Punk Rock, Heavy Metal, Folk, No Wave, New Wave, Alt Country and probably 12 others owe this guy a debt of gratitude. He paved the roads for us to walk.
I will be forever grateful that I learned so many songs from the recordings he produced. He was an amazing singer and actor. This is a wonderful recording of one of his concerts. Thanks
Few entertainers were accepted into Mensa, an organization limited to high IQ's. Bikel was a member. His versatility was phenomenal. I discovered him 60 odd years ago in his long play record with a booklet of transliterations of Songs of a Russian Gypsy, which can now be heard on RUclips, till now without transliterated lyrics.
I've always loved his work. The Twilight Zone, Columbo, I Bury the Living, and Naked City's Murder is a Face I Know, which is on Retro right now, 200 Motels and Shadow Conspiracy. Didn't know he played guitar, pretty good too. The Twilight Zone episode Four O' Clock with his Oliver Crangie character a real stand out for me. His great voice from that episode is always in my minds ear. I'm going to have to get some of his music for my music collection. One of the GREATS For Sure
the Naked City episode is wonderful. He also appeared in an episode with William Shatner...Shatner plays a painter who kills his wife, and Theo is his shrink..
Such a good actor---he played Brando's best German officer pal in "The Young Lions" and a German U-boat's first officer in "The Enemy Below"...outstanding.
Darby o' gill made an amazing Irish bar song from this. Pandora introduced me to it a few days ago, and I've only been able to find it on groove shark since. someone should check it out and remedy this.
Darby O'Gill stuff is so hard to find. Was introduced to them through Pandora as well. Great music, funny guys, but it is a bitch and a half to find a lot of their stuff
Theodore Bikel was such a talented individual. Real playing, real voice, depth of understanding and feeling. Shalom, you beautiful man.

I would have chosen to sit on a lower chair though. Fuck that guy for sitting on a stool. What an asshole.
Music came out of him like other people breathe. A true artist and a mensch.
ביצוע מדהים של איש מדהים
He was one of a kind. I had the privilege of seeing him perform live at the Ivanhoe Restaurant in Chicago many years ago, and it was unforgettable.

This guy was so great. I was fortunate enough to see him in a live performance back in the 1960s in Omaha. He sang this song.
Nice

Happy 100th birthday!
My Mam took me to see the play, Fiddler on the Roof. It was an absolute thrill to be seated in that theatre and watch him perform!
