@@pikachupowers I had one of these 95 Maximas as my first car. Handed down from my dad. I regret trading it in though the 05 Altima I got in its place was so nice I ended up owning two of them. But that 170,000 mile Maxima had tons of life left in its VQ30DE. The bodies started to rust really bad after 2010 here in NJ, and you don’t see them much anymore. I wonder if mine would have made it. It’s really hard to find them even on Cargurus now (at the moment there aren’t even any 95s nationwide!). I’m on my second G35- first was totaled twice- by a deer strike and then Ida’s floods a few months later while awaiting cosmetic repairs to become a winter beater. That 03 G sedan was starting to rust, albeit not as badly as old Maximas, provably because by idiot dad took it to ski trips in New England when he owned it. 😂🤬 My current 2004 G35 is a 140k mile North Carolina car with zero rust and I intend to keep it that way.🙏 The clearcoat is starting to fail on the horizontal panels- repaints are in the cards. This will soon be my first 20 year old car. Mechanically it’s perfect. Back to engines- the VQ35DE in my G’s is a smoothie, but not as much so as the 3.0 in those Maximas. The VR30 in the soon-to-be discontinued Infiniti Q50/60 does have that inline smoothness- I’ve rented both a Q60 and a BMW 840i with the amazing B58. Both engines are very similar right down to sound, power delivery and NVH. The BMW’s chassis and steering were far better- sadly Nissan seems to have given up in those areas no doubt thanks to Ghosn sucking them dry of R&D funds.
@@SpeedMaxima No surprise considering that you own one... A34 Maxima is nice, yours looks to be in good shape. but quality after A33 Maxima went down due to Renault merging... I don't think you've driven a VQ30 before. it is extremely smooth and reliable.
@@pikachupowers yeah it may be smooth and reliable but it’s just a smaller VQ the VQ35 is Nissan’s legendary motor all I care about is acceleration and top end
An amazing vehicle, 260km, six cylinders, we call it the car of death or the people of the coffin. Small body, small tires. Looking at the w140 s500 or the Caprice SS, there is no comparison whatsoever. I have one now for renewal in my channel. Welcome to look at its condition before and after
I have a '97 Maxima GXE 44,000 miles I bought off an estate. Old man farmer & his wife both died and car sat for year. I spent $$$ to sort out ecverything and get it right. It's fantastik but not a 5 speed. I really wanted one but want couldn't find in good condition. Either way, this 4th gen is easily the best and highest quality Maxima ever..
@@elaineewalt8137 You wrote 144K? It's 44K. What I paid is irrelevant. Low mileage isn't necessarily better than 144K. If it was carefully maintained and driven real highway miles, it might have less wear than a 44k mile car. It needed valve cover gaskets, head gaskets, several other items. All belts and hoses, anything with rubber and gaskets. Flushed all fluids. The car maybe sat in the farmer's barn 4+ years. It looks amazing and drives incredible now. Fortunately the environment the car sat was dry & clean.
I just picked one up, a '98 Max, 1 owner garg kept, 148k...and a 5spd! Great shape, and peppy lil car, but has Awesome pullung power on these N. Ga. hills! The stick adds to that effect!!! 😉😂💥💨
Love these old Nissan maximas with the 5-speed manual transmission thanks 😊 👍 🙏 Love your videos
Thanks! i'm quite happy with the quality of my shifts in this video.
Sounds like my BMW’s in-line-6. ❤️ I always maintained that this was Nissan’s best engine ever and also the best Maxima.
It's an incredibly smooth powerplant, and comparible in quality to an i-6 . Agree and agree.

VQ35 is the engine for any maxima this by far isn’t the best maxima

W/only 144k, what kind of money did you have to shell out on? I wouldn't think it'd be in THAT bad of shape...🤔

I didn't care how much you spent; I was only asking what kind of work was done on it. You put up the $$ signs, so there ya go.

What kind of car gearbox transmission do you use?
It was the stock 5 speed manual equipped from factory.
The only thing missing in mine is the fact it’s an automatic
