These are more or less critiques than analyses.
I think that final expansion was more for setting up a sequel, one that we are probably never going to get.
100%
Homefront: Reclaim (or whatever) would have been the one where you retake America back
@Garrett McBride Yeah.
2023
Is lime to play it.
"Homefront: The Reclamation"
When I saw the Beyond the Walls ending I was expecting another Homefront game to carry out the aftermath.
Gives me an idea for a whole other game in the vein of this one where foreign NATO troops occupy the US but try to rebuild it more in their favor and essentially become a craftier occupying force that works from the shadows and sways the population using PR stunts rather than overt subjugation.
The coolest part of homefront the revolution was when u had to go put on the gas mask and walk around that gas area
Wow, I also had no idea this game had multiple expansions and the fact that they're decent is pretty surprising. Good video!
Yea Me too
IMO the base game is great too. Sure it's unfinished, but they polished it up the way they could a year after the bad release and I had a blast going through it.
I still strongly recommend this game, but please remove the 3D spotting and minimap! It improves the immersion and the gameplay A LOT
@@C0T0HA For real, this is how it should be played. I use minimal HUD also whenever I play this game. I love roaming around the city looking for shortcuts etc.
@@jigzyonline2 Ever since Far Cry 2 and Metro 2033 I try to use minimal HUD in any game that allows me to play it that way.
I don't think people realize how much of the 'being there' experience is butchered and trivialized by having an icon for everything.
@@C0T0HA cCouldn't agree more, I fucking hate shit all over my screen. Obviously it can depend on the game but an FPS like this is much more enjoyable when you have to look around yourself and can see all of the display.
Something to note, when they released Beyond the Walls, they also released an HDR update for the One X and PS4 Pro which no one was expecting. I felt it was a great send off for HTR from the devs. This was a game they were passionate about and had to fight through hell just to get it out in the state in released in. So to release a DLC that was notably better than the base game with an HDR update and a massive patch that fixed a ton of issues showed how dedicated they were to the players. I was a regular on their forums, and the devs were active all the time responding to everything.
That's awesome 👍
Sadly the multilayer isn't competitive.
Either way. If the game isn’t finished. You don’t put it out. That’s business 101. They built a very small fan base for the game with the first one, hell even my dad played it bruh. But with this? Nah. I tried to love it. And did at first, but after you get everything in this game it’s a complete and utter drag to finish this dog shit game. There’s literally no variety at all 💀 none of the new dlcs had any new guns, attachments, nothin. I got ripped off 🤣 plain and simple. Talk about “story” all you want. If you add dlcs and charge people $15+ for em. Put new guns and shit in the game 🤣 don’t just take the ductape off my mouth and throw me into the same shit
That first DLC kinda seems like if 4A made a Metro game on American survivors after the nuclear Armageddon. As you said, metro-inspired for sure.
Actually its not that the nuke wouldn't be detected in KPA territory, its that it had to be fired from within KPA territory so that it doesn't trigger a Nuclear War between NATO and the KPA. Also, all KPA weapons are bio-locked, which is controlled through the APEX satellite network. The point to EMP it was that it would effectively disable all KPA weapon systems, including their own guns. Basically, the entire KPA just became unarmed and sitting ducks.
Basically they're getting karma, cause that was how they were able to take over so much during the base game. Turned off all the manufactured guns they given out over the years. Though, man, gotta see a 3rd game where we help fight that cool as push back.
Ngl never knew the game had dlc before you're vid
@@ThisBirdHasFlown ruclips.net/video/Hxr8U23A9mw/видео.html
if there is ever another homefront game i want it to be set in the eyes of a NATO grunt just rising up the ranks and doing his/her job
Your approach to your content inspires me. Keep being you man, it resonates off of each of your videos.
glad you been covering the game and it's expansions
Hehehehe, “last video on Homefront”.
You have no idea what you’ve done. You’re now a Homefront RUclipsd, you have no power over us viewers.
Homefront RUclipsrs? Those actually exist?
the fact the devs are still not abandoning this game and constantly bombarding it with performance updates is what brought this game back to life. I love it when devs are like that.
