I use to work as a canvas stretcher, it will make your life so, so much easier if you give yourself some extra linen around the edges to stretch over the bar, using the bar as extra leverage for the pliers while stretching. That way you will not have have hold the linen tight with your fingers to staple Xx
Thank you for this tip!! With pre-prepared linen it feels so tough that it’s in the way but with this thin linen that makes so much sense. :-) will keep it in mind for the next one.
I find it so interesting that you are a self taught artist and your paintings are so huge and bold, you now have a huge studio and also give art lessons. You are bold and brave!
Thanks for your comment! I hear ‘self taught’ every once in a while but it really doesn’t feel like that, as I did go to art school, just not for fine art but fashion design. Didn’t get the painting lessons, but did get the learning to look and see what my taste was lessons for 4 years :-) there’s multiple ways to get to what you want in life!
Also, I love the classroom country art aesthetic this video has going. (In addition to my own hobby, I'm also an elementary teacher. My art medium is both ink and broken "smart" board. It's quite the spectacle. lol) Much love,
This is such a gorgeous video :) i loved all the angles, the colors, and seeing bits of your process. Super inspiring! Also, your atelier is beautiful :)
I just found you and I am glad I did. Your are so inspiring. Your work is jaw dropping beautiful. Thank you for sharing what you do. You are affecting my creativity in my own work (which is very different from yours) in a very emotional way.
Hey Roxy, your new studio looks so cool and i really like your new Paintings. So interesting to see all the steps you go with these two. The color composition is so nice! I love that part with the foot and that purple and (reflecting?) ground.looks so cool! And Yes "Painting first"! Especially now with the shorter days, i also switch my routine to first painting and then computer work :) Somehow i just need daylight to paint, artificall light doesn`t works for me. Hope you have a more calm November :)
Thank you Gina! The two new ones feel SO different because the space to make them is just so much bigger. Really liking the new direction and thanks for noticing! I prefer working in daylight too, colours kind of fall flat in artificial light (or I’d have to finish the whole painting in artificial lights).
Thanks! I just order them online from a big art store (Gerstaecker) and that’s pretty much the only big place that sells them around NL, Belgium and Germany.

Excuse the audio quality in the studio shots, a new mic is on its way :-) Hope you enjoy this changing of the seasons vlog with me!

Much love,
On that buckled canvas...best to spray water on the back once it's stretched and before painting
Thanks! I did, but it didn’t work unfortunately. Maybe I didn’t use enough water? Trial and error
You are a true artist❤❤❤❤❤❤

Loved the video! I was wondering where you get your stretcher bars from? I am having difficulty finding quality stretcher bars in store!
