Sustainable DIY Gift Ideas: Sugar Scrub

The gift of smooth and lightly scented skin is always a hit in our book. And this scrub couldn’t be easier to make. Make it extra personal by adding the gift recipient’s favorite smell or opt for something seasonal like peppermint during winter or lemon in the summer.
You Will Need:
12 oz glass jar + lid (or try glass jars of different sizes)
1 cup coconut oil (opt for organic & Fair Trade Certified™!)
2 cups granulated white or brown sugar
20 drops of (skin safe) essential oil
Mixing bowl
Mixing spoon
Measuring cups
Step 1: In the mixing bowl add in your sugar.
Step 2: Then, add in your coconut oil. If the oil isn’t already liquified (which happens at 78° F), melt it on the stovetop using low heat. Mix until fully blended.
Step 3: Once sugar and coconut oil are mixed, which will start to look like a rough paste, add your essential oil drops then thoroughly mix again.
Step 4: Scoop your final mixture into your glass jar.
Bonus Step: As a finishing touch, tie a sustainable wood scoop or a sprig of seasonal plant to the jar.
