I have a Sony X700 multi region player...and as I live in the UK..I can play all those Shout Factory and Kino Lorber Blu Rays from the USA...well worth it.
UB DP-8200k user here. They say the player isn't region free but there's a trick you can do to get the player to play any movie or tv show regardless of what region it is. Love the panasonic players they're top notch superb. Never had any issues with mine.
Wow! - It comes already region free - awesome! That's really cool that the region codes for the blu ray's are programed in the remote! I own an Oppo BDP93 which I bought already region free; it is STILL working great but it is not 4K, so I had to buy a 4K player; bought the UB9000 Panasonic last Summer; love it. I haven't bumped into any region restricted movies yet, but I heard there is a sequence of button presses on the remote that will bypass the region on the Panasonic players....we'll see. Happy for you!
The DP-U820 can be bought in the UK with full Bluray and DVD Multiregion mods for the equivalent of $556 (£449), $200 cheaper than the original US price, and almost $100 cheaper than the price you paid. The UK model seems to be something of a bargain in comparison.
Awesome choice "again". I have the same and it's one of the best. Pairs great w/ my LG 65" C1 OLED. Thank you for the video. One issue is, I wish we got a back light in the remote. Thanks again...
I've been region free since the early 2000s with I purchased my region free DVD player. Now I have 3 4K players that have been modified region free. This is why I recommend it, don't be stuck on region A.
Panasonic makes good stuff. My TV and surround sound is made by them. And they are superb. The top of the range Panasonic 4K player is supposed to be amazing and then some.
I had two uB820s but ended up moving up to a Reavon 4k which is also region free. There's a lot of discussion as i made a video comparing the same disc in two 820s it had over 14k views. Check with your region as the player may be locked onto region. B and you may need to switch it back over to region A again to play US discs.
Congrats on that purchase. Newbie question, but does it also play regular DVDs region free? I'm looking for something that can handle all of my formats.
As I mentioned in this video, I know the hack and I have made a video about it. However, it doesn't by pass all labels, which I display in the hack video. With this new player, now I don't have to worry about using the hack.
I thought about making a video about my opinion about it, but I see all these videos on topic, so I figured people would get annoyed by another video. But I wouldn’t mind making one .
after pressing 2 for region B you would then not be able to watch your region A if you just put it in the tray, you would have to click 1 for it to work, it remembers the last number you pressed so every time you change region code you need to press the required number
Kind of Poitless Blu Rays are Mostly Region Free You can spot a Blu ray Free By Looking the code on the disc The only Region locked Blu rays are those made in country But I see use on the DVD side those are Dead Locked

I've made a video about the hack, which I mentioned and posted the link as well.
I'm currently on a Panasonic UB 9000 since its launch where I got it day one. Love it and never had any issues.
Awesome!
Heck yeah!

Gina! Hope you're doing well. Check out my video on the Description Section, Panasonic UB820 hack. I go through the sequence.
I went region free at xmas, thanks to my wonderful wife.
Best Christmas present ever!
The UB 820 is a fantastic player with CD’s
Great player. Have the ub820 since 2023 and no issues so far. Pairs so well with my c2 oled. Its a fantasitc upscaler too
It's definitely the best upscaler out there.
That’s sweeet. Currently I’m using my Xbox one x and I’m currently in the market for a new player
I highly recommend the Panasonic UB820. Best Buy I think is having a sale. Definitely get the added warranty.
@ I hear that one’s the best!!

Damn, that's a deal!
Region Free is the best thing I ever did! Enjoy my friend
Unlimited power!

This is the way... (Mandalorian theme song)

Had a lot of issues with Panasonic players. I went for Pioneer in the end.
Which one did you get?

Yup! I mention this in the video.
@@Franksmediaandreviews ok thanks. Thought I heard that.
I have two UB 820 and I would get the older one multi region here in Australia.
You don't know the hack you can do to all Panasonic's also the standard 820 to play all discs?

Hey Frank, I know it's off topic, but what do u think about Stu coming back?
I thought about making a video about my opinion about it, but I see all these videos on topic, so I figured people would get annoyed by another video. But I wouldn’t mind making one .
@Franksmediaandreviews , I would love to hear ur thoughts on it, I don't think ppl would get annoyed.
If they make Stu a ghost like Billy, I am against it.

Thanks for showing us Frank the New Region Free Bluray & 4K Player!
No problem, Patrick!
For issues playing 4K discs turn off BD Live.
Thank you for the info!
Only the blu ray is region locked the 4k blu is not. Multi region if you want blu ray to play. And even then it depends on your tv excepting signal.
Get your other one multi region.
