- The poet laureate of rock 'n' roll:
"I was born here and I’ll die here against my will
I know it looks like I’m moving, but I’m standing still
Every nerve in my body is so vacant and numb
I can’t even remember what it was I came here to get away from
Don’t even hear a murmur of a prayer
It’s not dark yet, but it’s getting there."
You know your boss when Clapton playing ya rhythm
Amazing: Dylan playing the guitarsolo, while clapton is playing the rhytmguitar.....
Am I allowed to say that THIS is my #1 FAVORITE song of Dylan’s??? Is it possible for someone aaal
Another great Dylan song. Nobody over the last 50 years has brought so many people in the world to the same place, with his vision and his voice. He has been a healer for the world’s travail.
That is the most emotional version of Not Dark Yet that I have heard.
+Chris Dansey Sorry Chris, but I don't agree. I think the studioversion is more emotional, thanks to the wonderful producing work of Daniel Lanois.
+Chris Dansey Still, it is a great version and great that Clapton joins the band here.
It’s just so great.
Love to see the respect and fellowship with Dylan and Clapton two of my faves!
your now enterin dYlan world.........i cant even remember wat it iz i came here 4 to get away from vacant numb.....wat a tune...
Over the past two weeks I just keep playing this version over and over again. Here's to you Mr. Nobel Laureate!
I love that he's showing the Guitar God how to play. :-)
Eric doin the backing chords while Bob sings and plays lead! Must be a first!!
I hit replay like a dozen times
It's Eric's touring band which includes at least Steve Gadd on drums and Andy Fairweather Low on guitar.
Nathan East on bass.
these guys are not just singing a song they are going to war together
it's a different kind of war one of words and emotions and life experiences they are brethren
look at the commitment in the drummers eyes
give that guy a pay rise
Nice ✊🏽✌🏽
Beautiful words Jalcolm0, thank you, I agree with you!😉
one of the best songs ever written
it sums up adult male torture and ageing in the absence of love
Bob has good friends who he doesn't acknowledge very much but that's ok
he has a sense of resolve written all over his face
I have never seen that in another musician
he is full on
the best !!!! I love the way Bob sometimes hits his chords just a tiny fraction ahead of the beat ! Somehow he's found himself a very different guitar style.....
Thanks John! Good share💟
Its not Dark yet, but we are all getting there, pure bless
You're so right, John. So right.. Last I heard, there's no way out.
It's Not Dark Yet, But It's Getting There. Is there more Dylan? Thank you.
Finding these - that were not on the released DVD is like finding a diamond - thank you Mr. Spoor..
Not to many people show up Eric Clapton. Thank you both!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How would our lives be without BOB ? Best shady recollections of growing up were listening to the Great Man through his and my sometimes blurred but meaningful life.
EVEN THOUGH I LOOK LIKE A NUT FOR USING UPPER CASE, JOHN SPOOR DESERVES IT AND A GIANT 'WELL DONE' FOR POSTING THESE GREAT DUETS!!!
Morning NUTTER
This shows again why Dylan is #1. I'm 75 I get it!
Rich Krassen I am 32 and I totally get it too my friend, may you stay forever young!!!!

Wow. To repeat a couple of previous comments: never knew this one existed! What a great performance! Thanks, John! Nuanced, restrained, but powerful.

