Ron, if you're still in England then please try to visit Colin Furze. His build is just off the chart....
Colin is apparently very difficult to get hold of. Well, his agent!!!
Ron has already left UK shortly after the bunker visit.
please do 🙏
What a cool tour, it’s amazing to me that everything is not behind a cage and fenced off, and people monitoring your every move as you go through the facility making sure you don’t steal or break things,- says a lot about the culture and the people
The "honesty boxes" were a surprise :)
Nice to see a video from Ron again!
It's not a Secret if they have signs pointing to the Bunker. Love the bunker videos, keep them coming Ron. 👍👍👍
Shhh don’t tell anyone
They probably didn't have signs up in the bad old days.
That training film was narrated by Will Shatner. Wild.
which one "the star trek - william shater", and where was it in the video? 23:36, please :-)
“Bunker Baby” was super cute. Love the tour videos, hope you keep them up.
yolo hope everyone is doing great
Nice to see you Ron
Thank you Ron.
I recommend that you watch the bbc drama 'Threads' from the 1980's. Even Ronald Regan rethought his Nuclear policies after watching it.
I heard it was "The Day After" that gave Reagan food for thought on nuclear war (although Threads is more of a gut-punch).
I've visited Kelvedon Hatch, it's a great day out.
Bunker Baby!!!! Followed by ouch!!! Followed by What happened to the goats?
Thanks for watching it all.

Wow, I'm in my 40s uk man and never knew that was there. It's also pretty cool that cubs and scouts do overnight visits.
Great to see thank you for the video where I live in the UK there are a few WW2 bunkers but most of the the cold war ones have been filled in sadly.
Im in Australia and i love these videos while i know we dont do much of this stuff over here i do truly love the idea of having such a wonderful safe secure space for my loved one's if i ever win the lottery and own my own property one day, ill have to see if y'all have a way of shipping down under! 🤣
Also worth checking out is Hack Green bunker near Nantwich and The Battle of Britain bunker in Uxbridge
I've been here before! A few friends and I shot a RUclips video where we simulated a Zombie Apocalypse here so it's cool to see you tour it casually. Big fan of your videos :)
Welcome to the UK Ron! Hope you enjoyed it here.🙂
Very interesting to watch your tour as my 9-year-old son it's going there for a sleep over the next month. I visited the bunker when it first opened back in the early two thousands and it was very interesting.
As a wheelchair user this bunker doesn't look very wheelchair friendly to me. So thank you for making this video because you have enabled me to see a bunker that I wouldn't otherwise be able to visit. The only bunker I have been able to access so far is the Diefenbunker in Ottawa, Canada.
Unfortunately not hopefully they put a lift in at some point to make it more wheelchair friendly
Bunker Baby! Ouch!
What happened to the goats?
Rön[tgen] Equivalent Man. 😁👍
Adult wands!?!? That's a heck of a name for the guided tour devices!!! 😮🤣🤣🤣
For sure. LMAO
maybe they host adult parties after 6pm that sign is for those that they forgot to take down?
i hate this modern era, where every word has a double and triple entendre. you cant just say "wand" "cat" "dog" etc they all have meanings to people obsessed with pornography who walk among us.
@@gimme88 Sometimes things can just be a joke and shouldnt be taken too seriously. Also some words evolve (for better or worse) Can't imagine anyone still using the word gay for carefree anymore due to its overtaken meaning.
@@gimme88 Unless you've been out of circulation for awhile Adult wands tend to be a very specific type of device. No entendre required! Though I am curious to see how people use 'dog' and 'cat' as an entendre....sounds like your searches are a bit too spicey for my taste!
If you visit, play the recordings on the wand in order and it will tell you to follow the white arrows on the floor, and explain everything as you go around. It’s a staggering place.
LOL. I knew you would buys those books. TY for this Mr. Ron.
1:17 "about a half hour from Essex, England". Whilst standing right there in Essex, England. Gotta love the Yanks.
The exit tunnel was added after decommissioning to meet fire regulations for public use, they diamond-rope cut through the bunker wall. Also the bunker was largely empty when the government sold it to the original land owner (the Parrish family)
RIP To the GOATS!!!!
I loved watching this. Great video and info. Thank you Ron 👌♥️✌️🇬🇧
the goat scene "Noooooo!" LOL +1 upvote
I have been in there a few times as live up the road in Harlow, changed a little since I first went in the late 90ts but a must see. The exit wasn't there before, they had to build that because of visitors coming to see it.
Bunker Baby! 🤣
Ouch! Be careful!
The spitfires @13:07 fly from Solent Airfield (Daedalus Dr, Lee-on-the-Solent PO13 9FZ), they fly over my house most good weather days. Such a unique sound from the Merlin engine but very expensive to be taken up in one.
I was the guy who reminded the last of the furniture and barrack items from RAF trimmingham. That place was wild.
A good friend of mine has toured this site, it is impressive.
Superb video - really enjoyed the trip Ron.
Pity it was a bit rushed given our time constraints.
