    It's strange to hear that PCR tests ain't standard, having relied solely on then in Australia, for free! Sorry to hear about that carpet pull under your feet.

    • @benolifts
      @benolifts  2 года назад +4

      PCR tests are free for people with symptoms, and lateral flow tests are free for people without symptoms. But the free tests are not accepted as for the day 2 test after arriving in the UK. You have to buy an official test. Back before the PCR day 2 rule, there were loads of companies that were getting free lateral flow tests from the government, then they stuck a sticker on it to "prove" it was taken as an official day 2 test, then they charged you £60 for their services. This happened throughout 2021. By November 2021 this price had reduced and I was then able to afford to do my Ivano Frankivsk trip. But then the goverment changed the rules to PCR and the prices went back up again.
      It is no coindedence that the companies that are charging stupid amounts of money for PCR tests, as well as charging stupid amounts of money to put stickers on free lateral flow tests, are actually conservative party donators. Some senior government MPs have second jobs working as consultants for private companies, who then use their position as an MP to get favors for the comply.

      I also don't like paying for tests, but I understand, sort of why. In Queensland (my state), there are no circumstances, even during travel, where tests aren't free.

    Kinda weird that you weren't able to go on a train from the airport, as there is regular service 5 times a day (I know, not enough, but it is operating). maybe you were there during some trackworks but as far as I'm aware, the train should have been running

      Some of the names of the towns on the Katowice tram network seems very hard to pronounce. (such as Sosnowiec).
      Also how do you pronounce Szczecin. I am completely lost on how to say it.
      Also on my Wrocław video people told me I said it completely wrong. I called it Wro-claw, and I was told it should be Wro-slar

      @@benolifts so, in order, Sos-novy-yets, Shchechin (the first bit sounds like the middle bit of pushchair) and VROTS-wav. Hard to do it precisely in text but I hope that's some help. It's no problem anyway, Polish isn't easy and you explore cool stuff we don't even see ourselves so keep doing what you do!

    The diesel loco that appears later is a "Goggles," I believe it is a Communist era type. It's a great pity that there are no Grumpies left in service (Bardotkas) as they sounded magnificent, with a bit of the Class 37 in the noise.
