5 lbs Heckers All Purpose Flour (Hecker’s brand tastes best) (2.26kg)
2 cups vegetable oil (475ml)
10 large eggs at room temperature
2 ½ cups warm Water (595ml)
1/2 teaspoon Yeast (into 1/2 cup of warm water) (2.4g)
1/4 cup Salt (1.5g)
1 to 2 Tablespoons Ground Black Pepper (to taste) (7-14g)
¼ Cup Fennel Seeds (to taste) (24g)

Who is this lady?
Gina Petitti was born in 1935 in Faeto, Italy. Her family ran a farm in Italy and she met her husband, Vito, in the same town. In 1970 Gina, Vito, and her 4 children immigrated to America. Gina’s husband passed away in 2012, but she is surrounded by a large family, which includes 9 grandchildren, and lives 5 minutes away from her eldest daughter in New Jersey. Gina spends her time cooking, gardening, and being an active member of her local Church.
Where does Gina get her recipes?
Most of these recipes are from what she learned growing up in Italy, but some of them have evolved over time. She has also learned new recipes from friends and family in America. She is always eager to try new things.
Why is no one helping her in the video?
Grandma Gina doesn’t want help! Usually, it’s because we will slow her down or not do it “her way.” For the videos we only show her, but when the camera cuts we jump in and help form the cookies or prep for the next step.
Why don’t we buy her a new...?
Grandma Gina has a closet and garage full of new gadgets, spoons, forks, pots, etc… but she doesn’t like them because she is used to doing it with her old tools. She has fun getting her hands dirty!
Who is behind the camera?
Her retired son-in-law films, her daughter helps her prep, and she usually has one or two grandkids in the kitchen.
Does Gina read the comments?

As an Italian, I see no disrespect to anyone talking badly. A lot of Italians are animated/emotional and we have our own family quirks. This family is getting along well and working together. If you didn't come from this way of speaking and mannerisms of speech then you wouldn't understand Italians and our culture.

I prefer when the son in law because he let Gina work and the subtitles are more useful than the interference from the lady for 2 reasons: she add too many useless interjections. I feel she does talk down may be. No offence but I hope this comment is helpful

I do not agree with the last comment, as it seems this video was done in 2015 (an early filming) before your mom knew her way around video-making and speaking directly to an audience. I love Grandma Gina, her recipes, tips and execution. She has such strong arms and capable hands. Plus she is sooo cute. I’m glad the “back seat driver” is absent from laters videos too (ha), but a few years ago when this was filmed, Gina and her family were trying to hit their strides. I am making a tray of sausage, pepper, onions and potatoes for a 4th of July party. (Gina’s recipe!) God Bless! (PS…I bought Grandma Gina’s book as a Birthday present to ME…..love it)

I noticed some of you fellas pitying her and feeling that the little lady is such a poor thing for having to do all that hard work kneading. Well if you ask me, i think that's probably what keeps her going. The active lifestyle. Did you see how she switched to a cinammon cake the moment the taralli were in order? That is being active! All that kneading is good for her guys! It'll keep her fit for years to come.

Yes You are right i was gonna said same thing is different when doing by her self her daughter the lady does' nt let her speak we need to know difference for the experienced lady My mother is also 80 this may and still unstoppable she cooks and raise chickens so she can live her normal life as she grew up but happy as she can be.🙏🏼 She's much better with her son in law because he is so respectfull and ask questions about receipes and she sings along when cooking, as little kid used to watch grandma cooking as well My mother and thats how i learned stole their secrets and try to improve them but found that original ingredients ser mucho better they just used salt pepper cummin cinnamon cloves rosemary garlic onions tomatoes the very básic kitchen ingredients grandma use to say patience and low flames makes great dishes. I have watched dozens and dozens of Grandma Gina's cooking videos. She is almost 80 in this one... from 2015. She looks and acts 20 years younger in her videos I have watched from 2019 and even 2020. I hope Gina lives to be 110 and keeps showing us all how to cook and eat until then. Sharing her wonderful knowledge is keeping her young. (It's keeping me fat, but damnnnn I'm happy!)