:)
There is another one I know of in Scotland near crail and StAndrews, Fife. Literally called “The Secret Bunker “. Just off the B940
Ron! How about some new installation videos! I know it must be up to the bunker owners . Come on! Give me content 🎉. I have watched them all already. Some several times. Thank you for your time.
I've been here, alot bigger than expected too
The "secret nuclear bunker" at Kelvedon Hatch, Essex is a good tour, worth doing! Take the kids!
Awsome vid!
8:44 teleprinters / teletype connected via telephone cables and radio to other external stations.
9:20 meccanical telefon switch telefon switch ! (RUclips Connections Museum)
18:44 refrigeration plant for heat extraction and dissipation to the outside, that is a 3 piston refrigeration compressor, electricity and people generate a huge amount of heat each person emits 80/100W, if we consider the amount of people, lighting all the electronics and the high insulation of an underground bunker the air conditioning and forced dehumidification is essential.
Also very interesting are the small lookout bunkers scattered throughout the country (1563) to monitor the entire territory, some have been restored by private individuals, there is a youtuber (Surviving The Apocalypse) who restored one and it is beautiful, they are called ROC post (Royal Observer Corps)
We visited there last month all he 1960’s Giger muller counters in there!!! 😮
not exactly secret anymore lol - great video!
Decomissionned in 1992 ...
Lowkey had parts that remind me of things you'd see in those ww2 movies/shows in the uk. Like that doctor who episode with Churchill.
missed the generator room as you walked in, it's on the left, a pair of 125KVA RR generators
It’s only 40 miles away from me. I’ll have to go one day. Yeah duxford has an RAF air museum.
THKS
It would have been too expensive to create the space needed to accommodate 600 individual bunks, so what would have happened in actual practice is something called 'hot bunking', where people would share a bunk. One would get up from their bunk and go do their shift, and someone coming off theirs would occupy that bunk and rest. Not exactly the most sanitary arrangement, but in a wartime situation, necessary.
So, at most, there would have been only 300 bunks if everyone worked on a 12 hours on, 12 off schedule.
We did hot bunking on the old submarines SS 425 USS Trumpetfish back in the late 1960's
ive been to kelvadon hatch ..... loved it :)
A whole battalion underground. That is crazy
24:01 Trinity and Beyond: The Atomic Bomb Movie on DVD is a great watch!
I live less than 5 minutes drive from this place. It's owned by the Parrish family who's land was commandeered for the bunker to be built in the early 50s. After it was decommissioned in the 90s it was handed back. The guy in the video with the 'interesting' hair, where you entered the house at the beginning explaining how to use the wands, is Parrish's son who now owns it (along with the aptly named 'Nuclear Races' across the road, which is an assault course and mud run). He's often in the gift room/canteen at the end of the tour taking the payments.
At 22:56, that would have been the Prime Minister's room (Margaret Thatcher at the time) if the cold war had turned to actual nuclear bombing of the UK, and the bunker had been needed in anger.
The room you're in at 28:30 used to be open to the command room below where the maps and shuffle table is, so military/government leaders could see down from above and instruct the movements.
Everything still works as you mention. God forbid, it could still be used for it's original intention now, although most electronic systems would be difficult to operate as very few people know how to run them and communicate out.
The top floor smells a bit funky now, but generally everything else is quite liveable if you really had to. People would hot bunk in the sleeping quarters - one out, one in - on a shift system.
Around Halloween the bunker is rented out to a local special effects company who produce a live action scare tour. They basically turn off most of the lights and have actors dressed appropriately to scare the sh*t out of you. It's good fun!
This was great! It helps to understand all the shortfalls of individual bunkers. It would be great if we could all put $2M into a bunker. I can't see building a survival space for more than 3 days and the vastness of a fallout bunker. The cost is prohibitive for most of us. I don't think the USA is prepared like other countries. Otherwise, I just feel like we will be the unfortunate ones. 😥
If you think it is necessary you just build an under home. I think it would be way cool. A big plus would be the ease of heat and cooling
Do you know where they're operating from now, after this place was abandoned in 1992? I would assume it's a lot bigger and deeper than this one, otherwise they would've just refurbished it.
Es gibt ein PC Game - The Bunker - welches basierend dieses britischen Regierungs Bunker erstellt wurde.
Nur zur Info für Bunker Fans. Ich habe das Game schon 2 x gespielt.
Danke für dies interessante Video.
Please show more 4K on RUclips all video please 😊👍👍👍👍👍
That’s the Kelvendon Hatch bunker. I’ve been - it’s interesting but the museum part of it was insanely amateurishly run. It was crazy.
They also exposed soldiers to some of those blast, (Operation Grapple) Soldiers reported seeing the bones in their hands or the hands of others when they shielded their eyes.
What happened to the 🐐 Goats? 🇨🇦
Ashes to ashes, dust to dust
Biggin Hill is a good place for the Spitfire flights.
That black basket next to the books for the at 37:37 are from an ASDA delivery van (like walmart)
They are talking about opening the American bunker at RAF Uxbridge.
There are arrows on the floor instructing which way to go so you dont miss anything. For some reason, you chose to make your own route?
