@@RichardHarlos It's so very rare for meat substitutes to taste exactly like the original meat ingredient. Maybe the flavour is similar because of the sauce, but texture is so hard to get right. Even different types of meat don't taste (flavour/texture) like each other - e.g. turkey bacon is nothing like pork bacon. That doesn't mean the alternatives aren't good though.

0:53 L-cystein is usually made from feathers, hog hair, and other slaughterhouse bi-products. It is a common ingredient in bread, bake mixes, and outside EU, also in flour. In products made for the EFTA market, it's in the ingredient list as E910 and E920. Within EU, food products that can be generally expected to not/traditionally do not contain animal products, must be market as containing "animal products" if they do (hence some wheat flour being marked with "contain animal products"). In the US, a product not marked as "vegan", "cosher", or "contain no animal products", are allowed to contain cysteine from random animal sources, without any warning label. As I understand it (not being an American, nor vegan/vegetarian), within the US market, bread, flour, bake mixes et c., usually contain animal sourced cysteine, and is not allowed to be exported to EU, without proper relabeling. Which is one of many similar "trade barriers", that Trump wanted removed, and used as an excuse to initiate a trade war with EU (thankfully, he seemed to have gotten distracted, and the trade war never went really serious (except for a few kinds of businessis)).

Alot of us do miss the taste of meat, most of us were brought up eating it and it tastes nice. It is that it is from an animal which is disgusting it makes me feel all squeamish thinking about it, the pain of the animal it’s basically a fried carcass. Over having bread that wasn’t a being once, yet has the same nice nostalgic flavour and texture. (Sorry if I have explained this dodgy I think it’s a perspective thing.)
@@earthnelson yall soy boys dont understand the heath effects of the trash you put in your body 😂. Sadly, my suspicions were correct. No gluten = no glue, and the bread just fell to pieces as soon as I dipped it into the sauce. I tried to go ahead and make some "bacon bits" but I had the heat turned up too high and they got quite burnt, which was my bad. But I could tell they would be really good if I hadn't burnt them. It would make a good topping for a salad, however I'm not sure it's worth the effort just for some bacon bits.
Since i had some of the sauce left over, I decided to saute some marinated carrot strips. Even though I turned the heat down, it still burnt very quickly. I think it's because of the maple syrup. I'm not sure how to get them crispy without burning them.
After watching so many sophisticated vegan bacon recipes from you with hard to get ingredients. I would have never guessed a simple recipe that has bread as its main ingredient would come close to those recipes. While I'm not vegan, I might try this some day when I'm overseas with no easy access to Halal meat
@@carolmiller5058 that's great, thanks. From what I can see mushroom seasoning is basically that with a few more additives but you can probably add those in powder form as well
Sooo good! I made this right after watching and it was amazing! I did tweak the recipe a bit making it way easier and used alot less ingredients. I went to the store and bought thick cut bacon. I'm laughing thinking about how the keto peeps would react to this 😂
I don’t want bacon from bread, I want bread from bacon!
That’s what I was expecting/hoping for when RUclips came up with this in my feed…
They are happy because they are eating real bacon… 🥓
just made this at home and it's awesome!
We need to see a non vegan try this just to see if they say it tastes like bacon cuz I kinda don't trust a vegan especially one who hasn't had meat for years
Dude it’s so obvious it does not taste like bacon… It could be good it could be delicious, but it can’t be or taste like bacon.
@@resenhasdoflow7868 I'm curious: how many vegan bacon substitutes have you tried so far?
@@RichardHarlos It's so very rare for meat substitutes to taste exactly like the original meat ingredient. Maybe the flavour is similar because of the sauce, but texture is so hard to get right. Even different types of meat don't taste (flavour/texture) like each other - e.g. turkey bacon is nothing like pork bacon. That doesn't mean the alternatives aren't good though.
@@pianoonparade Not only the texture but the taste as well. Like low carb bread or low carb pizza crust don't take like bread or normal pizza crust .. it can be a great alternative, but it absolutely always fail to take exactly the same. I dont mind faking food I've done it, but dont try to convince people it taste the same, it just make yourself look bad.
@@resenhasdoflow7868 I wasn't convincing anyone it tastes the same? I think you tagged the wrong person
I made this and it is really good. Thank you for the video.
Finally a way to show my bf how bacon tastes like without him being guilty about it hehe ^^
Thank you for sharing. I'm decreasing my meat income and having similar tasting, healthier alternatives makes things easier. Cant wait to check out your other videos
I'm not vegetarian or vegan and I enjoy meat too much to give it up, however I'm always down to try plant based alternatives. Your videos are so well crafted it really makes me want to try some of the recipes myself!
Hey dude, Im not vegan, and never ever will be, but I have been watching your videos for years, and sometimes it inspires me to try some of this stuff out, its all about the cooking, hey it doesn't replace meat for me and it never will, but I love the videos, and seeing all the flavours and things that can be made with plants at home is incredible, keep it up, and maybe try some arabic food, love me some of that
vegans be like “meat is horrible and disgusts me” and then try to make something that looks and tastes exactly like meat
(Sorry if I have explained this dodgy I think it’s a perspective thing.)
think deeper... the disgust is animal cruelty, environmental and health effects
we do it because it upsets you
@@douglasjordan7760 doesn’t upset me just find it odd
@@earthnelson yall soy boys dont understand the heath effects of the trash you put in your body 😂. Plus you dont even know what animal cruelty is, youre killing their environment with your daily life. So someone eating them is not any worse than giving them cancer, destroying their habitat snd polluting their air🤦♂️ keep it up though, your test levels and sperm count are 0, all while doing nothing to help animsls💀
I'm not a vegetarian, but always fascinated how people are so creative when coming up meat substitutes.
I just noticed that you're on Amazon. Oh my.. I'm going to check it out RIGHT NOW.
Thats awesome!! Thank you!
All I need is the mushroom seasoning - headed to my local Asian market tomorrow.
I'm going to try this with gluten free bread and see how it turns out. It might fall to pieces, we'll see.
That would be interesting!! PLEASE report back... because that could spark a whole new way to make gluten free plant based meats!
please let us know. we have celiacs in our family that can't have gluten.
How did it go
Sadly, my suspicions were correct.
Looks amazing, definitely want to try it! Any suggestions where to find mushroom seasoning or an alternative in the UK?
I couldn’t find any so I just put dried mushrooms into a processor and pulsed it to a powder 🤓
That's a brilliant idea!! Thank you so much!
@@carolmiller5058 that's great, thanks. From what I can see mushroom seasoning is basically that with a few more additives but you can probably add those in powder form as well
That actually looks delicious ngl

