Naaah!! I had A Blackberry Curve 8520 for like 8 months, then upgraded to Blackberry Bold 9900 which I thought is awesome, but after a few weeks having it I understood that blackberry's just suck because of the appworld, but it was great for messaging. I had it for year and a half, then I upgraded to a Samsung Galaxy S3 which is absolutely awesome and I love it. Some of my friends have Iphones, I used them sometimes and i personally didn't like them. Android rules all the way. I recon that 1st place is Android, 2nd is Iphone and 3rd is Blackberry. (dont hate people, thats my opinion. All of them are great phones)
Thnik about it... If RIM updates the camera of the Blackberry devices, how would these images get on BBM? As the images can't be too heavy, to make the BBM network faster.
@FuriousTechnology: What do you think re: durability? I am SUCH a clutz & have broken phones before my BlackBerry Torch. This has taken mad abuse & still going strong. I love this phone but I want the Flash platform! Agh! Is it true that Adobe isn't even working on Flash for BB? Thanks in advance!
I had a blackberry for a year and a half and hated it so much. Froze constantly and took FOREVER to do anything. Got a WP a few months ago and fell in love, by far the best phone I've ever had.
The only thing I disagreed with was the Battery life comparison. Besides that, I thought it was pretty fair and accurate. I've been an iPhone 4 user for a year and a half now and I'm really starting to get frustrated with it. I find myself messaging and emailing more and more, so I'm thinking of changing over to Blackberry once they come out with BB10.
Honest, Forthright, Candid, Accurate, and Fair !!! Well Done!!! Very Helpful. Blackberry 9300 user ---upgrading to 9360, this will be my 4th generation curve. Had the 1st generation Torch for 24 hrs & went back to Curve. Thank You, will subscribe
difference , the answer is not really , the reason is both have way more than enough to bring it up . the program is in reality only going to use what it needs to start up . the cores are not going to max out temperarely in order to load the program faster . so in reality comparing phone hardware will be the same . of course a few 3d games will be different , however the speed of normal operation shouldnt have a noticeable difference. in that regard it comes down to how well the os is written
Have you ever used iPhone 4's flash on the camera ? Looks like youre pointing a flashlight into the camera lense. My S2X on the other hand, beautiful. This is true with all Androids as its in the architecture of the camera's autofocus and autocolor. It's still a problem in iPhone 5
I don't think people "Who never used a smartphone before" will immediately close all background applications... They probably have NO idea what multitasking is on a phone.
plus blackberry is more of a business orientated phone but since consumer preferences are changing BB shifted there focus more on media, social networking and browsing and tried to bring the best of both worlds together. in the end it is the user who decides which phone suits his needs so there is no winner imo
Quite a good review and I found it pretty balanced. I'd have like to hear about the Wi-fi access point facilities of these phones though. You didn't mention the infrastructure differences (ie: Blackberry's costs in BES - and corresponding data savings). I'd also have liked to know about USB connectivity. Thanks though. Very thorough.
If you want to work with it, choose BB or if you want to have fun (games movies... Go for Android) If you don't mind about the price , you can go for the 10inch Samsung tablet and have BB for work. I recently purchased the Tab 2 and it is awesome.
well about the accessories its not that its been on the market longer ITS CUZ THEY DON'T CHANGE THE DESIGN VERY OFTEN SO IF YOU HAD SAY A IPHONE 3G AND MOVED TO A 3GS YOU COULD STILL USE THE SAME ACCESSORIES ON BOTH PHONES SAME GOES FOR 4 AND 4S
keep in mind this vid is almost a year old also it has the latest iphone, whereas android and blackberry have put out much more and gotten much more advanced/ better
This is an excellent video. I have been researching the choice of smartphone for days now......have spoken to a number of sales assistants in mobile stores..........and have researched online. Nothing has come close to such a succinct resume of the elements of choosing as laid out in this video. Thank you!
I also own a 9780. (as well as SG3). 9780 is the phone I like to go back to after I get tired of whatever im using at the time. Great underrated phone. Long battery. LOUD speaker. Battery lasts for days. One of the best BBs RIM ever made.