Whoa! Very good. And Eric Clapton is in the band!
Bob God Blessed You to take us through a hard time for those who could hear we were held and remembered and represented.
took em a while to find the groove - but when they did - great !
there's not even room enough to be anywhere.................
This is the best Version,Great stuff Bob
Fantastic
Fantastic! EC gets schooled!
So "effin GREAT !
Thanks for uploading ths a stunning version of a brilliant song. There are some diamond insights here to find for those who really want to know.
Bello!
Bob Dylan's solo is mesmerizing.
I know! There was something great about watching Eric Clapton watch it happen... seemingly himself picking up on a style as great in its own right as the sheer bombs he's capable of dropping on guitar
Charles Raffaele Looked to me like Clapton was waiting for Bob to hand off. He's looking for a cue, not for tips about how to play. Guys who've played with Bob all say he's unpredictable onstage and you have to watch him for cues. Looks a little irked when Bob goes back to the mic instead. Bob's first solo wasn't great. His second is outright hilarious. After the big wrong note around 4:50 he just says "fuck it" and turns the rest of it into a joke. He's a great songwriter but he's no lead guitarist, and he knows it. Playing a halfassed solo, while not giving Clapton a solo, is his idea of a joke. He doesn't like to be worshipped.
His soloing in this song was tremendous, and I can see from other comments here I'm not the only one that feels that way. Clapton is incredible on guitar, but I don't see the need to get into a 'cult of personality' thing on who's good and who's bad on guitar. An amateur with zero experience can outdo Jimi Hendrix, in the right moment. And for Bob that was what happened here. The 'wrong note' he did, hurt to hear, yes, but as he himself said once 'I don't make perfect recordings'. That's not self-effacing, it's a dedication to spontaneity and taking chances. Clapton had plenty of other solos on songs the two of them performed together at this show; I don't think he was hurting for to take solos on this song.
If you're in Dylan's band you should know to watch him. I am 22, seen him 5 times, the last being in The Palm Desert at Old-Chella. He is unpredictable, and that IS the beauty of it. Can't handle it, then you do not deserve a spot on stage with him. This video is no pissing match, I think everyone can enjoy him taking charge. I enjoyed it thoroughly, and I wasn't even born yet.# _Minnesota
in mathematical music, there is no "wrong" note
wunderschön !
DAMN BOB, MIGHTY FINE
Prestine + sublime = Dylan & Clapton. Plus wizzard Friends. Thanks !
thank you so very much for uploading this! never seen it before.
Erics like im just going to let Bob play !
I may have been at this show. Saw him on this tour at least. Phish played two or three nights after. It as a summer show at Deer Creak. Phil Lesh and Friends played next.
Sublime!!
CAPOLAVORO!!!
love bob's solo
Incredible. Duet with Clapton that is absolutely stunning.
i just saw him @ the Tennessee Theater. It was so closed. A view would be nice.
Nice ..thanks :)
Bob has Clapton playing rhythm.
Pretty fair lead!
omg...I love him, I love this song....so proud he received the Nobel prize...we need bobs message now more than ever!.💖
Bob shows Eric how it is done.
Bellissima, mi colpisce però come anche un GRANDE come CLAPTON fa da spalla,...... l'uomo vero!!
Dylan plays lead not rhytmen..can't believe - he can but doesen' t have to ...but Eric Clapton is a Team- player!! Amazing
FU
ironic, this song was prophetic
meye nerves are vacant and number
now msser. clapton suffers from
peripherial neuropathy and
it leaves the nerves numb and
tingling very painful. as it affect the motor
nerves which allows for voluntary movement.
the net effect is if no treatment is
provided the results are quite devastating
to one that controlled his guitar with
such accuracy and skill.

Wow
God this band really likes strats. You'd think at least one of em would have a different guitar. Even to just balance out the tone.
Steve Gadd on drums?
DYNAMICS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dylan moving a bit…he’s enjoying it
Guitar solos by Bob are a little sloppy, but they have just the right feeling for the song. And it's a really good song.
John, where did you get these tracks that were not on the dvd ?
+Peter Iacontino what DVD?
+tojo4 " Eric Clapton & friends in concert" Madison sq. garden
+tojo4 John Spoor posted 2 songs that were not included on the DVD. not dark yet, & born in time,
I was wondering this too like what??!? Their was more I knew there had to be but didn't think it was born in time and not dark yet I think they also did bright lights big city
You are right Predacon176, BLBC was encore ! I was at the show. Born in time as done on EC Pilgrim cd is a great version .
What makes your hair stand on end? Well that fucking did .
Eric said this is one of his favorite songs, but why would Bob take both solos with Eric on stage with him ??
Because Eric's voicings in support of Bob's solos are exquisitely sublime and take the song to a new place?
Gauraonline - because Eric hasn't done anything since 1969
lots of mutual respect on stage! Clapton is pure blues mans
Circles over
4:48 well, only God is positioned to play a sloppy guitar solo, while Eric Clapton is doing rhythm, and listening to it.
