This is exactly what I plan to do for our Japan and South Korea trip in March! We'll be traveling for three weeks straight, so I'm also going to pack some detergent tablets as well. I just don't want to worry about a big suitcase when we're traveling via train, bus, etc. I hope you had an amazing trip!

That's a nice bag! It's basically a suitcase with backpack straps. I used to have a soft briefcase with backpack straps that I would take on flights for work.

Finally, youtube recommends someone who packs like I do!!! Hey, minimal-packing buddy. I bought (and returned) SO MANY backpacks from Amazon until I found one that I love. Looks like yours is very similar to mine. Nice find 👍 Personal-item only is the only way I go anymore. I've been trying to figure out all sorts of ways to go on longer, more involved trips with less stuff. It's so freeing.

@@RileyDoesLife I get you! A little less each time. All the little extras are what I'm working on paring down now. Clothes and toiletries are easy to go minimal for me. It's the "what-if" and "just-in-case" things that sneak in that are harder, haha.

ik you mentioned putting this in the overhead compartment, but do you think it would have fit under the seat for a traditional personal item? im flying for the first time in a few weeks and im shopping around for a travel bookbag that'll work for my personal item in addition to a carry on!
Yes I actually was able to fit it under the seat but if it’s super full it may pop out slightly. Fortunately no one said anything but I did have to rest my feet on top of my bag a little.

Unfortunately the backpack you linked is too tall. A personal item is only 18" tall
It’s a backpack so I was able to squish it down under the seat. I had no problems taking it on the plane with me.
