiba University's Magic Circle and the eldest son of tezuma legend Shintaro Fujiyama, followed his father onto the professional stage in 2006. In 2012, he won the Japan Magic Association award for best magician for the third straight year, and recently took the grand prize at the Agency for Cultural Affairs Arts Festival. Kohtaro showcases his unique skills overseas as well, at venues that include Hollywood's Walk of Fame and the famed Magic Castle. In addition to performing, he passes on the secrets of the art as a tezuma instructor and practices acrobatics.

Very good show and loved the music. I wish more cultures from around the world would be so kind to show us some of their traditions. Japan seems beautiful
The most outstanding thing I've seen.
That was an amazing Japanese art of magical performance. The flight pattern of the butterflies looks real.
Just beautiful how he shows the butterfly's life cycle from beginning to end and starting over again it's kinda a love story. He shows the big butterfly at the end
IS IT JUST ME BUT DID U SEE THE BIG BUTTERFLY SHAPE AT THE END? WHY AM I CRYING?
What a beautiful, and unique expression. Interesting to think how differently something as rudimentary as paper was used in the Japanese culture to tell stories. Not through a written or spoken language, but through a language that everyone can understand.
So sweet ... a portrayal of the cycle of life ...
Dude, that was cool. Very superb job !
He is the air bender I was looking for.
Hopefully the sequel will be made on hom
*him
That was a truely amazing showing of art and skill.

oh yeh and that was just amazing!!!
wow that actually just blew my mind
pud ge I
wow this is so cool it looks like the butterflies could cling to the fans. you deserve an A+ for that.
Beautiful. The Japanese have an amazing sense of artistry.
Very nice! This engages the mind so much more than the pomp of most western programs.
When my brother heard the music he became a daimyo that rules 5 regions
Using sleight of hand for storytelling is probably the sweetest thing I've witnessed
That's just amazing, thank you, magician! ;)
That was so cool better than any magic I've ever seen
Absolutely OUTSTANDING!!!!LOVE JAPENESE LOVE THEM WISH I COULD GO THERE!!!
I need more of this tezuma in my life
what an Exquisite display. different cultures, I assume ,can interpret magic in so many different ways. whether you consider it art or Magic I personally consider it both. fantastic :)
Honoured to witness the beauty of simplicity
Beautiful!Love from Slovakia.
Mind blowing Sir I have never seen before this type of talent 🤗🤗🤗😍
What an elegance in art of magic !!!
Truly Amazing.!
thought I was the only one who saw the butterfly. WOW!
pud ge you are so right .
wow never seen such thing before stunning
Very different, very cool! Story well told. 🦋
Amazing performance!
Take note of the confetti at the end, fluttering out to make a butterfly shape; that’s sleight of hand used for art
Bravo, simply beautiful.
Pretty solid sleight of fan.
codegavran I think you mean sleight of hand.
🖐
@@ijaseflags8062 damn Sherlock. Nothing gets past you!
justclimb77 I love this comment 💕
@@ijaseflags8062 you miss the pun
Ah yes, the simple of life. The cycle of it. The circle of life.
I like the idea of doing magic while having a deep & beautiful story. It's more magical than just do cool stuffs.
That was freaking amazing
7:37 pause at this time .u can see a butterfly fly .just try to find it
thanks for the translation !
The last part made me remember Killua's little sis who used a fan and confetti that can cut through bones.
That was very cool!
5:44 he's like "where'd it go?"
Beautifully amazing...very talented..
This is beautiful
Beautiful.
Simply exquisite.
So beautiful it truly is magick!
woooow! bravisimooooo!!!!👏👏👏👏
Woah that is sooooo coool!!!!!
beautiful....
such mastery
Beautiful
Man. Awesome.
Fantastic!
AMAZING ! Japanese culture is very very exciting !
Tarek Wisdom ur bit wrong yes Japanese culture is exciting the most way is to call respect
Robert Morgan How is he "a bit wrong"? All he says is that Japanese culture is exciting and then you repeat that it is! 😂
As far as forms of entertainment go this has got to be one of the least exciting. If this excites you, I fear for your health in an actually exciting scenario.
Fascinating!
that's amazing
Brilliant!!! ❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you for reminding me... I don't have long. I must work harder..
now thats awsome, and someting completly new
Awesome!
6:30 you can see he already has the white tentacle thing in his hand the whole time
stop ruining the magic
your lack of faith is disturbing
i dont think you heard the intro clearly, he said the magic is all about the story everyone knows its all in his hands but he showed a story which dumb fucks like you wouldnt get it
Amaging art
fantastic!
Amazing
I love the music
Fantastic...This was great!😏💕🌟🎎😆😄😁
7:37 the butterfly spirit was with him
Flawless victory
Wonderful performance.
Wow beautiful :)
Get this onto Fool Us, with Penn & Teller. I'd be fascinated to know if some Eastern traditional magic is outside their range (probably not). Even if they're aware of the slight of hand that's employed, the style and pacing of storytelling is so different here, you might have a shot at sliding something past them.
So cool
Now, that's some superior juggling.
3:46 I figured it out. When he puts the fan in his mouth, he is putting a piece of "magician's wax" in his mouth that he had already attached to the tissue (THINK OF IT LIKE A STRING) Thats how he controls it; it can only go so far from him. This is how magicians make cards boomerang around themselves
Wow, we're so impressed.
Great!!!
in the end he left butterfly too it shows that butterfly was always there
Magical
what's the name of that flute instrument? the one the musician on the right was playing
+galletta96 shakuhachi
True Magic!!
Xahrrigato ghozzaimassu. Thank you, kindly.
Great Japnese Art!
7:06... Did the camera guy ruined it or was the magician not careful with angles.
This music slaps, where can I buy track?
Nice skills.
Well I'm a fan now
who is interpreter? shes great!
tão simples, mas com tanta beleza...
Maravilloso
At first I just thought it was an old guy playing with a paper butterfly
fine magic
This is the Way .....
wow
This reminds of Kubo and the Two Strings. Was it based on this?
Really tripped on that.... still in stasis...
I wonder if this was an inspiration for the movie Kubo.
So nice bro
who said making a mess ain't fun?
-MON'tezuma
しびれました。日本の伝統芸能。
He's a Samarai in the off season .
Somebody gotta make a beat out of 2:35
Finally a TED Talk about traditional magic. I can't stand all the contemporary magic.
