Hey guys! Sorry for the long wait on the videos we have been seriously struggling to find suitable wifi.... But we have a lot more to come this is our last video from the Tokyo series next up is INDIA! Right now I am in Italy! If you'd like to see some of that now before the videos come out check me out on Instagram and Facebook - instagram.com/derpyluke facebook.com/chopsticktravel
Japan is my first #1 place to travel once all this pandemic is over! So much to see, culturally and culinary... plus all the Kawaii things will entertain my little son 🍣 🇯🇵
When I miss Japan, it is often a food memory that triggers the feeling. I love and miss Japanese cuisine. Sharing a meal makes people like each other or as the feel closer with strong bond. Eating the same food leads to trust and cooperation because they feel closer with the feeling of intimacy among those eating together, share the experience with eating and drinking.
What I like is your honesty in talking about the food. I lived in Japan, teaching English for a couple of years. You bring back a lot of memories. Nice technical work on your video, audio and editing. Probably one of the best things about your videos is just your natural way of presenting information. You draw our attention to the foods, people and places rather than yourself. Good job.
It is likely a Japanese style Chinese music as you can hear the taiko in it which is absent in actual Chinese music. Some Japanese folk music also sounds like Chinese music.
cylusss well the music is called Sushi Master, the author may have at least written with Japanese music in mind. To me it sounds like a mix between Japanese and Chinese music. The string at the start sounds more like yangqin.
Awesome video guys! That daikon looked incredibly juicy- I can almost taste it! Definitely one of my favourite oden items. Also loved the look of the chicken skin yakitori and that shrimp and onion tempura. Japan has such an amazing food culture- we can't wait to return! Great stuff guys! Cheers, Sheena
When eating street food, I always pick the one where the old lady is cooking.. there’s something magical about it. Always loved watching my grandma cook. I was always in the kitchen with her.
lol. In High School, my teacher thought I was Canadian. I had a muddled accent from everywhere I've lived. Southern, German, Valley, and Hawaiian accents all mixed together, and she tells me "Say a-b-o-u-t." Smart Alec me: "A-b-o-u-t." "No... the word!" "I'm not Canadian. It's about, not aboot."
I've just discovered your videos about a week ago, and have bingewatch. I gotta say, your videos are great man! Well executed, well knowledge. 👍👍👍👍👍 Take care you guys! Hopefully covid goes away soon, so we all can travel. 💜
I just gave like after seeing those old grannies.....nd wanna try it some day... And secondly I liked ur behaviour and the manner u talk and express these!!! Cool....m impressed...love from India!!!💜💓💖💕💟

thank you for eating Japanese food. Korokke are made by minced beef, mashed potatoes n some vegs which is my favorite food☺️ Japanese hot pot (Oden) are sooooo yummy. If u could come to Japan next time, u have to try putting on Karashi which is kind of spicy source, like Wasabi. Oops, don't put on too much😆 I lived in Canada for 7monthes but I gotta go home Japan for corona and some reasons. I may made mistake English vocabulary tho sorry about that
Luke, you didn't disappoint. I'm loving your Japan tour. I especially like that you approach the less exotic things with the same enthusiasm as you do with extremely exotic stuff. That is how I like to travel and tour also. Keep it up. My wife and I look forward to your videos so much. :D Cheers.
Oh, by the way, Tokyo (and the rest of Kanto) uses a different base for their dashi. Tokyo dashi is often bonito based, while kelp (konbu) is more of a Kansai version.
A wonderful street food tour video! You made me feel like having all those delicious food and drink on the tip of my tongue, and showed me how the culture roots on the culinary. Good job! Thank you, Luke and team! I am eager to see your other videos.
When I go to japan first time, I thought my nr 1 most addicted food would be sushi or ramen. But in the end.... Oden is the one I love the most! It was recommended by a japanese older man who I have met in the same restauranr. We have been talking through google translate for an hour, it was a very fun experience
Continue to enjoy your methods of enjoying the foods and culture. You presentation is straight forwards without a lot of dramatics. Keep going, young man, you are fun to share experiences with on your travels!
Greetings from New York!! It's early Sunday morning.... little after 6am! You were killing me with all those yummy food! I love Tempura & MENCHI KATSU! They call the onion & shrimp mixed one "EBI NO KAKISGE"! That's my favorite Tempura!(^^) The breaded fried Minced meat/onions is called "MENCHI KATSU" which was my favorite as a little girl!(^^) The sweet red beans dessert is ,"YOUKAN" which is perfect with teas! The white rice inside of the sweet seasoned beancurd pocket is "INARI" or "INARI ZUSHI" There are a lot more food but now I'm really hungry...but it's too early for the breakfast on weekend!(^^) What was your favorite food & why? What was your least favorite food & why? How long have you been living in Japan? I enjoy your video.... although it made me so hungry....(^^)(^^)(^^)

Thanks Luke for your videos, especially this one the land of my ancestors. Love that you enjoyed the food, now I'm hungry hahaha. Next time you could go to Okinawa -it is another culture- and even the food is more delicious. Happy travelling and take care.
You are very welcome, I love the respect you show for the food you try. I'm sure some of them must be not so good. But you remind me of Anthony Bourdain -the kitchen bad boy- who is amazingly respectful for the food and the people too. I work in high end catering and still feel guilty for all the food we throw away after the parties, when so many millions are starving. But I love my work, so... i'll have to carry my guilt in this iifetime. Be safe when you travel.
The bottles behind of you at 4:36 are not 日本酒(sake) but all 焼酎(shochu) Shochu is a kind of distilled liquor made from sweet potato, wheat etc It's similar to tequila, whiskey and vodka etc

Great videos! Luke. Good work again! Cannot help smashing the like button! I miss yakitori in Japan! Last time I tried chicken bones (nankotsu) and chicken butts in a yakitori shop. Surprisingly good!
Very well done, now I'm craving fried foods. Keep describing how the food taste, it adds to the visual being alot of people never tasted these foods before.
