This mangonel ceased fire after he distroyed the target he was firing at when he was within range. So I would be amazed if your look-alike bug worked differently as this one. (Since u mention farmerS)

Its quite possible that projectiles are "3d" objects in a "2d" world. It is also the explanation that makes the most sense based on the projectiles disappearing and reappearing at the same point every time.

I've noticed this happen 4-5 times now when attacking buildings with multiple melee units, never anything ranged though. It's clearly some sort of collision/stacking problem. I suspect the game logic basically lets units attack targets within their range and that the units keep attacking because they don't update their internal position without moving "under their own power" if you will. This wouldn't really be that much of an issue except that it looks like something can cause the collision resolution to moon-walk off to infinity; probably the same bug that made your knight run through the forest. If it were purely a collision problem you might expect it to happen alll the time while moving groups of units around; however, everytime I've seen it happen the unit was mid attack animation while a bunch of repositioning is going on nearby. For ranged units, I suspect they would continue to target anything within range of the initial position as long as you don't update their internal position by doing something like triggering their path-finding. This would definitely happen if you tried to move them.

This reminds me of one of the Forest Nothing games with 256x Mod that you did. Someone made super strong Bombard Towers that ranged the entire map, but all the military was so fast that cannonballs were flying everywhere and hitting empty space :P
I think after the Inter-Continental Ballistic Mangonel killed the TC, it started shooting at the mining camp, there's debris on top of the camp reminiscent of a recent Mango hit.
I had a similar bug, albeit in a different context, while running Pit of Saron in WoW. The final boss' dragon could range us anywhere in the instance when we reentered after one wipe.

The game's code probably does this to make space occasionally when it has to, and they didn't expect three, they probably thought it could only be up to two... so the third one just gets movement glitched and keeps moving indefinitely in the direction it originally was sent towards to "escape" locked position, but the game still thinks its location is at the original point

No siege always stack on each other from the original age of kings until now. So it is for sure not the stacking that is causing the mangonel to gain infinite range and be pushed to the corner of the map while attacking and walking through walls. Normally mangonel does not attack while moving, so it has to be another glitch happening only with the Definitive edition.
Didn't you have a video recently with a scout or a wolf or something floating in the air? I remember you making a point about how the shadow was even rendered properly for a unit floating above the ground

I had this bug happen to me a couple of weeks ago! My infantry did it and started sliding through cliffs etc. It happens when you garrison units sometimes Idk why.
Ive played yesterday fully walled and a guy defended with skirms countering my CA so i went back to my base. After 30sec he X my tc and i saw 10 skirms standing ON THE FUCKING TOP OF THE TREES killing all my vills.
