No he was just trying to swat a fly that was landing in the middle of his forehead. Such a team player we should have known this back when him and ziggy were swapping jizz
John5 is clearly looking down while headbanging, and I don’t see how he’d be able to know/see what Manson’s doing. However, Manson has his head up while moving forward, and should have clearly seen John5. It looks on purpose.
John 5 fits so much better with Rob Zombie & they have a great relationship on & off stage. Manson didn’t know how to deal with what John 5 was going through & ended up losing one of the best guitarist that band ever had. His loss & definitely Zombies gain.
This is actually one of the better recordings of this time period i guess. I kind of hopped off after holywood but his 97 concert in Berlin is my control.
John 5 lost his sister that week. He said he was in shock the whole time and Brian knew something was wrong but didn't completely know. So what youre actually seeing is a man getting through a massive loss. Brian is also telling him to pick up his guitar to get back on his feat. Not to pick a fight. There was a recent story about this. It's pretty intense.
John actually said he's embarrassed by this now. The reason this happened is because he got news in the middle of a tour that an immediate family member died. Reportedly he said that he was on edge and Manson would kick him like that all the time and when he did it this time, he snapped. In the vid it looks like Manson was saying "bring it on" but according to John he was saying "pick up your guitar".
Oh yeah, what a totally ok thing to do, kicking your bandmates! We shouldn't even say "oh John was going through a lot, that's why he snapped!", dude he kicked him! He should have snapped regardless! Manson fanboys, get a grip please!
@stuckinlimbo8242 He waited until John 5s guitar was back on and he was playing so his hands were busy then flinched like he was going to swing. Manson is a punk for that.

Even John 5 said it was part of the show, and happened all the time. There was nothing malicious about it, and it clearly didn't hurt John 5 (it can barely even be called a kick, it's more like he collided with him). For everyone in this comment section that think manson was being a prick, he wasn't. John 5 lost his sister unexpectedly during the european tour and never slept for days, he wasn't tired at all and he told everyone in the band he just wasn't tired. And when it came to this show he knew Manson did that shit all the time and was fine with it but he snapped... which is understandable but he knows Manson isn't in the wrong, he was just lost and confused after his sisters passing which brought out that anger.
the fact that Manson does that shit all the time is not an excuse, he's just an asshole imo. especially if he does it after loss of John 5's sister. anyway you don't kick your band mates during a show. did he want to show his superiority?

Honestly Manson was probably way too fucked up to actually realize what he was doing. That was totally an impulse thing. Surprised John5 didn't leave tbh.
If I'm not mistaken, I think that John 5 had a bad news regardind the health of a member of his family (maybe even his fathers' death) and that situation, plus the stress of the tour, some griefs with Manson and now that! That was a bit too much for him and he had to burst his anger out.
I can't imagine what people who don't fully understand Marilyn Manson's messages think when they see Marilyn Manson dressed as Mickey Mouse in blackface.
The real message is pay me for my shockingness so I can buy my whiskey and drugs....Manson never had the true soul as some other similar artist he’s just sub par industrial metal that came along at the right time and had a hit

@skepchica And this "kick" that you're so butthurt about, that, my dear, that.... is the culmination of 10,000 or more years of all mankind's studies into the brilliant arts of ballet and motion combined into one fluid movement all released on 1 unsuspecting band mate. So yes sometimes perfection can be painful, but that in no way takes away its validity and or virtuosity. It in no way, takes away the sheer brilliance and emotional masterclass of the dancer himself.
@tonydegregorio4895 So to you running around kicking high is "dancing"? 🤣🤣 10,000 years of ballet? You're easily impressed, my guy. But why change your majestic "ballerina kicks" to a knee when you get to someone that height. Because it was intentional. Just like it was intentional Manson to swing or flench like he was swinging while Johnny was playing guitar but retreated quickly when he put it down. Total p😼ssy move by Manson.
You can tell Manson realized he really ticked off John with a stage move he did alot in that tour which is why he said pick up your guitar almost in a child like I’m sorry, I don’t think he was demanding it which is why he did the bow down movement after and left him alone. He himself said that Manson was a great friend during this period
It’s amazing how: I’m sorry, I love you and we’re in this together can change the mood so quickly Especially after your guitar players family passed away before this performance
People seem to see this and think badly of him for it. So as someone else posted “What happened was my sister passed away, my sister died unexpectedly. And I was shocked. Regardless of whatever led up to John getting so pissed, you could easily tell he was so ready to kick Manson’s ass. Even then, as a grown adult having first seen this video 10 years ago, you can easily tell Manson was under the influence of something which caused him to want to kick his own guitarist in the face.
This is not what it looks like,,John actually apologized for this and says his memory of this isn't too good,, Manson was telling him to just pick up the guitar and trying to be supportive of whatever this situation was,, you can find the story told by John himself here on RUclips