The largest Nuclear bomb in known US inventory is the B83 which is 1.2 megaton or 1200 kilotons. It’s really sad that the U.S. hasn’t preserved old bunkers in this fashion for tours. We can only,y imagine how many have been built and decommissioned since WW2 era without many even knowing about them. I only know of one Nuclear Missile silo that has been kept in original condition for public display.
Hey guys! Can you make a video about the grey water system in a bunker?
I can't find any video on RUclips explaining where does the grey water goes...
Appreciate
My late father was one of the guys who installed the communications systems
hi, lol i was wonderring when u was here,i live nearer mildenhall, love in past driving out essex and seeing secret bunker on road signs, would love to own a huge bunker.
in all my life never even visited the place,i have spent decades hoping i could win the lottery so i could buy a bunker home for my cult to actually live in with a life above, lately thinking try get millions of subs vlogging and get utube paying for my dreams :D
FIRST! I LOVE ATLAS!
Ron, if you and your companion are still in the UK, are you likely to host an event? Would really appreciate a response regarding one of your bunkers to be installed in the UK. Please do respond.
Thanks in advance.
Tony
The goats were the most sane animals there. No goat would make such a weapon
I always wondered… are these the people we need to save? Same people who got us into a Nuclear War or people who didn’t know they were heading into a Nuclear War…
Makes you think, who you want to lead after the war…
That is one big bunker
I wonder what the new bunker looks like.🧐.....27:21 You sunk my battleship....................................🥃🚬
Great video. But that entrance fee is a small fortune.
So this was the British equivalent of the bunker under the Greenbrier Estate?
Stalin's bunker was about 220 feet deep. And he had a special tunnel to flee central Moscow and hide out deep under a big athletic stadium miles away on the edge of town.
Secret bunker with a sign for the carpark 🤔😀
They say the prime minister would have been here but it’s unlikely, it was the regional gov head quarters for London the prime minister would have been somewhere else
What happened those cute little goats? Waste of good feta cheese and curried goat with rice n peas if you ask me , ouch😂
I've been to Kelvedon Hatch a few times now and it is ashame you ran through it so quickly and didn't take the time to read all of the information and follow the arrows on the floors to follow the tour in order. there is so much information and history you missed.
For anyone interested i've taken 360 pictures of the entire bunker, i'll post a link if anyone wants to see.
We want a tour of CP’s bunker😂
CP admitted he doesn't have a bunker. Just a bug out location.
@ don’t be naïve
Why according to him we should have been nuked 6 times and we are on like WW5 by now.
Some of the Operation Crossroads ships are of the Japanese Imperial Navy (captured) and some others are decommisioned US Navy ships. All of the ships are contaminated and cna´t still in use even for nuclear tests.
What happened to the goats?
Would the $50million include the 6 foot thick cobalt re-enforced concrete skin of the bunker?
If someone hired you to build a contemporary version of a 600-person bunker, what would you bid on the project?
What happened to the goats? 💥🤯
Ouch ! What happened to the goats ?
They did not live past 2 weeks Radiation got them
@@AtlasSurvivalSheltersShocking I tell you, shocking 🤣
Goats? What goats?😝💣💣💣🐐🐐🐐
All the local sirens were removed years ago in my local area. I guess it would be sent out via mobile phones nowadays.
theres still.sirens in my area mayne due to not everyone having mobiles....they went off accidentally (back in 1982 i think) it was the scariest thing ive experienced to this day
@@steve-vx3lx Quite probably a test? I remember the local sirens being tested in 1991 just as the first Gulf War started. Funny how priorities were established that day. It was some time after that our local sirens were removed.
Only 600!🤠🇺🇸
Could you show us something more recent? Historically the cold war era bunkers are interesting, but would like to see what is possible in the 21st century - have seen some youtube docus about bunkers in finland that are partially used as discos and data vaults with modern architecture - more room, better lightning /sun spectrum light to fight depression and led to lower power consumption but have no dark spots/. Guess something built during or shortly ww2 partially renovated during cold war, partially left as it is or left rotting, would like to see what the capabilities are f.e. for zuckerbergs hawaii resort with 21st century high tech, or the doomsday bunkers in new zealand.
I went in there about 1998
Ollie ever been to Sea World in Orlando? If you have, you know.
Fraid not. I've been to Orlando though never visited Seaworld
I visited here almost 2 years ago to the day lol
The employee who said built in 70s prob was confused with when it had some upgrading
it can still be used they didnt show the canteen
Bunker Baby 🤣
This was a ROTOR bunker and wouldn't have had the prime minister at best shadow cabinet persons, the prime minister and their cabinet would have gone to one of the primary bunkers.
Ron THROW THAT CAMERA IN THE TRASH! Get a new camera with at least 60FPS. For 1080P you should be recording in 120FPS. Don't record another video until you get higher FPS. The tearing and motion blur is so bad.
I hate to sound like a jerk. But you’re only going to these places one time and when you rewatch the video. You can tell right away what I’m talking about. I did watch your whole video from start to finish…..
Essex is an English county, so the whole area is called Essex.
