A man after my own heart. There is some great kit available from the 'names', but the prices here in the UK are scary. I much prefer to find alternatives like this if I can. Thanks Matt, great idea.
I'm always looking for accessories from non-traditional sources. I have a great, large fanny pack I keep on my Ducati wrapped on my pillion seat and a large, completely waterproof bag I use on occasion. Both wete found at Marshall's and picked up for a small fraction of what similar gear would sell for on motorcycle sites. I've been looking for bags for the crash bars on my 390 ADV. FWIW on my Ducati I keep my tools on the right side. Someone suggested if you have a mechanical issue on the road, having your tools on the right puts you away from the traffic lane a bit more. Thought that made sense.
Great ideas. I really like the tool bag location. I think I will switch mine. I am always looking for cheaper luggage solutions. The fanny pack is a great idea. I was using a small backpack strapped to the back.
@@advmatt I lucked out and found one that was a bit larger than a usual fanny pack (yeah I know our UK friends laugh at that term, and why). It was also slightly triangular so it looks iike it was designed for the bike and the belt buckles under the seat. Best $10 spent ever and I wish I had bought two.
Newbie here. Bought the 390ADV a few months back as my first motorcycle. Loving your videos so far, already ordered the GIVI windscreen and the bar risers. Any chance you could do a video of the contents of your tool bag and puncture kit seen in this video? Thanks
I find I'm riding the KTM more than my Harleys and Himalayan now. After I changed the oil this week, I found that the teeny-weeney tool bag under the seat was woefully inadequate!* I searched for this vid and found it. Thanks for the vid, S * Well yeah, I knew it was small, but COME ON! ;)
@@advmatt It looks like from your video and the pictures on the amazon link, that you have the "upgraded". The upgraded ones have the hook and loop on the front webbing and the smooth straps vs. the standard has different. You should click the link and check it out.
Hi Matt, Are those the original ktm crash bars from the dealer? Have you dropped the bike? Do they work well protecting the sides? I have seen alternative crash bars from Givi un Sw Motech. Not sure which to buy.. What are your thoughts?
Yes, these are the KTM factory crash bars. I havent dropped the bike, but I think these bars are fine. I am trying not to spend too much money modifying this bike so my plan is to keep these bars. If your bike doesnt have any, I think anything is better nothing.
Great idea! I have been trying to sort out crash bags for my 690. This will work perfect!
Great, simple and effective solution. Just what I was looking for, thanks!
Great video. I bought the same bags and love them. Tools on one side and patch kit on the other side. Much better than under seat.
Right on Matt!! That is really slick and cheap. Good job my man!!

A fantastic and timely idea, thanks.
Brilliant! I will be following this setup for my 390ADV. Thanks for this great idea Matt! :-)
Great bags for the size of the 390 bars. I will order two for sure.
Love these kinds of tips. Thanks!
Cool! that's a pretty good affordable option.
Great idea! Thanks for sharing.
These are awesome btw! I run two in the back as well :)

Hey, great to hear from you. I am working on the puncture kit video right now. It will be posted Thursday.

Same here, choose to ride the 390 before my 1200GS. Much easier to ride and more fun. Glad you found this helpful.
Hey Matt great video. Do you have any plans to share what exactly you carry in your toolkit for the 390? I would be very curious
Yeah, I have been asked for that several times. I will get the video done and posted in the next few weeks to show what I carry.
I didnt see the link for the bags. Can you direct me to that?
Links are in the video description. I just checked and the links still work.
@@advmatt found it. Somewhat new to navigating RUclips. Finally found the description haha. Thanks man
Great video, ktm 390 adv have tube or tubeless tires?
Tubeless cast alloy wheels , but you can purchase aftermarket spoked wheels. The spoked wheels are tubed.
@@advmatt thank you very much Matt, you are always fast in your replies, I like yout channel its very usefull, great info about this bike :) cheers
Is there an off-the-shelf first aid kit you bought that fits in the molle bags?
Not yet, but it's a great idea!
Hey Matt, what's the total length of the Velcro ties Please ?? I ordered the Bags but would like to know about the Ties!!
The velcro straps on the 390 are 16 inches long and on the 1200 are 24 inches long.
@@advmatt Thanks Matt !!
Are you using the standard bag or the upgraded version?
Standard, the most basic and cheapest.

@@advmatt Watch the video part. it shows them side by side.
I'll check it out.
