    I got a used one and thought it was weird but turns out some of these secondary functions were on. thanks for the demo

    Crazily, this pedal also lets you plug in an Expression Pedal (see the manual for details). And it can control any knob. When you turn the pedal on, you hold down the Tap button, then turn a knob, and that knob becomes what is controlled by the Expression Pedal. And I think that, wherever you turn it up to, becaomse the value of the pedal at Max Forwards position. (I'm assuming maybe this only works for the primary knob functions, and not the secondary ones).
    I'll have to try this some time! Could be cool for Tape Age, Wow & Flutter, Repeats... shall have to play around.

    I tossed mine a drawer and forgot about it. It was to complicated. But now I want to understand and use it.
    So far this video is the best I’ve seen but it still raises more questions than it answers.

      @TheTom7878 3 года назад +4

      What do you mean when you say complicated. It seems pretty straight forward to me. Are you talking about using it in a live performance?

    • @muzboz
      @muzboz 28 дней назад

      Yeah, fantastic pedal, but I always wish it's function was self explanatory just by looking at it, and it'd be nice if this pedal was annotated better on it's design, or even better, had 10 knobs instead of 5. Obviously a tricky trade off when trying to make a pedal with so many features! But yeah... I came here to try to remember how it works, because I couldn't turn the reverb on. Having to look up a video to understand a guitar pedal you've already used in the past is obvously a non-ideal design & implementation of a thing! :D

    The secondary features are great of course, but pushing the 2 footswitches is tedious of you want to adjust on the fly during a gig. They better could've put a switch somewhere with 1 & 2 or something. I was on the fence a long time for this one, but I ended up with the new Boss Space Echo Re-2. It's smaller, so it saves space and it sounds better (that's personal, I know). And it has double knobs/dials, it's a little fiddly but it works great once you get used to it. I can dial-in reverb on the fly in between songs, that's a lot faster.

    • @muzboz
      @muzboz 28 дней назад

      Yeah, I always find secondary functions on a single interface confusing, hard to remember how to use it, and the knobs immediately fail to represent actual values for at least one function! So it's a bit frustrating. Meanwhile, it's also great to have all these fantastic controls for the sounds! :D Not quite sure how to really improve this. I think ideally I'd rather have another 5 knobs somewhere, even if they were tiny "trim pot" style knobs that are harder to get to. That way all 10 functions would actually represent their true values, and be more WYSIWYG. I'd especially like it if there was a dedicated knob for Reverb, and it'd be nice if there was dedicated controls for other more common controls, like Tape Crinkle, Tape Bias and maybe even "Low Cut" (ie: almost all of them!) :D

    • @muzboz
      @muzboz 28 дней назад

      It's always non-ideal when you have to do what I'm about to do, which is to grab my pedal and stick a whole lot of little notes on it, about how it actually works, labelling the secondary controls with little stuck on pieces of paper. :)

    For some reason I’ve always hated controls that require two hands. Why couldn’t they just make push/pull knobs? Or an alt switch? Anyway thanks for the great demo of the functions! Beautiful sounding pedal.

    I'm using this pedal in my electronic set a lot for drone stuff : ) great pedal, it also gets great boost for overall sound as it's stero makes track sound more dimensionaly, and really good pedal to experiment with

    Seems strange that people now want the degregation sounds that we tried desperately to remove all those years ago.

      I believe it saves your settings in something like a Flash Memory type of thing, which should last forever (I think!).

    I notice that often when the El Cap is demo’ed vs real tapes and other delays that it sounds very dark. It seems like you basically need the bass contour all the way up to match the sound of real machines. Thoughts?

  • @nine9whitepony526

    So when you hold both switches down and adjust something, does it stay on the secondary function? Or does it return to primary function as soon as you let off on both foot switches?

    • @DougHanson
      @DougHanson  2 года назад

      It returns to normal function when you let off both switches

    • @nine9whitepony526
      @nine9whitepony526 2 года назад

      @@DougHanson So it's something that you're gonna want to set up before you actually use it. By Altering it mid song your primary settings will be all changed. I just bought this pedal yesterday and have been playing around with it blindly for several hours haha. I'm so glad that you took the time to actually learn how to use it to it's full potential, and then make a video about it. Now I have a much better understanding of it. Thank you. 😊

    If you are comparing secondary function effect the knobs should be returned to their primary positions after setting or you are changing primary and secondary!

    • @Eli_B3000

      Nope, the primary stays where it was until you adjust it again, I'm testing it as I type.
