- The Audi Cabrio-Studie was first shown to the public at the 1989 Frankfurt International Motor Show. Based on the B3 Audi Coupe, it featured that car's front & rear styling. (See here for further information, in French, and pictures of the Studie: www.4legend.co...)
It was a further two years until the production ready vehicle broke cover at the 1991 Geneva Motor Show, which featured the new front styling (with the grille now part of the bonnet) and tail lights of the then recently facelifted Audi 80.
Initially available only with the tried and tested five-cylinder fuel injection engine, four and six-cylinder spark-ignition engines were added to the programme later, and in the autumn of 1995 a high-torque four-cylinder turbocharged diesel with direct fuel injection was introduced.

Sorry I am late to the conversation, I was making my tea. I have a 95 2.6 and it's out every summer. These older Convertibles were really made to last... mine hasn't got a spot of rust, it starts on the button and it looks really cool. people just love to see it and you get involved in lots of conversations with complete strangers.
Sorry for commenting so late, I have a 96 2.6 cabriolet, it sat for around 5 years, I put fresh petrol and a battery in it and it fired up straight away, these are built better than most modern cars and definitely last longer!

THE BEST CABRIO EVER!
Hi, I can confirm. I drove one from 1992 to 1999 for more than 170.000 km without any technical problem. With the famous 5 cylinder engine it felt like a real GT, making a top speed of about 240 km/h. As I lived in Germany at that time, I had many occasions to do so. Nowadays there is to much traffic, even that there still is no general speed limit in Germany. Still lots of good memories.
It's a super design and they don't rust much

Get one, it's not hard. B6 and B7 Cabriolets are not unlike the original and only waiting for their future classic status. Some may say it's already here.

Interesting that they planned the quattro drivetrain but never built it. Either the car became too heavy or they considered it being a car for good weather only 😆
The green one seems to be a pre-series car. Look how the indicator light is out of line at 4:33
Not just for good weather! It's a perfect winter car with a super heater and a well insulated fabric top and then the good traction of a front wheel drive.
QUATTRO was never available on audi convertible ...

Actually there was made 4 cabrio's with quattro but they never got sold. Audi owns them till this day :D

audi convertible was build by audi since 1991 TO 1997 , iN 1997 its Karman who built AUDI convertible and the work was better than AUDI works ...

Engineers designed the car and they probably selected the best wheek size