sir honestly i was expecting more from that review, i have a couple of points of comparison that you never talked about, like performance witch one is faster running apps or the os in general, you should try some benchmarks, and storage capacity and expansion capability, those are important things to consider
First of all you can't compare the price, cell service, camera or battery life to the iPhone because there are multiple Android and Blackbery models out their on different networks at different locations. Along with accessories. Second of all you forgot about storage. The iPhone does not have a micro sd card slot, so no extra space where as Android and Blackbery do. Third of all just because some thing is open source doesn't mean it has more viruses, look at windows(Lots of viruses).
i have the Bold 9900 and i love it. the biggest drawback for me is the battery life, which he pointed out. the browser works well (noticeably too secure), but isn't as fluid as the iPhone, which he said too. third-party apps are sometimes HORRIBLE and poorly built, but i have to say that all apps developed by RIM itself are all AMAZING and just work well with the entire OS! camera's okay. but everything he said, email, security, call quality, bbm, ease of use, value... all very true.
Most other reviewers I've seen, even ones that don't like BlackBerry or just like it for BBM agree that RIM is "finally there" with their browser. It is now almost as fast as Android/iPhone. But that is only true with OS7 devices. They started the webkit project in OS6, but it didn't really get "there" until OS7. But Opera Mini has always been FANTASTIC on BlackBerry since OS4/OS5 days, which is what I've always used.
i think it's impossible to compare the os of these phones since android for once is a system that is highly customizable for every handset or manufacturer so it can work well on one phone but not so good on the other one depending on hardware or software.
of recieving my bold it would no longer start youtube videos at all ,it had issues with crashing and doing random reboots, andi recieved not1 but 3 fully defective phones from blackberry . then the working one screwed up my youtube . the torch was well . ok but ehh it didnt impress me so highly to make up for the os issues. ive had android , which was very cool . im very tech savey , and in honesty it felt to me like you spend more time learning to work the phone and the new features
I would agree with you except for the BB stereoptype you threw in there. I'm not a big business person and I love my BB for it's superior texting speed (thanks to it's physical keyboard) it's ability to run multiple apps at a time, and frankly, that it's the only phone I could find that has a physical keyboard, touchscreen, and optical mouse. Also I can use it with gloves on which is always nice in the winter.
actually thats a hit an miss thing , technically if you compare the most recent os from a company to another you have a good comparision , sure hardware can change a bit . however using the normal interface regardless should be the same speed give or take .and the features (minus the very few intensive ones) should operate the same . because lets put this in terms of desktops . when opening say windows media center will using a more inferior amd proccessor compared to an intel one make much of
I owned a Blackberry Curve 8520 before my recent Samsung Galaxy Ace 2. The Blackberry could barely be called a smartphone. It's good for messaging but you could email with non-smartphones even. Also, I hate BBM (due to the broadcast feature). Every phone has KiK messenger so BBM doesn't have such a huge advantage. Also, you can't go offline on BBM.
to be honest..Why would someone want a blackberry i had the 8520 os corrupted 5 times in 2 months (inc 2 different phones I had the bold 9900 and the trackpad failed 2 times and you have to pay for the blackberry internet
that bb 9900 is $1200 in nz at the moment where the iphone and galaxy s2 are around $800. If i did get a bb i would want the bold 9900, but $400 more is a bit of a joke for a phone with less.
I had a coupe of Blackberry over the years... A couple of days ago it crashes so I went to my service provider and asked "BB or IPhone or Samsung Galaxy SIII"? The 3 persons behind the counter said "Samsung" so I got one... 3 days later, I went back with that "toy" and got a BB9900. The big differences are : Battery life & if you run a business & travel a lot (drive or whate ever) the BB is a tool not a toy
@MultiDanial1234 Hate to break it to you, but have you tried one of the newest blackberries lately? I own all three, and my torch 9810 is the most reliable of any.
