@Scott Murly-Cleves do you gradually add the salt and ice during the 25 minutes mixing time or in one go then mix? I just purchased this same machine for my grandchildren I would hate to disappoint them by mixing it wrongly.

At first I thought, "Mm, Slushies, what bliss in this hot summer's torture. Perhaps I'll buy this?" and then watched you try and make one and realised just how glad I am to have a shop that sells them not but five minutes away.
Sounds a lot like an icecream maker we bought...when it says to freeze the middle part, it usually means like overnight (8 hours or so) so it's frozen solid, keeping the ice from melting too far and getting the wrong consistency. Probably better to just get some crushed ice, a good blender, and just buy the syrup (since you can buy like 4 different flavours in those bottles alone) and make a slushie that way.
2 years later... I tought the same when i watched this video. From this video i can say he is so underrated. He earns so much more subscribers then the amount he has now..
You can do the same thing with two plastic bags. You separate the flavoring from the ice and salt then shake it until it becomes into a slushie. If you're poor try it.
Ok, slush puppie machine arrived for Xmas and first time it worked perfectly. Appreciate it didn't work for you but this vid is quite unfairly damning for a piece of equipment that is really easy to use.
It's a weird one, looks like it's a 50/50 split of people getting to work with no trouble and others having a super hard time with it (this is especially highlighted when you check out the Amazon reviews). Have noticed that a lot of the comments saying they had no problem with the machine are left in the colder months, maybe that has something to do with it as we were using it in the summer. Might be one to revisit at some point!
I have this machine it works fine. First we use rock salt not table salt. And we never add water in the ice canister, just continue to top up with ice as it starts to melt. It’ll be done in 20 mins. Works best with high sugar content but we have used it with normal cordial too. Oh and blue wkd works 🤣 obvs one for the grown ups
The salt doesn't come in contact with the slush, it's purely to keep the ice colder for longer to make the slush.. also I have this machine, and I do agree it's alot of work for what you get, mine did turn to slush, it could be because your slush mixture was to warm, due to left in a warm place, or maybe it's just a warm part of the country.. the manual states for best results to place ice canister in the freezer for about an hour and maybe the slush mixture in the fridge for abit if needed..... for me personally this made the machine seize up due to ice would form faster and thicker due it being colder.. and the blades not being strong enough but when stopped putting the canister in the freezer and mixture in the fridge... with alot of effort I had slush that filled.. 1 big cup.. or 2 small cups, it works, but takes alot of effort, you have to keep checking the ice levels, add as needed, same with the salt. it works, and is great for a single person or even 2.. and for the first time it's interesting .. you need to make alot of mistakes before you finally get the slush right and if you're not careful the lid would fly off and break the lock to the lid.. when I first got it,.. I never knew how to open the lid, due to manual not stating so I broke it, but fizz creations sent me a new one, free of charge, no questions asked.... In short.. it works... .. but it's alot easier and better just to get one from a shop. and if the slush mixture is to warm.. i'd suggest putting in the fridge, but for a very short time just enough for it to cool down abit... also mix your syrup and water in a measuring jug to make it easier.. and if salt is some how getting into the mixture... you could be getting some in the wrong hole when pouring, that can happen if you're not careful, or there's a hole in your canister,. causing it to leak out.
We made sure to follow every note in the manual, and by the third try we were taking extra care to not mess anything up, including putting the metal canister in the freezer before hand, making sure we were precise with our syrup to water ratio, and keeping the mixture in a cool place, but no luck. Somehow salt kept getting out of the container and into the slushie mixture no matter how careful we were (maybe there's a fault somewhere?). But yeah, it's not easy to get a hang of/working at all, which is a shame when the product costs nearly £50
Fizz creations, the manufacturer.. helped me out alot sending me a replacement lid, get in touch with them they seem to be good on support.. if salt is getting into the mixture.. does sound like there's a leak in your canister or something. and if you contact them, they will most likely you send you a new canister part.
