Saw the whole play through, and I saw your joke too. Bugger all. I got a request. Any chance you could capture all the ways to get a game over in the game? I think there may be some extra scenes worth checking out too, such as an alternative means to leave the plane.
Yeah, I might consider doing so eventually. I have a lot of saves from past playthroughs, so it shouldn't be that difficult (other than the Sydney code sheet death).
Thanks so much for this. I'm toying with speedrunning this game and I'm not sure if I could have mapped out those mine segments with my sanity intact. I really like how you presented the commentary, and the box changing hue over the course of the video was a nice touch that I didn't even notice until about 45 minutes in. The only thing that's incorrect, as far as I've seen, is that putting out the campfire is not actually optional; the fire will spread and Dan will burn to death in his sleep after shearing sheep. Of course, since he's sleeping in Nicole/Jack's house, that likely means the whole house caught on fire and killed them too. Thanks, Dan. Excellently done overall, thanks again.
Oh thank you very much for watching and commenting! I was hoping someone would notice the slow-changing hue effect. As for the fire, the only reason why I said that it was optional is because I remember being able to beat the game without putting the fire out. I may have put it out anyway, so I could be misremembering. I actually didn't know that about the fire. Maybe I'll record the fire death along with the Sydney shore shark death and the alternate way to get out of the plane in an extra Down Under Dan Video. And as for speedrunning, it's theoretically possible, though maddening to think about. Who knows. Part of me is hoping that an Australian speedrunner pulls it off and shows it at an event or something. I would love to see that. :P
On this momentous day, I went from knowing 0% about Down Under Dan to 100% of it. I'll need some time process exactly how this is going to impact the rest of my life.
Top games i liked from DOS and amiga era -> Alvira games -> The adventures of down under dan -> heart of china -> KGB -> monkey island 1 -> commander keen ->oregon trail games -> warriors of xentar -> marble cooking -> dark moses -> harvester -> return to zork -> phantasmagoria -> alone in the dark 1 -> CSI L A simulator ->Alter ego -> i have no mouth i must scream -> Doom & Wolfenstein -> Darkseed (edit i forgot darkseed) ->pizza tycoon -> Sid meier pirates -> Le sietler
As an Aussie, you rarely hear people talk like that anymore. The narrator has a very gentlemanly accent by our nations standards.
Just when I started watching Joel play it. Let's hope he sees this for reference.

Too bad joel stopped after part 2 :/
Started watching for a bit of nostalgia, watched the entire walkthrough. Awesome vid mate!
Very well played. Your commentary is unmatched!
Thanks!
This is probably one of the best reason why yt was invented

Nice speedrun bro.
Imagine a Down Under Dan speedrun... That would be maddening, yet... Fitting...
I love your playthrough and style of commentary lad. I hope you get to do more with gems like this.
What a crap ending. That would be so frustrating to have a non-ending like that.
I enjoyed your playthrough.
RIPPAH!
i liked your commentary

Liverpool Fans? In my Sierra-style point and click set in the Outback? It's more likely than you think.

Now that I've watched this, despite loving the comedy joel provides, it is painful seeing how oblivious Joel is to some games
Funny game and video. Thanks for that.
