    • @Rocker3829
      @Rocker3829 3 года назад +2

      @@Chargen69 They were a mid-pack organization for most of Earnhardt's career which is why Dale's greatness can't be overstated. Everything from the size of the team to the actual equipment they had is shocking (even during the 6 titles with RCR). For example, Chocolate Myers talks about that specifically on Dale Jr's podcast. Andy Petree talks about how bad the equipment was when he saw what they had (late 91 and 92). I could go on and on about how the equipment was not even close to top tier stuff, but when you have the greatest behind the wheel, he made that average team better (after all, in the years with RCR, the years they didn't win the championship outside of 1995, they were not elite. 1981, 1984, 1985, 1988, 1989, 1992, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, first half of 2000). That's 11 of 18 years being mid-pack (long before the cars senior setup were gone).
      "Remember he was up front dumping the leader to win races, not in 20th" - Ah yes the 1999 season. 3 wins (including the one you mentioned). Must have been running in the top 5 a lot, but he wasn't. 7 Top 5 Finishes in 34 races says otherwise. 770 points behind Champ Dale Jarrett says otherwise as well. 1998? 1 Win, 7 Top 5s. 1997? 0 Wins, 7 Top 5s. That's not "up front".
      Another example of how good Dale was. In 2000, he had 13 top 5s (only 2 wins, less than 1999). Where did he finish in points? 2nd. That's why all of us fans were really looking forward to the 2001 season because the equipment was FINALLY ready to support the team's bid in winning his 8th championship. His average finish over the last 13 races of the 2000 season was 8th. The performance consistency was back for the first time since early 1996.
      All you have to do to realize Dale's greatness is to look at the other two who have won 7 championships. How many wins did the King have without Dale Inman? 12. Championships? 0. Same with Jimmie, how many wins does he have without Chad Knaus? 0. Championships? 0. Dale won championships with 2 different teams and 3 different crew chiefs and didn't drive for Petty Enterprises or Hendrick Motorsports.
