Disclaimer: I don't vibe with leafy or any of the twitter stuff, just interested in the gameplay.
Leafyishere was one of the most successful independent content creators in the gaming industry, with over 4 million subscribers, famously known as a "CSGO Surf" commentary RUclipsr. He became synonymous with "Surf" itself, catapulting the game and exposing it to millions of players. In this video we will analyze Leafy's CSGO Surf and determine how good of a player he was, and how he would have compared to the average surfer

This video creates a very abstract funny feeling since it goes like "And in the middle of this drama which eventually led to his downfall he almost beats a difficult tier 2 surf map". So disconnected but it makes so much sense

I actually love it, it creates a parallel between the ramping up of Leafy’s surf skills and Leafy’s growing embroilment in drama
For me, it's when he calls a specific biff on a random CSGO surf map a "mistake we've all made at some point"

Leafy's videos got me into surfing as well. I remember when i looked up to him as a pro, because he made it look so effortless and casual. But i've dispelled that illusion, as since then i've completed several t6 maps and countless t5s. I never would have guessed how high the ceiling went past leafy.
I tried surfing after I saw leafy doing it way back in the day and I failed miserably lol. But granted I was around 12 or 13

Yea, I'd say he was above average, but the skill ceiling is just insane, I don't think even he would argue he was anywhere near the top 20%

nah not really, not that he was bad, but I don't think anyone would call him good

Honestly he was getting pretty good I think the problem was all the drugs he started doing when he got banned. I hope this video gets big I love the idea

@plummeted if i remember right, he smoked weed, drank alcohol, did adderall (ik its a pill but a lot of gamers/content creators were on the addy wave then) and was a pill head (i dont remember the pills he took but id assume its the more "basic" pills like oxys, hydros, xanz, ect.). i also believe there was speculation that he did meth and coke at some point too but was never 100% proven
edit: its been like 6/7 years since i actually watched leafy so take some of this with a grain of salt but i can 100% say he smoked weed and drank heavily
i swear i remember leafy making a surfing guide way back in the day, showing the commands and saying he liked linear maps, but kitsune was still his favorite

Surfing is a byproduct of the physics in the Source Engine, so CSGO surf was not called that because of leafy, it was called that because they called it surfing in every previous iteration of the Counter Strike franchise. And the roblox version just copies that.

Leafy got me into surf when I was like 13 in 2015 wasn’t allowed csgo so played it on TF2
I used to watch leafy not for his personality solely to see the gameplay in the background that’s why I watch a ton of content creators that put background play then talks about stuff pretty relaxing

Leafy was a youtuber who used to make videos about random stories of his life, but eventually he ran out of stories so he changed his content to talking about random RUclipsrs, and his fans were infamous for sending absurd amounts of hate and threats to any youtuber he'd talk about. He got banned a few years ago, made a short comeback around 2019/2020, got banned again, and has kinda been gone from the internet for a while noe
a good story youtuber that turned into a rotten racist homophobic sexist anti human pos basically sums him pretty well

Surf existed in CS long before Roblox implemented it. Surf is fairly unique to source games specifically bc of the engine

Surfing was huge in CS Source in like 2008-2010, at least when I played. Good to see it’s still a thing.
Never heard of Leafy though. He certainly didn’t invent surfing.
He was one of the big RUclipsrs of the ‘edge’ period of RUclips just before the adpocalyspe that got RUclips to where it was today. He was infamous for bullying and making fun of other RUclipsrs in videos and getting involved in drama
Last time I played CS was like 14 years ago but I remember watching Leafy and the surf maps always looked rly fun. Very interesting to see if he was good at all! :D

why am i watching this
by the way, that "shaking" isnt directly from high sens, rather its from playing on a high sens with a slow mousepad. WIth something like a glass mousepad, high sens is much more playable, ive been able to maintain practically the same level of smoothness on 1.3-2 sens as I would have on .8

He was a shitty person, he backstabbed/scammed most of the people who helped him/worked for him. Also, this isn't completely his fault, but there's a lot to be said for his type of content limiting what can be said on this platform (although there were other factors here) I did watch and enjoy some of his content but yeah, not the worst, but I think as humans we can do a little better than leafy lmao.
@@clouddz he didn’t scam anyone. He offered to pay someone’s $20 for an intro and ended up paying him $50. He did backstab Keemstar and his content was mostly him insulting people and causing drama, but he was far from being the worst person on this platform
@@Killpop-ls4vb I was referring to my friend who made an outro, leafy kept making up excuses about not being able to make the transfer, blocked him, then continued to use the outro for 3-4 months lol. Yeah I dont think he was the worst, far from it, but just saying "well atleast he isnt a groomer" is pretty low standards lmao.