Yeah this is a half assed review. When you did the browser tests you didn't even mention that you can simply disable flash completely or use on demand. The new ICS browser makes the latest iOS browser look really slow and simple. Also, if Android is "too difficult" for you to use, then you shouldn't be using it in the first place. It's for people who know what they want.
LOL, im not one to normally think of set in stone answers but EVERY single person I know with a blackberry has problems, bbm is always down, keys stop working, and they're constantly breaking. everyone I know with an iphone has never had a problem and and my friends with androids seem to love them.
This was surprising well thought out, even though the presentation was very basic, it wasn't wrong or bad. The actual content and comparison was very nice.. Good work, +1 sub.
Hard keyboard -touch screen -easy to type -expandable memory -sim card- easy to replace battery - cheap to to buy and cheap data plans - Blackyberry I choose you! For me bb is the best because i don't need to be glued to social media and millions of useless time wasting apps. I keep it simple
I disagree on the battery life assessments... I commonly see my friends' iPhones and Androids running out of power way before my Bold 9900 does. (and they have those battery packs attached) Yes they have a "bigger" battery but they also use up A LOT of power!
How on earth can you put down voice quality and reception on Android?? That's like saying the color red is slow and blue is fast... Because your sisters bike is red and your mustang is blue.
Hey, what makes you think I'm a kid? You should stop judging and get a valid point, I find the iPhone 5 and the Galaxy S3/Note 2 better because they are succesors from other phones that also had successed in the smartphone industry, Blackberry was left aside for a long time until they switched to Blackberry 10 and finally got a decent touchscreen and a nice phone design, but I think that Blackberry is just starting to re-invent itself and it still needs more years to get to the top.
no the processor hast even been shown yet that not 3 times faster . the pixel resolution is 264 pixels per inch while IPHONE has a retina of 364 per inch and the battery size doesn't matter really that little Samsung brick battery are tiny and last a month on standby so think before you say please
Blackberry: Business professionals iPhone: Hipsters, women, and elitist rich people Windows Phone: Someone desperate for change Android: Nerds, customization lovers, google users, and everyone else
umm....There are none. I just checked, and A Non Contract iPhone 4s starts at 500 and goes up to in some cases 1200.. The highest end Android phone, the HTC One X, never exceeds 550. Yet another reason to "Root For Android!"
i guess i should give 3 pts for blackberry instead of 1pt only for long lasting battery. i have blackberry and without charging still ongoing on the 2nd day. damn!
Only other thing is "customization" in terms of # of options in changing OS behavior BlackBerry wins by a LONG SHOT; but not in terms of themes. That's just my two cents. I shouldn't complain at all because you are one of few fair phone reviewers. Most think BB isn't even worth it. I'm an outcast for using one still & I'm proud of it. I actually switched recently to their new all-touch Torch 9860. I can't put the bloomin' phone down it's so good. So anyway good review mate, thanks!
Android users=girls+ under 19 yo kids
Blackberry is for mature people
No, the fact that you don't have an argument discredits you.
Naaah!! thank you so much for agreeing with me.. I'm glad that not everyone is a fanboy here...
if the android apps support for bb would be better it would be:
1:blackberry
2:android
3:ishit
Hahahaha
that's ok, not everyone gets to be an astronaut when they grow up.
No this is not right.... Blackberry's suck and android is 100 times better than iphone
Blackberry is so old and crap
just to let you know, you dont just navigate with the track ball, thats a touch screen on the blackberry
why cant android, blackberry and iphone come together and make the ultimate phone
I am surprised blackberry is going against the two powerhouses.
i LOVE HOW HE GOES SO QUIET HALF WAY THOU
Thnik about it... If RIM updates the camera of the Blackberry devices, how would these images get on BBM? As the images can't be too heavy, to make the BBM network faster.
i bet you'd win any spelling bee you enter
@FuriousTechnology: What do you think re: durability? I am SUCH a clutz & have broken phones before my BlackBerry Torch. This has taken mad abuse & still going strong. I love this phone but I want the Flash platform! Agh! Is it true that Adobe isn't even working on Flash for BB? Thanks in advance!

