People can trash as much as they like, especially since the drive train is so old. But it’s a honest vehicle and will do more than the majority will ever ask it to do.
It is getting on in years now but I wouldn't really call it old, some rivals are still coming out now with old style gearboxes still without the ability to drive all day in 4H on any surface.
Mitsi are very understated. Everyone conveniently forgets that they were kings of the Paris - Dakar. I'm always surprised by everyone's surprise when they see how well the Mitsis go.
I'm here for all your Mitsubishi reviews A highly underrated vehicle with serious off-road capabilities. Mitsubishi has done a commendable job of updating and further refining this tough as nails warrior. I nearly purchased one myself however it was just too big for me at the time. Can't wait for the all new generation model to be released in coming months. A great review, and thoroughly honest and realistic.
I had a 2016 Pajero Sport , upgraded to a 2020 model and will upgrade again when the next gen model comes out. Such a comfortable car to drive. Only fault I see is that it's rather narrow and its a tight fit for 3 adults in the second row. If that is addressed in the next model , then for me anyway , it will be perfect.
We're gonna miss these simple vehicles that did basic can stuff, unlike the newer ones which are basically flashy toys. Even smartphones are reverting to simple designs lol
crazy to think the Egyptians built the Pajero Sport alongside the pyramids - and it's still going strong! Great review - I like the honest approach that goes beyond the press release. Honest battler of a family wagon with serious off-road abilities and still great value at that
I don’t own my MY21 any more, but it was pretty much the best all round vehicle I’ve owned. Had a proper dyno tune and happily pulled away from SUV’s double its price. Towed 1.6 ton as quick as a stock one not towing. Ultimate Diesel Tuning know what they’re doing with these 4N15 engines. Fantastic off-road too. Loved that thing.
I actually prefer that it is simple. I have a Mitsubishi outlander 2020 sport got it brand new and sitting 70k now. Have had no issues and works fine no matter what you throw at it and have spent only about $1200 to date in service and replacing a tyre. Simple and cheap is better than lots of fancy tech (which when fails will come with a huge bill). I was tempted by the new tech too but just not worth the price.
Major shortcoming: the Pajero Sport only has a 68L fuel tank so range is limited. Major positive: Super Select 2, the ability to lock in essentially On-demand AWD full time (like Everest 4WD versions) is a huge plus. I like the new digital drivers display, much nicer than standard Everest. However that engine, TURBO LAG and a slow shifting transmissions even if it is 8-speed brigs its down, also the soft suspension and body roll, yeah no thanks, but steering is fine as its hydraulic based. Overall the Pajero Sport is a value buy right now, much better than Fortuner but nowhere near Everest and is fighting a battle against the China brigade which means two things, having to compete on price and equipment levels, at the moment the Pajero sport can do that easily but when the new model is released Mitshibishi will have the same issues it has now with new Triton.
We're gonna miss these simple vehicles that did basic car stuff, unlike the newer ones which are basically flashy toys. Even smartphones are reverting to simple designs lol
I bought a 2022 Exceed a week ago. It's a really nice vehicle, and doesn't have that stupid driver monitoring crap, nor does it try to steer itself when it doesn't like the way I'm driving it. The next generation will almost certainly have those on it.
@@davidwild66 stupid features, they create solutions for problems which never existed, all these driver assistance features after adding tons of driver distractions in form of touch screens 😂
This is still an awsum allrounder. Not the fastest, not the flashiest, but dependable comfortable versatile which face it is what we really need. Maybe not want, but need. It will still be going while Toyotas are eating another DPF or injector, or while the Ranger is hydrolocking on its EGR, or worse still snapping it’s crank (anyone who knows the lion v6 I’ll know the exactly what). Every now and then a car is just right, and I think Mitsi fluked it with this
