I once had the chance to drive the 2l 150hp m50b20 version, 5 Speed left hand drive. It was a real blast! I love old bmws. Now I own a 150 hp 520i E39 sedan, right hand drive, former automatic that was converted to manual. I love it! Where was your pov drive video taken. I guess somewhere in Asia, I'm I right? I can't make it out clearly. Malaysia?
@Baohnpaohlupunadaaldreier - you are right. So far the clips been taken on Malaysia's cars and roads. Hopefully we get to extend to Singapore, Thailand and Indonesia roads vehicles and roads as well
And how do you deal with high temperatures? I hear your visco fan the whole time which is always a good sign when it's so freaking hot outside. I live in Central Europe. Well it can get up to 30 degrees celsius in the summer but it's only for a few days or weeks... When it's getting so hot Im always afraid that my cooling system fails... Once you had cooling problems with an old bmw you always keep an eye on the temperature gage😂😂
FACT my dad had an e36 328i which overheated because of some failure, headgasket went and he sold it sadly... but now he's thinking of buying an e34 520i can't wait man.
@Baohnpaohlupunadaaldreier - good point and overheating is a common thing for us here, and affecting almost all type of cars. not just old BMWs. 1. Knowing that you are driving an older machine (in this case is more than 20 yrs :)), most of the drivers here make it a habit/practice to check on the oil and water/coolant level before cold start the car. It only takes less than 5 mins and a piece of cloth or soft tissue. Many basic issues can be avoided if this is covered. 2. Knowing that the older car A/C compressor or other major parts probably easier to break, reconsidering how you switch on the A/C (not too rush after cold start, not leave it at ON mode all the time) may help to prolong the life span. 3. and agree with your point, always-always checking out the temperate gauge, especially when idling/not moving (wait for spouse doing quick groceries, quick bank/ATM stops etc). We have to teach our family members how to read them :)
Thanks for sharing @Nathan'sLife. Yes can be painful especially when we are late to react to temperature rising situation. Hope my shared tips as below can help to allow us the drivers to be more cautious. Good luck with the e34 hunt! Certainly a nice machine to drive. I feel it so comfortable and effortless despite the heavy body. Owh, hope we get to review an e36 soon too!
@@NathansLife my head gasket blew up 1 1/2 years ago. I replaced the engine and kept the car, i could never sell my 6 cyl e39, i would rather buy another engine before i'd give the car away. Well i hope that your dad didn't change his plans to buy an e34. I wanted an e34 so bad before i fell in love with that blue e39.
@@drivegertodrive6298 in hot countries overheating is always a problem. I always get very nervous when i have to wait in front of a red light for several minutes when its really hot outside, that often ends in yelling at the red light or alle those "assholes" standing in front of me😂 but i keep an eye on the cooling temperature in my bc, i don't know if that works with an e34 as well but i can open a secret onboard computer menu that shows me the exact temperature in celsius. If its in a sort of okay range i yell less at the red light 😂.
Please share your experiences driving this machine
