Good video, but there is couple more information about ac/hold. It works up to 10 minutes, also it is important what are your actual settings on your climate controle, it should warm up your car in the winter as well. But I had situations on rainy days that it fog up all windows ?! Also you can you ac/hold only one time and then you have to wait some time to use it again.

I also have issues with windows fogging up. I think in my case it is because the AC is warming up the air, allowing it to hold more moisture. The moisture then condenses on the cold windows.
It’s especially bad if the 10 minutes is up and I don’t get into the car for a few mInutes after. The air begins to cool down again and the water in the air begins condensing even faster.
Unfortunately the AC system can’t remove moisture fast enough in those 10 minutes to counteract this. The solution is to reduce the moisture in the cabin so when it does heat up there isn’t excess moisture for the air to pick up.
In my case there isn’t anything I can really do because my issue is snow, both tracked in on my feet and snow brush. No matter how much I try to knock snow off the brush and my feet, repeatedly getting in and out during the winter will lead to significant amounts of snow in the car. Although I still try by dumping/drying out the floor mats, drying out the snow brush, and running the heat for awhile and then opening the doors (to replace the warm humid air with cold dry air) and then letting the heat run again for awhile.
But if you live in a place where it doesn’t snow I would recommend getting a big bag of desiccant to help remove moisture. Also check for leaks as water may be getting into the cabin.

On the European models, you just have to hold the AC button down until the indicator lights flash, no need to press lock first.
If you push and hold the lock button on the fob, it will also close any open windows.

    • @tonyadigitalnorway1155

@@ourtimeforliberty Here in Europe you have to specify that you want the "hold AC" function to be activated.
The Toyota dealer usually does it for free as it only takes a few minutes.
When it is working, your climate system will turn on and operate with the current settings which means pre-cooling the cabin in the Summer and pre-heating in the Winter. Prius Prime vehicles are not able to be controlled by an app here in Norway and they also dropped support for Android screen mirroring for some reason despite it being described in the owners manual.

I can rarely get mine to work. It’s worked in the past on and off, but more often than not, nothing happens.

I'm not sure but I think ac on the button means air control? In my pruis prime 2021 I don't have to push lock first and when I hold ac it just starts up whatever climate setting was last set too. It's always cold where I am so when I push ac my heater starts

I think the labelling from button to what's on the manual can be misleading. While yes, it does turn A/C on, it actually just switches ON the HVAC system, so whatever setting you had on it before you turned it off should resume on activating this mode. So if you had A/C on before, it'll turn it back on with the button press, from what I understand...
So, if you parked your car in the garage and had all the fans off and the temp set to hot, I dont think holding down the A/C button will change the temp setting to cold, but can someone confirm this? How would the car know what setting you actually desire? It's more of a remote start for your HVAC system, with I'm assuming no way to change those settings until you enter your car.
This system runs exclusively on the traction battery, so if that gets depleted in the 10 mins of cooling then it will just stop and will not start the ICE.
It's still a great feature and 10 mins is more than enough to set a comfortable cabin temperature.

In winter can it do heat to defrost the windshield?

    • @Wolfsheim23
      @Wolfsheim23 2 года назад +1

I imagine that in that situation you want to have your a/c mode set to blow the air at the top under the windshield. And you have the temp turned up so it runs the heat. If you shut down your prius with those settings in place, the A/C button should turn on everything with those same settings. At least I think so.

Is there any way to be ASSURED that the air conditioner is running? And, what is the amount of time required between stopping the car, getting out, and then pressing the Hold A/C button? The reason I'm asking is concerning my dog. If I leave the dog in the car while I "run into the grocery store" I don't want the police breaking my windows due to an heat stroke dog. Also, is there an app that I can use to watch the temperature inside the car?

    • @dyautodelivery2890

Hi Teresa ! The only way to be 100% sure if the AC is running is to stay next to it while and use this feature. You should hear the fan turn on after 4 seconds after you activate the HOLD AC Button. When you get out of your car and lock the door you can use this feature right away. There is no indicator inside the car that will tell you it is on, all you will hear is a loud fan. Since there is no indication from the inside you might need to put a note saying "The AC in on please don't break my window" They should be able to hear the fan. Unfortunately to my knowledge there is no app that tells you if the AC is on or not. Just remember this feature will only be active for 10 minutes. Hope this helps!

Don't ever leave your dog locked up in the car even if the air conditioning is running ! You'd never know what might hold you up or if something might happen,

Teresa, I believe they have temperature gauges that you can put in your car and then connect to an app to see the temp in the car.
