- 2 years ago I got diagnosed with PCOS after not getting my period for 7 years. I was devastated because being a mom and starting a family with Laurens is my biggest dream.. I was so scared that I would never be able to because I got told it was harder to get babies in a natural way..
I started to research PCOS and came to the conclusion that mine was not the typical pcos.. Mine was because of my body being in fight or flight mode.. which means my body was under constant stress. I never felt mentally super stressed so it was hard te understand this, but my life consisted of travelling all the time (no biorhythm), working out every day, eating super clean (restricting foods). I think I pressured my body to much, and honestly every body is so different but I think my weight was not good for my body to function properly and couldn’t handle the constant traveling.
This was the point where I started to research natural healing for PCOS and came to the conclusion that I should do way less high intensity training, don’t restrict foods, be nice to myself, and take breaks when needed. I also tried some natural supplements, acupuncture and we got a place back in the Netherlands as well, so we could spend more time with Family (since im such a family person).
I’m so happy and grateful to say that I got my period back last november AND that WE’RE SOON A FAMILY OF THREE ❤ ❤❤❤

I feel the same every time I get asked if I have a bf, and things like “how come you not have a boyfriend?” “You’re lying to me”
That’s why we should not ask people, ”when you’re gonna have a baby?“ because we never know the trauma or the pain one is going through
When you looked at them, from the outside, their life seemed perfect...but deep down they struggled with something difficult and that caused pain..
Lesson is to not judge ...be nice with people around you because you don't know what they struggle with.

@@smaragdag.8394 PCOS wasn't helping but it's not like you don't have periods when having it. I have it as well and I've never knew about this until it was discovered unexpectedly, my cycle was always just a bit long (34 days) - other then that, nothing unusual, no pains, no problems :)

@@kasiowelove1 just because you have a semi-normal cycle doesn't mean that it's normal with PCOS. Most women who have PCOS have very irregular cycles and don't get their period very often, sometimes not at all for a year or more. I didn't get a period for 5 years even though I'm not a model, eat normally and barely exercise
Social media often gives you a false image. You think, „man, their life is so perfect and mine sucks.“ But that‘s just wrong. In the end, we are all humans, we struggle and we have our problems, in every aspect of life. So, just keep your head up, strive forward, believe in your dreams and most importantly stay true to yourself.

thank you for opening up about the effects of the weight pressure from being a model on your body and having a period. its really important for girls that aspire to look like you, to know that it is not healthy or sustainable, and that it can affect your fertility + long-term health, and that models subsequently have those problems
Just to clarify: The period loss was from PCOS which is stress Induced for her and made worse by high intensity work outs, modelling didn't cause period loss. She makes this clear in her Instagram post and I'm just relaying the information here.

I am also really skinny and still have my period. It is the stress but also all the traveling and time changes - your body have some inner order and time changing plus the pressure in the plane are the worse for our period... Mostly flight attendants have this problem...

I got diagnosed with PCOS when I was 15 years old. I am going to be 23 in July and I was told I wouldn’t be able to have children. I got my periods normally after starting Keto and have had one every month for the past year. I finally got pregnant February of this year, 2020. I’m currently 14 weeks pregnant with my beautiful little boy. So, I understand your struggle. I know how it feels to see everyone being pregnant and becoming mothers. I knew at a young age, being a mom is what I definitely wanted. After years of trying to get pregnant, it happened when I least expected. God blessed me with my son and I’m beyond blessed. Romee I also have PCOS. But I have the opposite effects. I am huge. I’ve gained too much weight. I got my period every day consecutively for 6 months in a row. I have started doing high intensity training and modeling my meals after what you eat. I’ve lost 50lbs and I have never felt better. Low BMI, extensive travel, high intensity workouts, restrictive calories and dieting will cause the loss of a period, and no chance of getting pregnant. I am so happy for you and Laurens, and for having the courage to look within, recognize the healthy changes that needed to happen for your body to function properly, and put those changes first above your career and the insane pressure u must feel to maintain your body. This makes me so emotional. A few days ago I was tested of the PCO Syndrom. The doctor explained me all the effects and that day I was so sad and crushed. I am still waiting for the results but seeing other people making it happen with the syndrome makes me happy. Congratulations! ☺️

I do hope that girls will learn from Romee's experience, and that they will see a docter inmediately when they lose their periods.
A period is a sign of health, if you lose it you should start to investigate.

well I agree, but I was for half a year as an exchange student in the us and I lost it, but it came back when I got home, same happened to my friend. So girls, don't freak out if you are in a new environment, sometimes your body is not used to things and it will stop, but it hopefully will come back😚 (I have to say I was quite young)

Omg I’ve been struggling with PCOS too. Thank you so much for mentioning this. One of my symptoms from PCOS is hair loss which is a rare symptom involved. My heart goes out to anyone else struggling with this.