"Look at what they need to mimic a fraction of our power"
You can see how BREAD might soak up some flavor? Brilliant observation! Informative video.
Sooo good! I made this right after watching and it was amazing! I did tweak the recipe a bit making it way easier and used alot less ingredients. I went to the store and bought thick cut bacon. I then skipped the bread flatning and all the spices and just put the bacon right on my black stone griddle at a medium low heat and cooked it so it was still chewy. SUCH AN AMAZING RECIPE!
haha
2:29 "FLATTENED BREAD STRIPS!!" 😂😂 I actually burst out laughing. EDIT: I watched it 4 more times and I laugh out loud every time.
Sauce stache dont feed ducks bread. Just don't. Lettuce and other vegetables are ok but don't do bread
7:00 HAHAHHAH she say it is good before the bacon even hits her tongue. and he is like "wtf"!
It is said that it was found out bread harms ducks and birds. So please don’t ever feed them bread
Yeah!! No more bread for ducks!! Thank you!
@@SauceStache just popped in to say this too, glad it was already noted and noticed!
I just did this with tortilla instead of bread, and it came out pretty well
This is going to be interesting. Surprise me food wizard.
Ohhh you WILL be surprised!!!
@@SauceStache So easy to make and looks delicious, I will definetly try it out tomorrow!
Saw this receipe and made it this morning its so suprizing how good it is.
Looks good. Funny to think you're replacing bacon with bread on a sandwich that contains bread. I guess any sandwich becomes a triple decker
its funny... but good! haha
Finally a affordable way to eat bacon
a blt with this bacon would double down on the bread and could be interesting
It was super super good!! This is a total win
Someone else in the comments said its good its worth a try it seems to be a very easy to try 🤷
Make a 2 full slices of bread like this and add real bacon now your talking.
How did this end up in my Reccomendations?
Brain: Who cares it's bacon.
Yeah you right.
This guy: looks at a slice of bread
"Oh yeah this is a good strip of sliced pork belly"
Similar to what I've done! Please try this with tortillas! Mine is good but I wanna see your improvements😃
This guy is basically jesus but instead of turning water into wine he turns bread into meat.
You know... you can call what you make ANYTHING YOU WANT. That's the beauty of making it yourself.
Don’t feed bread to ducks. It’s exstreamly low in nutrition and ex’s panda in their stomachs so that they then feel full.
Oats, cooked rice, bird seed, are much much better ways to go.
This is very convenient to do, thank you, I'll definitely try it
I wonder what would be the plant protein powder to add to that ? Does that Malt paste have protein ?? I would have to research Thanks for the inspiration 🐽❤️
I made this. Except I didn't use a skillet, I used a George Foreman grill and let everything grill for about 6 minutes. Delicious.
BLT Hack... leave the bread uncut (crust still off) to make a slab of bread bacon for a sandwich!
I know a lady who does something very similar with banana peels. Good stuff!
Never give water fowl bread, and please use organic bread... all wheat in Canada is desiccated with Round Up, only organic wheat is good to eat.