Btw Jarek, you might wanna visit CI Games's Sniper: Ghost Warrior franchise as a whole. You can see how they improve from when they first started.
Plus, as a prequel, the cursed Sniper: Art of Victory.
P.S: Benjamin Walker is the main character in the first Homefront's tie-in novel, "Homefront: Voice of Freedom".
I find both sniping and stealth incredibly boring so that's not of my interest
@@Jarekthegamingdragon eey you replied. aeh olraity then :( :(
TBH I liked the main game more, although I agree that the DLCs are more polished.
Homefront2's open world made me feel like my actions matter much more so than in other open world games, even with all the jankiness in mind, and the city itself felt alive and believable.
I wouldn't have liked if it was a linear game
Honestly, seeing a yellow zone progress from quiet compliance to comical anarchy was really fun. Even if it felt a little goofy in places, it was really unique to see your action actually shape the world around you. I loved how at the start you'd see the KPA harassing civilians, but once you'd shaken a district up you'd see civilians throwing bricks at them or even beating them with bats and stuff.
@@0lionheart this is the singular feature that didn't let me get bored or frustrated with repetitive missions. I knew that I could just run around the map and do stuff and watch its consequences unfold before my eyes.
No other open world game I know of does this.
Been loving your content!
Coop repurposed existing open world maps from the base game and gave you objectives balanced around the idea that you'd have multiple players to manage the enemies. Most would have a multi-stage objective structure. For example: You'd need to ambush a convoy, hack a terminal in a KPA firebase, and then assassinate a target, and leave the district.
From what I remember, the objectives tended to flow together fairly coherently. In the example above, the convoy ambush was to draw security from the base, then you'd hack their comms to bring in the VIP to assassinate.
It's not that different from the single player game on a mechanical level, though multiplayer characters are significantly weaker than Brady. (Less health, lower ammo reserves, only one primary weapon slot unless you specifically unlock the second one with an upgrade point.) Conspicuously, there's nothing that requires much coordination between players. Like, you'll never see, "turn these two valves at the same time." As I recall, it's entirely possible to clear all the objectives alone if you're a skilled player. Though, it's possible the higher difficulty tiers added requirements like that.
Isn't this the soundtrack from Legendary? I wasn't sure but this music was playing in your Legendary video as well.
Yeah I wish too we could have seen NATO and European Allies taking back the US from the KPA, even just an small snippet showing it would have sufficed for me
I'm glad that I'm not the only one that realized the infinite rockets at the end. I'd probably struggle if not for that exploit. Also... Homefront the book?! Com'on Jarek! You are destined to be the best book reviewing channel on this platform! Your potential will be squandered otherwise!!!
I guess I’m alone here I love this game so much it’s one of my favorites
Beyond the Wall is the best , first time I actually delved into this sequel, a couple years ago, wasn't disappointed, great video!
Love the videos man, also in Portland here! I think the Conflict series would be great to analyze too. (Conflict Desert Storm 1 and 2, Vietnam, etc.) Just an idea.
The ending of the last expansion is great. A hero that would sacrifice themselves doesnt see the outcome
There are so many stories where some brave hero decides to give their life to save the day and because of their sacrifice, the good guys win, the survivors all cheer, and everybody lives happily ever after. But the hero never gets to see that ending. They’ll never know if their sacrifice actually made any difference. They’ll never know if the day was really saved. In the end, they just have to have faith.
Aint that a bitch.

Great Videos on an underappreciated game. I thoroughly enjoyed this game and the DLC, sure the ending of Beyond the Walls was disappointing but man was it nice to get out of the base game city. After the game was fixed it was a thousand times better than at launch. The launch drove me nuts with the issues but I stuck with it because I like the idea behind the story. I also enjoyed the co-op a lot. I like underdogs and this game was the epitome of an underdog. Have me sent to a psych unit but I would gladly buy another Home Front game.
So Homefront the revolution can be a really good game .it nails the setting & the atmosphere .it's bad that game was in a buggy & broken state at launch
Great job video Jarek. Definitely gonna check your Twitch channel my man.
See ya there!
Hey Jarek! Look into the game 'Pariah'!
