> My name is Mike Flohr, im 61 yrs.old. I had a 1977, 1979, 1980, 1986, 1990 RM250'S ,1993 RMX250, 2007 RMZ450, 2014RMZ450. Had many other motorcycles, but loved my Suzuki's. I met Ping at a race at Grizzly Stadium in Fresno, Ca. I worked @ Clawsons or Cycle Gear at the time, can't remember which, but i was in the pits and walked up to Ping told him i was a fan of his, and i said "hey where's your mechanic? as Ping was gassing up his bike himself, Ping said " he's over trying to pick up the camera chick and my race is next" then I said "you want me to take your bike to the starting line for you? Ping said " sure if you don't mind, that would be cool" so I did. As I was pushing Pingree's bike to the starting line, i couldn't believe this was really happening! Starting the bike for Ping and holding the throttle while he was adjusting his goggles, and MaGrath was lined up right next to him, and I told him "you got this dude" and patted him on the back, the gate dropped and Ping got the holeshot! Magrath passed him halfway thru the moto, Ping got second. After the moto, he gave me the bike and I walked it back to the pits, i put it on the stand and talked with Ping a bit. Classy dude, and down to earth, like him alot. Magrath was parked right next to him. Then Jeremy came over and said to me " hey I'm Jeremy MaGrath, who are you? I shook his hand and told him my name, where I worked and the story bout Ping and his mechanic and the camera chick, he laughed, then i told Jeremy,"by the way, I kinda know your mom, when she was trying to buy a houseboat from me by phone when I worked at Bonner Lacefield marine of Fresno, a Bennington houseboat. Jeremy said "cool, my moms here making sandwiches in the box van, come over a say hi to her. So I did, and she remembered me, then she said "you want a sandwich? I sat on end of the box van, had a sandwich with Jeremy MaGrath, his mom and crew. Meanwhile my friends and lots of people were standing in line for a MaGrath autograph, looking at me hanging with Jeremy and crew with shocked faces, priceless! I went to leave and go back to the stands and Jeremy said to me" hey you want a autograph? I said "no thanks..the memory of this day was more than enough for me" he shook my hand and said to me" your nice guy and glad to meet you, and stop buy the box van and say hi when im at the races anytime". It was around 1998 or 99, Jeremy was on a Honda CR250 running #2 plate and Ping was on Suzuki RM250, both are class act people!! One of my favorite stories! Have told it many times. Flodaddy!
I had an 01'that I built from the ground up. Really miss it, parts for the powervalve were so hard to fjnd, but it was bored out to 265, ported and polished with full FMF, and the updated RMZ front end.
@@Corteum The AMA needs to let the 250 two strokes race in the 250 division. Heck they let the 450 four strokes race in the 250 two stroke division. It would add excitement and interest in racing again.
I still ride my KX250 2stroke 2006 every weekend since brand new and it rips. Younger riders that don't know 2strokes come to me and say "that bike sounds sick on the track"
Funny that you said it wasn’t going to set the world on fire with horsepower. My 02 RM250 is definitely very potent. All stock motor with a pro circuit pipe and silencer. My friend has a 2003 CR250 and we switched bikes and he said the same thing. Definitely was more powerful than his 03 CR 250
Gotta love Ping, he know what he talks about. Still going fast aswell. I always wonder how much he would love to see these two strokes back at the nationals, basically cut all the crap engine displacements, gas-rules and what not. It would make the sport more exciting again why, cause you would havet another topic to discuss not just linear four stroke talk. And in honestly racing would be more exciting. I strongly believe that the sport would benefit from it. The offroad guys use them on a national level, so why not motocross again. Solid video as usual by vital and ping.
You guys gotta get some pro's testing these bikes in track battles and time attacks... preferrably "blinded" i.e. with plain plastics so they don't know what make or model bike they're riding. Mx + Science.
I have one with a ported 87' CR500 and a pulse injected carb. Let's drag race? The way I put the motor in it it sticks like glue to ground no matter what. No light front end turns like a dream no headshake. Way better than a AF IMO.
How many times does Ping talk about his old 99 (or whatever year it was)rm125? Somebody build this guy a 1999 rm125 mod bike or big bore or whatever. I had a 2001 rm250. I sold it cheap when everybody wanted 4 strokes.
If anyone ever wants to sell me a 2002 RM250, please reply to this. I will be riding my 2001 CR125R in the meantime. I'm located in Southern California.

