SEA OF BINTHENNA, SORABORA LAKE, MAHIYANGANA ,SRI LANKA.
Sorabora wewa(tank) situated about 3.5km away from mahiyangana town Badulla district in Sri lanka. It was called the 'sea of binthenna" In the ancient past. History of the tank goes back to the 2nd century B.C. . Folk lore say, it was constructed during the reign of king dutugamunu by a strong man or giant named Bulatha.Sorabora lake is one of the most important creations of Sri lankans ancient irrigation technology. Because it's sorowwa(sluice gate) was made using the natural rock.(cut a deep canal)