Wow, didn't think that the devs would put this much effort into this game even after release. I think I want to play it now
This video now gives me a idea on how these expansion packs are I ended up getting the season pass on PS store for 10$ thanks for giving me a Idea on how they are
Just so you know pickles shouldn't be held hostage for fun.
Wish you could play Frontlines: fuel of war, it's an interesting game, definitely worth playing
Isn't it mediocrity redefined?
@@raresmacovei8382 I don't think it's mediocre, but "just good"
That game had soul
I feel like they should have had a massive playable area for the whole game, but distinguish the parts of the map so that it doesn't get too old. You have the major city of Philadelphia, you have the small villages surrounding it, and then you have the Wilderness that is outside the villages and sometimes even punctures into the villages, which is usually forbidden to enter because it's a lawless frontier where bandits, pirates, and nature rule filled with the forgotten and decayed ruins of decades long past. Shit like that would add a bit of "what went on HERE?" in my eyes; It makes the player curious in a nervous curiosity sort of way.
I don't think that Homefront The Revolution was a really good game, but I think it made a lot of potential for a sequel. Would've loved to see how they learned from it to make a better sequel
Hey love your channel, shout out from Longview
While I liked the base game well enough, a more linear campaign with a series of maps like this would've been fucking great. Beyond the Walls is particular was a great level.
Also voiced Brady is just... mmmmm
Dang you Jareg this tame sounds awesome and looks awesome now I have too buy it
I thought the expansions were being played this weekend? Is there a way to set a twitch alert because that's twice ive missed your streams.
I might as well add a recommendation, have you played Alien Isolation?
Following works for me
I stream on Mon-Wed or how ever long it takes to beat a game. Week ends are my off time so I don't burn myself out.
Hey Jarek! I was watching this video and just now, a friend thought you were a professional news reporter talking about worldly affairs hahahaha
Nice. Guess I’ll go back and play the game.
The developers should have given us the control of that captured goliath. Like a buddy of some kind in red Zone
I'm willing to interpret the ending of "Beyond The Wall" as "Sacrificing yourself for a better world you don't get to see."
Sweet review Jared, I'm not a fan of these expansions however it's actually decent.
@@ThisBirdHasFlown ...............
Love your videos you’re man
Maybe they had the ending that way to leave it open for a sequel?
Hey Jarek, was thinking about games I used to play when I was young and thought of one you might like to check out its called Chrome (dont let the generic name fool you) its made by techland back when they were newish to the market (its from 2003) not sure if my memory holds up but it was a pretty fun game with some cool implants you unlock, a light inventory system, and a slightly clique story but enjoyable none the less. It used to be on steam but a licenses issue took it down so as far as I know its abandonware
Neato man
I might try this game purely because I'm curious about the weapon system, it seems like a pretty interesting approach.
goddamn beyond the walls was amazing
I have one question if i buy expansion pass do i get story mode and all DLC or just all DLC
I got vibes from Fallout 3 and 4 subways as well. Specifically in Fallout 4 there is a "Creation Club" quest to track down a Fallout 3 character's fate and his weapon. I was vague to avoid spoilers. But yeah..Metro was definitely an inspiration.
1:30 - steady....steady....
BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRT
Good dlc tbh. Playing as benjamin walker was just so good lol.
I just watched homefront the revaluation then this video popped up
You should try older game called CODENAME:VENOM. For time it was really cool and innovative with weaponry ( you had basically 1 gun that could was also sniper/grenade launcher/laser rifle/sniper rifle/rocket launcher) and you were fighting aliens that in ,, invasion of body snatchers,, type got control of humans and basically i remember it was amazing game. ( Also from then younger creators of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Franchise )
P.S. also intro was kinda amazing i remember XD
I sank a couple hundred hours in the 2nd Homefront when it released, and played alot of MP, but didnt know these existed till today. Kinda funny since i actually liked the game!
Playing through the base game after years or one of left in progress and even though I know spoilers for the dlc, its good to know they break away from the base game formula which really drags way too much even for me who doesn't hate the Ubisoft formula.
Beyond the wall at least to me, felt like what they wanted to be the sequel to be.
