Now, Kimberly you have just pointed out something that I had not thought of..I usually let my quilter help me. You have introduced me to new ideas. Thank you!
I'm a fan of swirls for my quilting. I like seeing your ideas as I like the Fast Flowers, Adjore and Rainbow Hearts. Thanks for sharing your favorites!
I loved this video! ❤ My favorite is your favorite! The rose with the leaf. I always feel pressure to chose a design that goes with the theme of the quilt, but you've given me permission to just use what I like! Yay! People pleasers rejoice, lol. I love the Fat Quarter Shop Team!🙏💞🌻
I loved seeing your favorite pantographs and hear why you choose a particular design for a particular quilt (shape/size). I'm new to the long arm process, Gina will be quilting my first ever quilt (Serendipity) and I can't wait to have something done by her (that's if she can fit me in around all of the FQS quilts she's working on...LOL). Thanks for always trying to educate us on the different aspects of quilting...you're a wealth of quilting knowledge, Kimberly!
I'm in awe looking at your beautiful quilts and quilting designs! I watched the video 3 times and will be back to look again I'm sure! I'm new to using a computerized quilting program on my longarm and I really appreciate you sharing your favorites and sharing tips for why you selected each design. My 1st favorite is Rainbow Hearts, but I have a total of 6 that I'd like to add to my collection!
Thank you so much for this video! I almost used the Heart Baptist Fan for Coriander Christmas but I went with the standard Baptist Fan that I adore. But for the Charity Quilt, that will be my jam!!!
Ajoure, chicken wire and continuous baptist fan were my favourites, in that order. Weird, because until I saw this video, I thought I didn't like feathers! 😂 This was a great video and I'd love to see more like it. Thank you. ❤
Love this Kimberly cuz I never know what to ask for! Please do like a series and give us links maybe to find what our long armer isn’t telling us lol TIA,
This was very helpful. I would have never thought to do an all over wavy line design like that flag quilt but its a nice alternative to just straight lines & seems doable on a domestic machine with a walking foot. I think I will test this out on my next project bag.
As always GREAT INFO !! I have always wondered what quilting design you used & now I know. Just recently started "Quilting " my own quilts ( on my domestic maching) using the Pounce chalk & their wonderful (Full Line) stencils. Now that I know what you used I can pick some stencils up. I had my eye on the Baptist Fan & the Clamshells. Thanks again for passing your knowledge our way !!
I am a big fan of the Baptist Fan and all of the variations that you shared. If I bought a long arm that would be the very first pantograph I would get. It can be used in so many different quilts because it is so versatile. I made a mid-century modern designed quilt for my daughter and son in law and that’s how I plan to quilt it. I am hoping that JuJu will come out with a Baptist Fan quilting design that I can do in the hoop using my embroidery machine very soon so I can get it quilted. I do not think I can do it free hand, even if I use a ruler. The fans would end up wonky and that is exactly opposite of how the Baptist fan should look! Thanks Kimberly for sharing your favs. I agree, the quilting should never fight with the quilt to be more prominent than the patchwork! Good thing to keep in mind when you are choosing your quilting design. Such great advice!
I love all the designs and seeing your favorite choices. My only question is, what color thread did you mainly use? Did it vary from quilt to quilt, or do you stick with your color of choice?
I pick the thread accordingly to each quilt fabric, I use Glide thread on all Fat Quarter Shop quilts. Please come follow me on Instagram for all the specific details.
Eventually, I will buy a stitch regulator and frame so I will be able to long arm my quilts. Until then, I straight stitch and FMQ each lock individually 😉😊
Hello Melissa! It depends on what quilter you use. You can find out more about the quilters we use by checking the description box underneath the video.
How do you give the long armed the density instruction? I say “tight” or “dense” but that is so vague and I’m always disappointed that it ends up not small enough.
Personally I always choose a design that isn't too dense as I like to retain softness . Too small and it's flattens the work too much and loses the puffiness. The only exception is table runners where I want a flatter finish. In fact for all the charity quilts I finish on my long arm we are asked not to lose the puffiness. personal choice but to me dense designs are fine if you use computerised long arms where they can reproduce the design with great accuracy. Something I can never achieve in hand guided work
@@AChickandaDuck our charity ones are called "hugs" so especially important that the young care leavers feel cosy when they wrap it around them. Some don't have a good start in life even being fostered rather than in children's care homes.
I think the design called Small Rose is incorrect. What is the correct name of the 2nd design? I would like to use this on a quilt but can’t find it anywhere
A pantograph is an edge to edge design that can be hand driven OR done on a long arm with a computer…….not all long arm quilting machines have a computer
I like seeing these different panographs. I think this is a great reference for me. Thank you.
You always have the most beautiful fabrics and designs. Nothing too bright and wild. 💕Love them all
The chicken wire is so cute!
Now, Kimberly you have just pointed out something that I had not thought of..I usually let my quilter help me. You have introduced me to new ideas. Thank you!
Thanks for showing your beautiful quilts and the pantograph designs.
Your quilts are beautiful! The designs are lovely…hard to chose just one. I do love the chicken wire on the barn quilt.