i really like how in depth you went great vid. i have finally made up my mind on what phone to get :)
Honest, Forthright, Candid, Accurate, and Fair !!!

I'm a BB user and proud. Sure it's not as fun and as the other 2 phones, but there's nothing like texting on a real smooth physical keyboard.
Love this review, factual, non bias, and gives a consumer an open mind about all devices
I don't think people "Who never used a smartphone before" will immediately close all background applications... They probably have NO idea what multitasking is on a phone.

what wallpaper did you use on the andriod?
Is the Bold 9900's battery really THAT bad?
keep in mind this vid is almost a year old
also it has the latest iphone, whereas android and blackberry have put out much more and gotten much more advanced/ better
Concise, clear, easy-to-understand review! The best phone for me will be the Blackberry.

SOmetime in Feb the phones will be available to buy, but the product is launched and made public on 30 Jan.
the browser speed also depends on your wifi, 3g or network connection.
i have the blackberry curve 8520 and i want to change it to a galaxy ace good choice?

Blackberry has waaaaay more accessories than iphone. this guy is a goof.
Can you please post the link where you found this information, or are you just posting from ignorance?
Can you please tell me what is the live wallpaper ?
i thought you were comparing the phones, not how many phones the companies have...
in the background and what it takes to power devoce ios scree ntechnoligies etc.
to be honest..Why would someone want a blackberry i had the 8520 os corrupted 5 times in 2 months (inc 2 different phones I had the bold 9900 and the trackpad failed 2 times and you have to pay for the blackberry internet
is good for gaming even though the size is awkward
don't u think

yea my mom who doesnt understand phones learned the iphone in 1 minutes and put it back down in 1 minute.
the blackberry is a business phone. it's not meant for kids who want to play with apps all day

what live wallpaper is that on the galaxy s2?
whoa. battery life bad on blackberry? I have 9900 with OS7.1 and stays with me 2 days without chargers? :D iPhone is out juice by 1st day @6pm.
Not to mention you have to keep paying to update your phone when the update the software.
I would have had 1.android 2. apple 3. wp7 4. web os then black berry! why did he not included wp7?
I disagree on the battery life assessments... I commonly see my friends' iPhones and Androids running out of power way before my Bold 9900 does. (and they have those battery packs attached)

What is the wallpaper on the Samsung galaxy s2x
the iphone 4s doesnt have an 8 mp cam..?
umm....There are none. I just checked, and A Non Contract iPhone 4s starts at 500 and goes up to in some cases 1200.. The highest end Android phone, the HTC One X, never exceeds 550. Yet another reason to "Root For Android!"
I have used the e-mailing system in iOS and it was incredibly hard to use.
Blackberry has been in the game way before both of these kids!!
Did you straight up go back to this 10 year old phone review and add chapters?
No they were automatically added by youtube lol
the fact that youre defending blackberry discredits your argument
i guess i should give 3 pts for blackberry instead of 1pt only for long lasting battery. i have blackberry and without charging still ongoing on the 2nd day. damn!
Only other thing is "customization" in terms of # of options in changing OS behavior BlackBerry wins by a LONG SHOT; but not in terms of themes. That's just my two cents. blackberry? you joke.
blackberry out the comparison !
galaxy vs iphone!!!
dude this was a very fair review
blackberry strongpoints: battery life, physical keyboard.
iphone strongpoints: ease of use, itunes (if you even use it).
android strongpoints: everything else.
Are you sure about the battery life ?
The Blackberry is the most durable brother. You didnt talk about that or did I miss that
what kind of BB do you have? I'll trade you for a droid charge if you have VZW!
battery life is definitely wayyyy better on the blackberry than both phones.
CAPS LOCK!! Your opinion is much more valid than everyone else's!!
Blackberry has nothing on Android or iOS.
so im sitting here watching this with my phone and i realize i have an android exactly like that!:D
