- Very different to much of the metal music I've listened to. Check out my thoughts about the song at the end.
What other Ramstein songs would you recommend?

A lot of people have only heard 1 song from Rammstein, especially here in the USA, and this is the song. The live in Paris video for this is practically must watch. If you like pyro at concerts, this is the band for you. Du Hast means You have, but they are playing on words too. Du Hasst, with 2 's', is You hate. the whole song is a play on wedding vows. Genius has both the German and English lyrics.
Also "Engel" live in Madison Square Garden , New York City.
I'll definitely check the live version in this. But the lyrics are cool. The other commentary mentioned this as well.
As I recall, the English version they released used "hate" instead of "have"
Rammstein (lit. "ramming stone") = RUM-SHTINE (approx. pronunciation in English)
"Du hast" ("You have", homonym with "Du hasst" which is "You hate") = DOO HAST (approx. pronunciation in English)
Sehnsucht (longing, yearning, craving) = ZANE-ZUCHT (approx. pronunciation in English)
haha, thanks, dude. I appreciate that! 🙏
Saw Rammstein twenty plus years ago and then again two years ago. To date they are still my #1 all-time favorite live performance. And all of their music videos are of very high quality. Recommendations for other songs would be Engel, Mein Herz Brennet, and Giftig.
Have you seen them recently? Would you say they are as good now as were back then?
@@RustySabitaThe show I saw two years ago was even better than the first time.
Some must watches are:
Sonne
Ich will
Mein Teil
Amerika
Keine Lust
Deutschland
That's for the recommendations, my dude. Thanks for watching as well! I'll add it to the list, and we'll see how well this one does. 🤘🙏🙌
Absoletely phenomenal live, saw them in Munich in the early 2010's and few performances have been as wild!
Creepy? ...their other videos are much tamer.😂
More Rammstein!
-Ich will
-Sonne
-Feuer frei
-Ohne dich....
It's just imagining waking up and 5 guys in masks standing over you, starting at you. It's definitely not pancakes in bed. 😂

Sure it's creepy...but compared to other Rammstein videos, this is a children's lullaby.😆
@@Holilo7 That's going to be fun to see then 😂
Bro, how have you missed this for so long? This is one of the first CDs i picked up as a kid. I'm not sure of the order but it was either this one, Coolio featuring Gangster's Paradise, or the single of Whomp There It Is. I had also oicked up the cassette for George Strait's Blue Clear Sky around this time too. Boom boxes were marvelous electronics
Haha, Cassette? Showing your ages there 😉 One of the first cassettes I bought was one of the Now number Now 34 I think. It had 'C U when U get there' by Coolio. Anyway, I was never into metal/rock music at that time, so I never heard it, and when I was older, industrial metal music was never it for me.
Damn mate! You almost nailed the album name! Well done! Boy you have no idea how deep this rabbit hole is. It's DEEP and DARK! The boys have been together for 30 years unchanged. Their music, videos and live shows are unmatched. You reckon Du Hast was creepy lol. Would love to see your reaction to Mein Teil! ruclips.net/video/PBvwcH4XX6U/видео.html
Thanks for watching and commenting and the recommendations. We'll see how the video goes and what everyone asks for in total. We'll go from there then. 🤘🙏🙌
👍❤
Hi from germany 🙂
check out the live version of this song. you'll be amazed.
Rammstein: Du Hast - live in Paris ( Official Video )
Welcome in from Germany, my friend. I'll check it out. Thank you for watching. 🙌🤘🙏
Yo,,,more Rammstein please! Deutschland (brush up on DE history) or Ich Will 🔥🔥 Do u know Gojira? Check out Stranded for a tasty snack from them
GOAT live band - videos not bad either tho
I'll have to check out a live performance, one time then.
Oh... you´ve got the wrong version of it, you should have the "live in paris" version, much, much, mucho better 😩
Maybe I can watch it in a future video maybe, if it's thats good?
@@RustySabita really good, the best and I never heard a negative
Live version is 10 times better.
Du Hast is a pun...hast: have.....hasst: hate. So du hast mich is both you have me or you hate me
When you're saying either word vocally. Do you sound out the 'S' in 'Hasst' for longer? Or pronounced the exact same way?
@@RustySabita No it is pronounced exactly the same way
Du -You
Du hast - You have (or "You hate")
Du hasst mich - You hate me (or "You have me"
Du hast mich gefragt - You asked me
und ich hab nichts gesagt - and I said nothing
The pun is that people don't know whether "du has(s)t" means "you have" or "you hate". Without any context, people would of course automatically assume that you mean "you have" since "you have" is a much more frequent utterance than "you hate", but when the singer adds "mich", you assume that he means "you hate me", because "you hate me" makes much more sence than "you have me". Only after he adds "gefragt" (asked), you know that "has(s)t" does indeed mean "have" and not "hate", but then you realize that she hates you because you have asked her (whether you want to marry her), but you said nothing (that you do not want to marry her).
@@wingedhussar1117 I got you. I understand. Clever word-play essentially. Thank you for the explanation. 🙏