I love waves with hearts!!
Thank you ever so much! This has been very informative and wish I had known this before. 👏🏻💕
Thanks so much for this info, Kimberly!!
These were gorgeous! I'd never seen the chicken wire design. It worked perfect with Lori's patterns.
Love this lesson in quilt choices. Another FQS winner! Kimberly, you are genius to think of this for us!
I loved this video! ❤

I love the Rainbow Hearts! How fun and different; I haven't seen that one before.
My favorite would be Ajoure. Thanks for sharing these pantographs!
Beautifully designed quilts and quilting choices.
One of my long armers has a pantograph with snowflakes and Christmas lights!
My favorite was the heart pantograph!
I love the feather pantograph 🥰
Loved this video and I am sharing it with my LAQ! Very helpful!

Beautiful quilting for sure. You have taught me a lot about quilt design and what’s appropriate for what. You nail it every time. God bless. 👏🏻💕👏🏻
Thanks for sharing your favorites! I love the small rose as well, great choice!
I love the fans with the hearts.
Great information… i like the Baptista fan also.
Liked them all! I have not sent any yet hoping to do my own!
Can you also do a video like this for those of us that quilt on a regular size machine?
Thank you. Very helpful.

I would love to know what thread Gina used on the flag quilt? I love how well it blended.
Me too! I struggle with the dark backgrounds...
Me too! It's hard to choose one colour if you're crossing from dark fabric to light to dark again.
I like the Urban Elements pattern Obsidian for something different.

lovved it all
Can you say what color thread you used for each pano?
Seconding this - it was hard to see when watching on my phone. :)
I would love to know too! They all blend so well! I really struggle with thread selection.
You can follow me on Instagram, I share all
details on thread color when I post Fat Quarter Shop quilts.

Kimberly, the small rose quilt pattern doesn’t look the same as the insert picture. Am I confused?
Love this video, helps a lot! Wondering if the small rose shown in the second quilt is what was used on that quilt, the flower looks different.
Eventually, I will buy a stitch regulator and frame so I will be able to long arm my quilts. Until then, I straight stitch and FMQ each lock individually 😉😊
Your eyes looki like they are healing well. Blessings
What is the price range for a long armer to quilt for you? I am about to finish a queen size top and have always done the quilting myself.

I’m the same, especially for quilts that are going to be used for sleeping/cuddling.

I do not like the Baptist Fan in any variation, but I live all of the other choices. If I could do only one forever, it would he the Orange Peel!!
I think the design called Small Rose is incorrect. What is the correct name of the 2nd design? I would like to use this on a quilt but can’t find it anywhere
I found it! It’s Flora designed by Lorien Quilting. That was a lot of 🌸 to scroll through

What color did you choose for the red, white, and blue block of the week quilt?
Hello Cinthia! Gina used Glide 60 Linen. www.thread-graffiti.com/
What color thread did you choose for top of the patriotic flag quilt?
What would you put on a Xmas quilt?
I don't think that's Small Rose on the MINI COURTHOUSE STEPS QUILT. The flowers don't look the same...
Pantographs are NOT just digital as stated in your intro. I buy and make paper pantographs all the time.
