    I made your Aquafaba butter today for my popcorn. It was amazing! When I put it in the fridge it got even thicker like a soft margarine. I didn’t have white vinegar so I used rice vinegar and it still turned out great. I even used aquafaba from salt free chickpeas and it had wonderful flavor. You are a genius my friend ❤

    She is using nutritional yeast which is very different than baking yeast because it is not live like the other baking yeast, it's deactivated. It's has a delicious buttery cheesy type flavor and made specifically for food consumption.

    I used an air popper for years. Recently I bout a silicone microwave popper and wow. The Microwave popped is so much better! Oil free. I might give this a try but for now just the popcorn alone is a great snack.

      The tribest has a grinder lid. It's pretty versatile if you can get one. I recommend you get the attachment that allows you to use mason jars because it basically means you can have limitless cheap, ubiquitous blender containers for essentially any use, and you can just blend stuff directly into the container that you store it or use it in.

    We have the Orville Redenbacher popcorn lidded microwave bowl and use that to make our microwave fat-free popcorn. I got some small cosmetic spray bottles and use one for the popcorn flavoring. To maintain fat-free eating, I use my atomizer bottle for Bragg’s Liquid Aminos to flavor the popcorn. I just spray on the top of the popcorn and then spray again when I’ve eaten below the top layer.
    Works for me. My husband won’t try what I am eating at least for popcorn. He has to have real butter. This is why I’ve lost 75 lbs. and he has lost 50.
    Women have to be more careful on a Whole Foods Plant-Based diet whereas men can splurge more. Even so I am near ideal weight and is he? NO!
    Work the diet and it will make you thin!

    I’ve been on a popcorn kick lately, but when I used very little oil, the popcorn started to burn before it was popped. So the next time I made it, I put more oil in, shook the pan to coat all the koernels and they all popped wonderfully. So I concluded then that oil seems to be needed and I also lowered the heat. (Mind you, I’d 100% prefer no oil!!) But watching you, I’m noticing that you too used lower heat and the pan you used looked like a non stick pan. So heat & the right pan, and I’m gonna also say, fresh popcorn koernels may be the secret to successfully popped popcorn. Thanks for all the seasoning suggestions. I’m gonna give your method a try…after I find better popcorn. My package seems to be a dud!

    An interesting idea to use aquafaba for the savoury version, the problem I see with that though is that it would make the popcorn too soggy and shrink - I could see it happening in your video too. Perhaps the aquafaba needs to be cooked out a little more so it's not as runny, maybe mix in a bit of nut butter and then coat the popcorn by hand, then finish it off baking in the oven like you did with your sweet version. I will have to experiment for sure! 🙂 Thank you for the idea! 👍

    I think just a sprinkle of salt, and perhaps if I'm in the mood for sweet and salty, a splash of maple syrup and salt. So much easier, fast and delicious.

    Love the idea of using the aquafaba. I tried putting my nutritional yeast on my air pop and it fell to the bottom, so I would put popcorn in my mouth with a little of the nooch. Not a good idea. Cant wait to try. this. Havent seen you in a while, ill have to look through to see what i missed. Thank you.

    Drying soggy popcorn is a fairly long process just to get flavored popcorn. unfortunately adding liquid always causes popped corn to slightly break down too.
    What I do is I just use a very light coating of butter-flavored baking spray. it's still very low on fat but the coating will stick on the popcorn without further hassle. 👍

    • @cookingwithplants
      @cookingwithplants  9 месяцев назад