My favorite bike ever was a 2005 RM 250
That's what I got. Best bike to date still. Haha
Carmichael ran away with the Supercross title that year on one. I've got an 03 still sitting in the basement.
@@plumberhero absolutely!! Just got my hands in a 2005 zooki 450 too. Next, a 125!
Agreed!!!!!
I have a 2001 RM 250 and it's amazing
I loved my 01 rm 250!
Japanese manufacturers - BRING BACK 2 STROKES!!!!
Hai wakatta!!
Yamaha still offers them
If Suzuki started making oem spare parts for the 125 and 250's they would make a small fortune
I love my 2000 rm250 juicy girl ain’t never do me wrong 💪🏽
Somewhere Pastrana is wiping a tear from his eye.

Honda, Suzuki, and Kawasaki need to make 2 strokes again
Yes sir! Two strokes are really becoming popular again. They are the hype! People doing restores like this are doing two strokes not four strokes.
Yes, I want 350 2t and 450 2t versions, and a 500 2t on the modern chassis.

I ride my 1995 CR250 every weekend. Lots of time we ride on public OHV trails. There is no talk of banning two strokes here at this point in time.
I get that on my 06 yz250 too. They’re hard as shit to ride tho
Love pings personality, he seems like one of us !
My good lord, if I knew how to build a bike like this, I’d be the happiest man in the world
If Suzuki would fire up the production line and build brand new 2006 Rm250s i would plunk my money down!
You can still buy a new 250 2stroke from Yamaha or KTM
I came here to say the same thing.
@@AbcAbc-ox6pg ya Suzuki would be a less expensive offering than those
I have an 04 Rm 250 and back in the day had an 02 RM 125 that I wish I would have kept . Love both !!
Had a 2003 and I loved it. That bike was easy to ride. The power delivery was strong and smooth.
I ride my 2005 RM 125 every weekend and it’s still the best looking bike on the track
Dream on

Agreed, rips my arms off, also have a 52 rear but hey, I love it.
Let me know if and when u want to sell it
Sweet bike. Had the RC 06 and loved it 👍.. Thnx Ping .. Merry Christmas Vital crew 👊.. Old G 😉
David Pingree does a great job, I have been following his career since he went Pro in the mid-nineties.
Looks and sounds well tidy
The new chassis so much better to ride than the olden day 90's chassis.
This is true beauty, I love this so much. I love this so much more than my 01 cr250r.
Suzuki should make new 125 an 250 smokers they would sell like hot. Cakes!
Good info in this. Amazing RM
Love that year of rm
Beautiful bike, kudos to the guy that built it! Its a shame that Suzuki doesn't offer two strokes! Like WTF?
You can still buy new a 250 from Yamaha or KTM
@@AbcAbc-ox6pg but it's not a Suzuki!
Love the yellow
Still looks modern, shame they dont make it anymore like the YZ250
2 stroke gang 💯

so sick
I have a 2001 rm 250 and ti is a good bike but the parts are hard to find for this bike 🏍 😢
Get on ebay every day until you find what you need. That's what I do with my 2001 RM 125.
parts bike time!
how do you have a RM250 and not have a bills or PC on it...
How do they get a seat that’s less pocketed to fit?
Where’s the cr250 video link haha
Beauty
Glad they kept the original plastics. There’s nothing more ugly than an old 2 stroke with restyled plastic kits
Always see adding basic store bought but never detail on the motor. Still a secret?