This is one of the first videos made, 4 years ago when Grandma Gina was 80. She has become a star! And an excellent role model too. We can only wish to be as strong, healthy and confident as she is today. Thank you to Gina and family for sharing these recipes, but also the spirit and charm of a beautiful, wholesome family. May you never forget your family traditions. Blessings to all of you. Oh and since Grandma Gina is a star now, could somebody raise the floor or lower the countertops for her? LOL! So much vitality in such a petite package! She really is the quintessential Italian Mamma! :D
The lady in the background called her Ma... Whether she's her mother or not she's extremely rude and this woman is working so hard with little appreciation from the bossy loud mouth in the back

Hey daughter you are bossy with Mama and making her unsure of herself...I think with her years of cooking there is no need for the apprentices opinion of how the master and expert how she does something she clearly has done her entire life...why doubt and ask if this recipe was hers or from Italy. Although you clearly say you don't remember ever having these little ones in Italy and only ever eating big ones in Italy then why tell the professional what to do? You humiliate that is insulting.

Gina doesn't need an interpreter or a 'traffic cop'; it's too distracting with others. Gina's daughter comes across as undermining her mother when she's measuring ingredients or using the microwave etc. If she uses too much salt, measure it out before you start filming. Post a list of ingredients at the end of each video. Otherwise, I'm a big fan and I love everything about her on her own.... her accent, her food, her singing etc! If I could afford it, I would send her a standing mixer with a dough hook for Mother's Day!

This must’ve been from the early days of filming Gina! We don’t need the daughters constantly echoing feeble efforts to translate for grandma. It is annoying to the max! But, it’s a process. Practice makes perfect and I am so relieved that they arrived at the perfect formula of letting grandma speak (and sing)for herself. It is the charm of her struggling to communicate half an English half an Italian that makes the success of these videos complete. She is charming all by her self and any attempt to modify her efforts only detracts from the charming way she comes across. Had I seen this video first I would never have been back but following her many other more recent videos I stumbled upon this one which is clearly an early effort. Bravo to the family group whose combined efforts have presented Gina to the world in the way now familiar to her adoring followers.

The is the only video where there are parts where she looks confused when the other lady is talking and it is distracting. I love hearing her talk and sing. There were other earlier episodes where there was a young man in the background. Maybe son in law? But he only asked conversational questions at specific times and never told Gina what to do.

For the love of God and all we call holy, who’s the mouth offering all the unnecessary commentary? I’m thinking this must be an older video because one, Gina’s hair is much darker and two, the person videoing doesn’t talk at all. Please, let Gina do her own thing. She doesn’t need any help from anyone! She’s the greatest thing EVER! I just recently came upon her site and am hooked! Oh. And no disrespect intended for the background mouth…… it was too difficult to watch and listen to her stories……. Love you, Gina!

She was almost 80 then. She is now 86. And yes, the daughter or in-law is very abrasive indeed.
Grand Ma does fine by herself, when she is not being told what to do. She likes doing things her way. I'm sure she's been doing this a lot longer than you have. She wanted a knife to cut her bread and you told her to use the scraper.

Yep, she will be 81 in September. She doesn't like a lot of help because despite our best efforts, she says "we do not do it right".

I think her daughter was trying to help have Gina explain and didn't think she was disrespectful at all. I like the new format much better but she clearly loves her Mama. And hey! Her daughter has that Jersey accent! LOL. Love this show, but Gina is such a star she is awesome all by herself!

I agree with the other comments, Gina doesn't need another person giving her directions and distracting her. I couldn't watch this video because of the daughter. I have watched and loved her videos where Gina does her own thing.

This is annoying PERIOD.
Same happened with this Puerto Rico guy. His daughter talked the same crap up like here and had the audacity to wave her hand always in front of the camera. People got so angry but I just canceled my subscription- sure they lost not only me. What is the problem with family members - you want a part of the fame hahaha. My advice keep out and stay behind the action. Gina is just fine on her own. Shhhhh......
