Fellas, this video has been uploaded in 4K. Hopefully it is looking absolutely crisp, let me know if you have any trouble viewing it, or if there's anything I can change for it. There looks to be a little bit of dropped frames, will work on that and try to iron it out!
You are the ultimate guide to AOE3. Your Dutch build order finally put me in line with my friends so I don't suck as much. Any chance you will do an Italy and Malta build order?
oh dude, that 75 wood cost shrine strategy is awesome. ever since ive seen this i cannot stop using this strategy in all my japanese civilization plays now! on top of all the reduced cost for buildings, its so good and fun to play thanks for showing off this strat!
With how much you need to spread out were you place your shrines how do you avoid being pop capped when the enemy starts destroying them? Just start building shrines in your base without hunts?
This build order is actually really good, of course it works versus players. If you wanna see it in action, check out haitch RUclips (#1 rank player) and he does this exact build order to some extent versus another player in a rank match. High quality gameplay.
this build order is slow, cuz he start to make first soliders at min 6, untill that Russia already rush you or some other american civ which age up in min 3 and until min 5 alreday have a decent military mass, and there is no chance to defende against it.
@@KOSOVOisSERBIA222 like I said, look at haitch play it, he does about the same thing. And he is the number one player in aoe3. Recently won the tourney. So its viable and it's among the best for Japanese. It's a bit slow to get the first military out but you have sentries and minuteman to call out. So they got the tools to hold.
@@jfoley3484 it would change because he made troops too late, if he faced any type of early pressure he would most likely lose. If you think the opponent doesn't have much influence in early game then you need to play more
Exactly, when I play Japan, I nearly always get rushed between 5 and 7 minutes. He had no army at this time and would get destroyed. That's also why IMO Japan is under powered. Can't defend against good rushes.
that's why the build is referred to as being "greedy". The thing is, in early age 2 you usually don't die that quickly. Plus, japanese economy still works decently well even with idle villagers as the shrines are still working just fine. Plus, strelets aren't exactly good at taking down town centers. This is also the reason why you should build your barracks behind your TC: makes it easier to defend. Another reason why it isn't too hard to survive some short-term aggression: villagers are surprisingly strong in earlygame. 150 health, 10 melee, 20 melee resist ist stronger than a pikeman and not much weaker than a musketeer. You also already have a market so you can research the villager upgrade easily, putting them at 202 health, 13 melee which allows them to actually beat the majority of 1-pop military units 1v1 in melee. While fighting with villagers requires a LOT of micro, it can be very effective if done well, especially close to the town center (as you can garrison weak villagers). But yeah, against heavy aggression you might have to ship some military units early, get the sentries out etc. So its not always going that smoothly. But once the 2 barracks are down, you are flexible with going for ashigarus or yumis (just set your shrines to the respective res and produce away). And all-in rushes are certainly a major threat (as according to the rush → turtle → boom → rush triangle).
170 pop cap, not pop. Also against Japanese, players know if they go greedy, because they can see those shrines being pushed out towards their TC first, its up to the player to at least lazily scout and take care of the early shrines with a pikemen shipment or go for the throat early instead of trying to outboom an early game extreme greed build from the Japanese
Most JP players are going to boom you... So how about rushing them? You know.. the counter strategy to a boom? if you're playing another boom civ, you're out of luck, but most civs can do some sort of rush...
@@Arthur-fz5dw lol im not sure anybody still sees these but, does anyone have any advice on how to balance vill production and advancing the age? early on i have scarce resources and i feel very weak so i must be doing something wrong
if you want to lose follow this guide, you will be rushed minute 6 and have no way to defend yourself, the only viable early game with japan is calling 2x5 ashigaru from metropoli and adding as much samurais you can
Man, you should try switching to the Dutch (probably with the 300 export shipment, immediately after 600 wood OR 4 villagers) and sending a bank for even more greedy play. Also, gather coin instead of wood with villagers, for God's sake. Shrines are much more efficient at gathering wood!
Isolationism provides a 7% attack boost to all land units which can be very impactful in fights. It also has the bushido tech which allows you to train batches of 10 units. The military units are pretty good too. I think it's the best option to stay on unless you are getting techs from Spain or buildings from Dutch and after that you'd still likely want to switch to isolationism. On water maps it may be worth staying on Portuguese consolate until age 3 to get the caravel for some sort of timing.

Dod you play aigenst extrme AI?
Very nice quality. Im watching it in 1080 and its very good
Aussie Drongo more like Diamond Drongo cause it's crystal clear
Drongo just tells us the truth. You have four arms. Because that's some truly insanely fast AOE: III command speed.

Can we get an ottoman opening next? Really enjoying this series!!
+1 for otto here
Me too.

Ottoman opening: trying to hit the vill Button at tc until u call minutemen by accident
@@robertdockhorn1394 The best Otto opening I've ever heard off. They're called Ottos for a special reason. Villagers train Ottomaticallly. Ha, ha, ha.
Great Video Aussi Drongo, good start. I usually play Japan and would do it like that too. A well done Video
A 4K video? Nice, he's stepping up his game.
A classical build never die
Love your videos. Thanks for sharing.
I knew I was playing them wrong thx for the help
Do you still open consulate + age with shrine when you expect to be rushed or always gates in that case?
Thanks for the video!
bom di dom di dom and Imma just gonna leave a comment to increase user interaction so these videos get recommended a bit more bom didi da bom di

Been waiting for this!!!!!
If you put shrines on opposite corners of tc instead of next to each other you can teleport vills through tc onto the other one during raids

how do you change the idle villagers icon in the top left corner to red?
When you send on the water maps the fishing boats first, when comes heavenly kami?
Can you do this vs real people, doesn’t have to be pros. Would give a more realistic expectations
How would it change at all? This is standard age 1 early age 2 play where ur opponent doesn’t have much effect. It wouldn’t make any difference.

The ch in orchard is pronounced like the ch in change, or charge, or charm. Just letting you know. The video is very informative otherwise.
Doesn't that vary by dialect?
@@johnmcfarlane3147 no
but it varies based on idiolect. Not everyone speaks Received Pronunciation or General American (in fact, almost nobody does).

Interesting
Hey i ve just got a question ! What is the game option that shows the lettre near the building (like Q just nest the house )
And what is the hotkey to select all the same troupers/building ?
In game settings there is one called display hotkey commands
Good series! I hope we get china soon!
Sorry, new to the game... how to change the UI? is that a mod?
Was there any market upgrades after it was build up?
Yeah, he got both of the food upgrades

I think he wants to show the build order is possible even without taking treasures.

Wow awesome mate!
why not spam samurais? they do 179 siege damage and AoE attacks 50 samurais are enough to destroy 1 full base
What would you do if you got rushed
say gg and quit lol.
Ideally, you would want to start training by 5:30 at most. Drongo did it too late in my opinion.
walling early making ashi and sending yumi from HC or even consulate, so many options
I suggest tori gate build when u get rushed.
Does anyone one know if this works in in classic aoe3?
It does
what was the abusive part of the game mechanics, i had the impression, you got distracted by the rickshaw from explaining this?
I think drongo was referring to abusing the rickshaw to use as a scout, though I might be wrong

Looks too slow vs russians or aztecs
Easily countered by Russia. 33 strelets in your base at 6 minutes.
With all that coin u got at start u could easily build a market and buy some wood
