I am on my 3.0 system, on every long ride I make, I drop a bag somewhere, hopefully this is the final setup and I dont need a 4.0, 😂 awesome videos.,keep it up.
Wow! What a great video! Very informative. I've been looking into bag reviews, and this is the first budget option video I've seen. I think this is the way I'm going to go for the WABDR.
Matt, I just ordered a Rhinowalk 25 liter clip-on bag set for my 390 Tusk rack, then your video popped up. Made me think, especially about their durability. .But, nice features, good looking, also inexpensive if they don't last, though I won't be tackling the kind of trails you do. Frank's point about how they catch the bike on its side is another plus. Thanks for all your videos--I learn so much from you and Frank and Ian.
another great video. for me its not even price as much as not knowing what I will want long term... soft saddle bags like your Rhino walks, soft roll tops, rack or no rack, hard cases for day to day use... I know from my bicycle touring I ended up with $1000+ of gear that ended up just not working for me even though it was great stuff. Funny you mentioned re branded bags... amazing people still seem to think "brands" are the manufacturer, almost all brands buy the same way we do but they buy in bulk and have their logo added. *often they buy so much that they can have that product removed from retail sales and only be available with there logo. Is a little tricky, often it's the same thing with a different brand but sometimes it's a knock off of a well known brand.... thats why these reviews are so helpful
Glad to see the harness is working well on your Tuareg. I've actually been waiting for our current set up to fail to install and try the same drybag harness. We're currently running Wild Heart soft bags that are very similar to the Rinowalk that you had, I think they have one additional strap. We also run multiple heat guards (the same one as you because value). I think the expensive soft bags are nice, but not practical in price for many of us that work for a living. From our experience, those 'cheap' bags will hold up well for a lot of miles of pretty rough riding and even some 'gentle' drops. However they won't hold up to any serious crashes, ...or rubbing on the tire. 😂
@@WyomingFamilyAdventures these bags might not hold up to bad crashes, but we can buy four sets of the less expensive ones for one set of the expensive ones. Bargain in my mind.
@advmatt Agreed. There could be some instances where I would rather have a more durable bag if I was doing a long distance trip for example, But for Week-long or weekend trips we can just manage to gather up and tie off what's left of the bag somewhere else on the bike and get a new bag. I often order my bags directly from China because I am super cheap/aka 'value driven'. The working man's plight is to always get products that punch above their pay grade.
Amazing video. I have been looking for a rackless system and saw your original D.I.Y with the Rhinowlak bags, I will pass up on that but this 2.0 set up looks great. Thanks for sharing and for the tips. You can do 5 D.Y.I systems for the price of one system from the premium brands, so why wouldn't you.
Thanks for the feedback. I agree, why not use this less expensive setup and replace pieces as needed, if needed. Save some money to pay for gas and food for travel. Hope it works for you as well as it did for me. Cheers.
Very cool modular system Matt. I like that you can mount those large bags with a small harness. I went to order one when you first showed it, however, it was sold out. I will look again. That may allow me to put my Hurricane bags in my 790 which I do not want to put racks on. - Frank
@@advmatt At 465#, I do not want to add the weight if racks to the 790! Unpacking my Hurricane gear, then packing it into my Rhinowalk, then back to the Hurricane is time consuming. Or I am lazy. Or both. - Frank
The Tusk racks are WIDE on my bike! There is one positive if that though, when my bike is in it's side, the bike is 12" off the ground, even with the bags off, with my bags on, it's not down very far at all. 😁 - Frank
I'll add my opinion, just because I recently shopped for luggage. I really tried to save money and wound up with moskomoto bags anyways. The quality standard of these bags is higher than my bike LOL. Am I worried about a crash??? Pfffftttt My great grandchildren will be able use these things, on their metal horses, to fight the robots. Future archeologists will find my bags 2000 years from now in a tar pit somewhere.
Absolutely right, they will last for ever, but do they need to? Military grade equipment for our motorcycles at a designer price. I simply couldn't bring myself to it. Those bags should serve you well.
In case you didn't see the video I did on this exhaust here is the link. You will get the sound check. It is not as loud as I was expecting, but still sounds better than stock. ruclips.net/video/wY9-e1jZ-xk/видео.htmlsi=h92eBjBqiUDiZ-7H
I don't have it anymore. The zipper broke on it and the waterproof liner started leaking. I had to pitch it. I did get many years and thousands of miles out of it.
Thank you for your affirmation of WILD HEART motorcycle bag
