    I really like these new Death Guard models, GW is getting back to a grotesque and weird feel to Chaos or traitor marines of years past instead of generic horns-on-head bad guy look.

    • @ThePrefect

      I also like that they slip bits of humor into the Nurgle stuff as well.

    Looking at the model at about 2 minutes in, it's so freakin' crazy and cool how detailed models are now. 15 years ago I'd have laughed if you told me they'd be this good. Thanks for the video by the way :)

    Bought First strike as a toe back into the hobby after many years out, then picked up Know No Fear a short time later. All the DG (and all but two of the smurfs) completed to tabletop standard. Couldn't agree more about the new range - head and shoulders above the 90s era stuff I am used to.

      +madbrianthepirate yeah, they're really on the right track.
      Loving their new direction

    Thanks for displaying these guys! It's going to take me forever to paint my Nurgle Marines! Haha! Sooo much detail on them. But I did want to say that I really love the fact that they display a lot of the MkIII armor similarities. They will work quite well with my ForgeWorld Nurgle Marine conversions.

    Great review. I put these guys together last night and the detail is stunning...I've been needing something to get me back into painting and these models could be just what I needed. The Plaguecaster (?...the guy with the cloud of filth coming from his hand), though, gave me fits because the torso/leg halves don't seem to go together in an intuitive way, unlike all the other models from both kits that are easy-peasy to assemble.

    • @ThePrefect

      Yeah, just love these guys. Painting tutorials are on the way for the whole starter box. Thanks for watching.

    Good idea with the cork bases! It differentiates major characters from other units.
    I also have a "Dark Vengeance" feel to them. As in, I feel like the Death Guard troopers all feel like Chosen or even Chaos Lords.

    I have played Nurgle Marines ever since 2nd Edition, I am really torn. Some models are incredible, some are far too busy. I kinda wished they toned down the Horns spouting everywhere and the Ball and chan overload on some.
    Still probably gonna get some of these just to mess around with.

    That moment when you're all like: I'm gonna make an Ultramarine army and be devoted to the emperor. You then buy Dark Imperium to start your army off and also get an enemy to play against,
    only to throw your Ultramarines away and now you're suddenly £40,000 in debt from buying the new Death Guard figures.

    Consider me a new subscriber, Sir! I watched a few of your videos already, and I'm stocked to start collecting and painting miniatures. Here's the thing tho: I'm still torn between Hordes/Warmachines and Warhammer 40K... really love that you have to build the 40K miniatures and the detail on them is fantastic but they look static in comparison with Hordes/Warmachines models which seem to be way more dynamic.

    Whats the size like comparing the Death Guard SM to the new Primaris Marines? It looks like the new Death Guard are just as big, which to me would be weird. Shouldn't they still be normal Marine sized?

    • @ThePrefect
      @ThePrefect  7 лет назад +1

      They're about half way there. Taller than a regular marine but smaller than the Primaris.

    awesome vid :) just wondering why you hex ur bases ?

    • @ThePrefect
      @ThePrefect  7 лет назад +1

      It gives the PVA something to hold on to when gluing basing material. It hasn't lifted off since I've started doing it... so I does it. :)

    Im looking at getting into the game, i know some lore, played 40k games also. Would this be a good starter kit for a noob player to the table top scene? I would not know how to start with painting!

    • @ThePrefect
      @ThePrefect  7 лет назад

      It's a great starter in terms of affordable models (you get two full armies in the box). It also comes with the full sized rule book and a mini rules fold out card. So in short, yes. It's a fantastic way to get started.
      As far as painting goes, we'll be finishing off the three part Primaris painting vid sometime this week and then we'll be moving on to the Death Guard half of the box.
      If you want a breakdown of what's in the box, we did a vid about that too.

    Can someone explain what are all those tentacles? I thought that death guard was supposed to be about bloated stomachs, diseased ridden bodies with unmaintained armor.

    • @Saminkio
      @Saminkio 7 лет назад +3

      xXMrIgniteXx they wanted to go with the older, rouge trader era more mutated chaos-y look, and not the more generic bad guy with the horns (I work at gw and this is what they told me)

  • @Vorpal_Wit
    @Vorpal_Wit 7 лет назад +1

    Do you have something glued into the bottoms of the bases?

      Billy Wardlaw Canadian Nickels. They keep the smaller models stable and add a bit of weight

    The forth Plaugemarine is heavily influenced by the GW Deathguard Project Manager Maxime's personal army The Plaugebones. The symbol on the shoulder pad is even the main symbol of the Plaguebones marines. You can see his personal blog with TONS of his Plaugebones project at leskouzes.blogspot.com/.
    I've been following his blog since before he started working at GW and his stuff is AMAZING.
    Fantastic review by the way. You've got a new sub!

    pity; i wanted to see the new and old models side by side for just a bit.

    • @ThePrefect
      @ThePrefect  7 лет назад

      That's fair, I may do a general army review when they're painted and toss them down for a comparison. The old Plague Marine sculpts weren't a fair comparison however, the sculpts themselves were super old and, as such, quite a bit smaller than the existing marines.

  • @KingFluffs
    @KingFluffs 7 лет назад +1

    They look good, but from what I saw in a sprue showcase sorta video about them, there's not many ways to customise them.

    • @ThePrefect
      @ThePrefect  7 лет назад +1

      KingFluffs this is true.
      The boxed sets aren't so much about the pose-ability of the models. They actually go all out on the big dynamic poses that you just couldn't do with the usual multi-part plastics.
      Fear not however, there are usually follow up sets that you can customize and mix in later.

    • @KingFluffs
      @KingFluffs 7 лет назад +1

      I sure hope so.
      I'm quite into Nurgle, so only want the Death Guard minis, and not so much the new Primaris.
      I wonder if they'll make a "Start Collecting" set of DG's or Poxwalkers.

    • @ThePrefect
      @ThePrefect  7 лет назад

      KingFluffs it seems to me that the new trend for GW is micro, interconnected armies. (Which I'm a monster fan of by the way)
      All of the basics of the armies will most likely be set up into start collecting boxes.
      The deal is pretty damned good for these guys though. Way better than any box so far.
      Maybe split a box with someone at your FLGS?

    • @KingFluffs
      @KingFluffs 7 лет назад +1

      ThePrefect I dunno what an FLGS is. lol
      I only recently got into painting the minitures and lore in general, so haven't tried tabletop yet.

      KingFluffs FLGS - Friendly Local Gaming Store
      I try and support them as much as I can. :)
      The hobby is pretty awesome. I can fit certain bits like modeling and painting into my schedule and then I do semi regular games.
      This is a great time to try the game.

    yes very good.. except its called a magazine, not a "clip".
    clips feed non removable magazines (mostly but not exclusively) in older rifles, like sks and garand rifles, for example

    Such a shame they are one posers and not customizable. The one thing that stops me from getting them. Also they are a bit too busy and spoiled with details, not for me.

      ThePrefect I hope so! How do thet compare to normal MKIII size wise? I got 20 unused MKIII marines and I could make them into Plagues if they aren't much bigger...
