This just made my night lol, working on my first harley project same motor and doing some what same thing but going into transmission for the pawl spring
The bushing on the ratchet gear is too loose from wear. You can see the gap at 10:45 to the right side. That will cause problems. Had the same issue with mine. After replacing the the ratchet gear with a new one, that fixed it.
Saddletramp! I love your channel and watch a TON of your videos. I’m honored you’ve taken the time to comment and watch my video! Thanks for the help and expert advice! I have been on hiatus with work and life but am getting ready to get the transmission rebuilt and put back in the bike.
I noticed that kickstarter gear looked like it had some wear on the face. Between that and the bushing that was all scratched up I'm curious what it might mean. Something about that bushing looked off. Of course I could be wildly off base but isn't that what comments sections are for? Really enjoying this. Thanks.
Thanks Mark! We’ll definitely take a look at that. After we got the transmission out, we have a blown out shifter fork and it definitely is the source of the large deposit of metal in the primary. We’ll put it all in the next episode. Thanks for commenting and watching!
might wanna check the play of kicker gear on mainshaft for wear and i agree the brass sleve looks like its rubbin on your cluth basket your teeth on your basket you never showed he audience . need to check it al together for wobble just saying
I definitely agree the kick was wearing. We got the transmission out and the brass in the primary is definitely from a bent shifter fork so once we sort that we’ll address the kick start as well. Thanks for the advice and we appreciate you watching and commenting! Logan

@@GlobalTune thanks! I’m still working on mine, finally have the time to tackle the transmission. Got some big plans for the IronHeadAche. Will have new videos up as soon as I can!

Early 76 Ironheads had the big spring compensator, so you must have a later 76.

So not reverse threads ?
I believe that is correct, no reverse threading.
