Sustainable DIY Gift Ideas: Fabric Flower Pot Wrap

Liven up any potted plant with a unique gift that blends colors and textures together in an extremely Earth-friendly way. Bring out those scrap fabrics, scratch papers, and other unique looking materials you’ve been stashing, it’s time to make something one-of-a-kind!
You Will Need:
Flower pot
Scrap fabric such as old socks or knit materials (fabrics that have a bit of give to them) Don’t have extra fabric? You can try this with other materials such as used paper, colored cardboards, or bags. Get creative!
Scissors
A plant or plants (bonus points if it’s from something propagated!)
Step 1: Cut a stretchy fabric into strips long enough to fit around the circumference of the pot
Step 2: Tie about 5-7 strips around the pot horizontally depending on how tightly woven you want the final piece to look. Space the horizontal strips evenly.
Step 3: Cut the strips that you will vertically weave into the ones already tied on the pot. Make sure they’re longer than the height of the pot so you have space to start and end your weaving.
Step 4: Weave the vertical strips into the horizontal ones by pushing the fabric over and under till you reach the end of the pot.
Step 5: When you reach the end of the top or bottom of the pot with each vertical strip, tuck the end into the next strip of fabric to hold it secure.