I think its time Mitsubishi developed a good modern 6 cylinder engine in both gas and diesel form. So they can have an answer to the everest v6 or lexus v6 turbo. But who knows maybe Mitsubishi is going another direction , and developing stronger electric motors instead of focusing on petrol and diesel. The byd shark shows a truck combined with a 1.5 turbo engine and electric motors can deliver a huge amount of power. However byd won't have Mitsubishi reliability
I would never buy a Chinese BYd. . I got a 24 model mitsubishi outlander PHEV and it can do 0 to 100km in about 7 seconds. It's awsome..... electric motors are the way to go...... Better than a v6 or v8 in my opinion.
@Liams_Fraser_Island_adventures the yet to be released 25 outlander refresh is even better ,it is coming with improvements. bigger battery, longer ev range, cooling seats, improvements to ride quality. Bigger infotainment. It would be interesting to see when it's released. Byd vehicles like the sealion 6 will get alot of sales, but at the end of the day , chinese vehicles can't compete in reliability and they have poor resale value. People don't even realize they only give 3 year warranty on shock absorbers and infotainment screen. That means they don't have any confidence in the car for more than 3 years They gonna release a new model by then and everyone who buys it will suffer for parts and service
I like the look of the new pajero sport..... It looks similar to my 24 model mitsubishi outlander PHEV..... except my outlander can do 0 to 100k. In about 7 seconds.... with the twin electric motors........ they reckon the new model next year will have 600nm of torque and over 300 horsepower or something.
Would you pick this or the Fortuner for mainly urban use but a couple of trip per year to NSW and Vic alpine and high country stuff largely on maintained tracks. Would probably hold onto it for at least 5 years and occasionally sleep in the back?
Haven't driven a fortuner personally, but have owned a PS for a few months now - it's absolutely fantastic in urban environments. Does not feel truckish or cumbersome to drive and very easy to park. It's narrower than other Ute-based SUVs (easier to park) but also as tall, if not taller, to give great field of vision for navigating tight roads and heavy traffic. I came from an Isuzu Dmax and the PS is a much more comfortable drive. I have heard not great things about the. Fortuner, such as it being a rough ride and not the best in terms of comfort for long trips.
Would definitely have one of those over most of the newer stuff, and it'll still be going long after the Chinese rubbish has been turned back into cans.
Saw one of these roll twice at the end of my street to say the roof failed would be an understatement considering it was at 60km/h, luckily the occupants were ok for the most part, I wouldn't put myself in one either way.
Looks like a decent vehicle. Shame it sounds and goes like a tractor. A nice smooth petrol turbo engine with some get up and go would be nice as an option.
1. tansmission lag? it is turbo lag, coz even lag from 1st gear. 2. will not get seasick? afaik, it is most seasick suspension, there swinging left all the time along the way more like a boat; feels like never ready to take next maneuver type of suspension, really slow to settled, offroad typical suspension. 3. visibility? worst ever. even ORVM position is super blocking front quarter view.

An off road weapon indeed.
Picking one up next week

Waited for this like a child on Christmas
3:32 those control buttons for side mirrors adjustment are the same from my 06 Mitsubishi 380 😂
Bought a 2024 paj sport. So happy with the car. No issues and truly this is one of the underrated cars out there.

Prefer the front end on this to the new Triton. This is the nicest Pajero Sport they've done, especially inside
I have the same vehicle with a throttle controller and the difference is incredible!

It still uses the same engine, in Southeast Asia Pajero already uses a new 4n16 engine with a 6AT transmission with the same power
whats with the digital cluster trend nowadays the analogue ones are better with mid-section digital one
Yeah, I quite like mine. It's not a beauty, but it does the job.
Does it have 360 camera ?
Yes it does

Just fact checked your claim of the Pajero being out for a thousand years and it it turns out you are correct 😂

Go with Mitsubishi (have one) . Yes both brands are great but toyota is just overpriced these days. Spend the extra money on accessories.

The mitsubishi front end or the dynamic shield as they like to call it looks better then most cars but why do they make the rears so ugly