@@nytlc5016 Wanna talk about it?
John 5 lost his sister that week. He said he was in shock the whole time and Brian knew something was wrong but didn't completely know. So what youre actually seeing is a man getting through a massive loss. Brian is also telling him to pick up his guitar to get back on his feat. Not to pick a fight. There was a recent story about this. It's pretty intense.
Manson seems like an insufferable person to work with. I can see why him and Billy Corgan get along so well.
I've heard a small amount of good things
John 5 has worked too hard to be treated like a doormat.
@@stuckinlimbo8242 You zoomer fucks are such pussies. You obviously weren't alive in the 90's so I know you've never been to one, but have you ever even seen a 90's/00's Manson live performance? They fucked with each other all the time. This is mild compared to the shit they'd normally do on stage. It's one of the things that made metal shows so good before you were alive. Even John 5 said it was part of the show, and happened all the time. There was nothing malicious about it, and it clearly didn't hurt John 5 (it can barely even be called a kick, it's more like he collided with him). You sound cringe as fuck being mad when even John 5 admits he was the one in the wrong here for flipping his shit and throwing his guitar down in the middle of a show because of some silly, normal stage antics.
John 5 - "I feel terrible watching it now because it really was my fault. You can't really hear what he's saying, obviously, but he's saying, 'Pick up your guitar.' 'Cause it looks like he's going, 'Come on. Come on.' But he's saying, 'Pick up your guitar. Pick up your guitar,' because he knew what was going on. And I feel horrible about it," recalls the guitarist. "But it was just a bad situation at that time… It was terrible because he was so nice during that time and all that stuff. I was in such a weird place, and it was just a bad time. I don't even remember it happening. It was just terrible."
Damn, black Mickey Mouse was so lucky. At 0:25 John 5 just started to power up to his transformation form 6, but then he calmed down, because he is such a professional.

If Manson is doing this in front of a live audience, I wonder what was going on behind closed doors?

The straw that broke the camels back. Manson lost the baddest guitarist of our time rite there. Wish 5 would have smacked him with that ax.

"UGH, FOR THE SEVENTH TIME, QUIT WITH THE MICKEY MANSON!!!!"
If I'm not mistaken, I think that John 5 had a bad news regardind the health of a member of his family (maybe even his fathers' death) and that situation, plus the stress of the tour, some griefs with Manson and now that! That was a bit too much for him and he had to burst his anger out.
Understandable. But I'm tired of people who call Manson an asshole because of similar things. This guy is a human too, he has problems too...

I can't imagine what people who don't fully understand Marilyn Manson's messages think when they see Marilyn Manson dressed as Mickey Mouse in blackface.

So yes sometimes perfection can be painful, but that in no way takes away its validity and or virtuosity.
It in no way, takes away the sheer brilliance and emotional masterclass of the dancer himself.
@@yourbeardispatchyaf I'm not "butthurt" about anything. I offered you a chance to be part of a funny story with me.
It’s amazing how: I’m sorry, I love you and we’re in this together can change the mood so quickly
Especially after your guitar players family passed away before this performance
People seem to see this and think badly of him for it. So as someone else posted

And I remember going to the bandmembers’ rooms, going, ‘I can’t sleep. I just can’t sleep. I haven’t slept in now two days’ or blah blah blah.
“So anyways, fast forward to the [Rock Am Ring] show. Now, what Manson did, that happened all the time. He didn’t do anything wrong. I just snapped. It was weird. I went nuts. I didn’t even remember.
Ya, nothings more intimidating then a 100lb Mickey Mouse reject.
This is not what it looks like,,John actually apologized for this and says his memory of this isn't too good,, Manson was telling him to just pick up the guitar and trying to be supportive of whatever this situation was,, you can find the story told by John himself here on RUclips