I recently got the game for $8 with all the DLC. Honestly short dlcs along with the full game for that price is very acceptable. I can understand why people wouldn't be happy with the length at a higher price.
Homefront the revolution was pretty cool tbh !
Oh yeah. I remember this game
It's on sale right now on ps4 with the dlc for like £10 and I get paid in 6 days so hopefully they're good
I would love for Jingles to start a video with "Jingles here" and for Jarek to start with "Howdy folks!" so me and like six other people can have a chuckle
Edit: That last expansion reminds me of an mw2 mission
It’s okay Jarek we love you even without *The Hat*
So i got homefront the revolution a while ago not like at launch probably a year or 2 afterwards and tbh i love both games and the expansions i loved the weapon system in the revolution but i got the version of homefront with the expansions and i played through all of it in almost one sitting because i didnt have a whole lot to play im now on probably my 3rd or 4th playthrough of it and im now attempting to 100% the game the only real collectible is freedom journals beside all the section objectives for hearts and mind in the yellow zones and just area control in the red zones but overall i really enjoy the game and tbh i wouldnt mind another one especially if they could pull it off better than the other 2
Hey Jarek will you finish Cryostasis?
the game crashes alot because of PhysX and Shader model 4.0 i recommend turning it off
So in the first expansion is in a underground, then the next one is a about taking someone somewhere, and the last is about finding a nuke. Definitely a Metro game.
Wow.
thats like the ending in RAGE
Rest In Peace Ethan
BOLD SO BOLD
This on sale for the PS4. Is the PS4 version alright?
Will u make vid about spec ops the line
Get the hat, jarek!
I live just across the river in Vancouver and can fully attest to the heat. Keep making great videos on shit games and hidden gems!
New video idea: Enemy Front. I remember it only came out on the 360, ps3, and PC when the xbox one and ps4 were already released. It was an odd game.
They could've made another game to continue the 3rd expansion where you support the invasion of the U.S.
In north America the complete edition of homefront the revolution is $7.99 until September 3rd
"I preferred it when you kept your mouth shut." lmao
I think the ending is left blank due to the possibility of a sequel. Could be cool to play as a nato agent retaking America.
If it takes 30 minutes for the average player, it will take 2 hours for me. I like to take my time.
I downloaded the DLCs and it says they are installed, (on my One X), but I still can't see then on the "Story" page.
Same had no idea!!!!
It's on sale psn
Base game 2.99
Expansion pass 5 bucks
last time i was this early i had something funny to say
No you probably didn’t
9 people really liked that puzzle.
Can you try out Swat 4? It used to be abandonedware until it got picked up by GoG. I don't know if you'll like its type of gameplay but it was a very unique shooter for when it was released.
Here are some videogame recommendations:
Leisure Suit Larry: Box Office Bust
Avatar Movie Game
Syndicate (2009)
Max Payne games
Enslaved: Odyssey to the West
JAREK THE HAT
Nice
9:04
i think they did that for the sequel (which is hopefully coming)
I know you're more a first person shooter guy sir dragon but I'm curious have you ever played or heard of Brutal Legend?
The book is good. A fine companion to the games and DLC
Freedom fighters next!!
Hey jarek as your next game to review why don't you try terminator resistance
you should review syndicate!
You need to play fractured. Great mechanics, bad ai. Or shadow of the damned or Clive barker's Jericho. Idk i love this era of games or just lesser known games. This channel defiantly is a better version if classic game room. Thank you!!!
The nuclear silo is hidden...by an actual silo. Huh
Tbh wouldn’t even mind having a sequel to the revolution but that’ll never happen lmao
“The story itself is a little far fetched anyway.”
Saying a story in which North Korea takes over the fucking United States of fucking America is a little far fetched is the understatement of the fucking century.
Actually taking back America like in MW2? Jackson! Get up to the roof of that Burger Town! The game
Check out SWAT Global Strike Team for PS2.
Go Blazers!
I loved Homefront however after completing the story I was ecstatic to see how it ended which was ok could've been better but what really ruined it was when I saw the fact that you cant play the game anymore you have to restart so what I did was play the last mission about 3 times turn off my PS4 and sold the game.
