  • Your vestibular system is so important it begins to form in the embryo after just one month! Balance comes from the communication system between semi-circular canals, cerebellum, reticular activating system, eyes, and proprioception. How does this affect an injured brain? Neurophysiologist Dr. Carla Hannaford explains it to the Brain Recovery Coach, Nathalie Kelly.

Thank you first for doing this series. 6 years this month, I woke up lightheaded/dizzy and have had a balance and dizzy problem since. 1year ago my doctor was surprised I still had "it", suggested vestibular rehab but actually, awakened a desire in me to research what vestibular problems were all about. ENT doctor had 4 years ago done an MRI but even though she knew I had these symptoms just wrote me the MRI was normal. LAST year, I got in touch with her, balled her out for not suggesting anything or anyone to help with the balance and dizziness and she then got e transferred to Baylor here in Houston. Saw a specialist. I do NOT have Vertigo and then they explained after the Rotator Chair and other tests, that my ears were not communicating with that part of my brain that handles balance which then causes dizziness. I have now completed 3 weeiks of therapy, and its a joy when I can stand on 1 foot for 5 seconds vs the original not at all. Am right now going to listen to your other videos but thanks to both of you again for sharing this...am determined to fix this and then share MY story because a lot of people deal with this and have no one to help
