You need to send a Tweet to RUclips telling them that TC has been illegally and fraudulently copyright claiming videos. That’s pretty much the only way RUclipsrs have been able to get RUclips’s attention about matters like this. Making videos and posts like this may not be enough.

@@segfault- I looked at all your other comments and I agree with you but also disagree with you. this isn’t demonizing acid, it’s a specific set of circumstances that caused acute psychosis. Amphetamines/Phenidates (ADHD Meds) can easily cause psychosis and acid can in very rare cases or if used for a prolonged duration daily. While acid isn’t addictive in the sense other drugs are, it can still be abused. I’ve seen people use acid for days on end either because it’s literally their drug of choice (usually because it makes them feel a emotional connection with a higher power) and people use acid daily bc they were addicts with no other drug. One person I am very good friends with got CPTSD and dissociative episodes all from it. I’m not against acid but you gotta know the facts and risk if you’re going to do things like that.

Things just keep escalating. First it's unreasonable demands (wanting everyone to do expensive analysis), then he goes and contacts someone's family without permission or cause. So far it's just silly high school behavior, you'd think someone with a Ph.D. would be cut from better cloth than that. But now he's fraudulently abusing the youtube copyright system for.... i don't even know. This is extremely petty to take down a video that only mentions you, and not even in a negative way. Imagine how utterly stupid it would be if you could be copyright struck for citing someone's paper. He should know better having written a thesis where he undoubtedly cited hundreds of papers before him. I honestly worry what will happen next at his current trajectory.
It wasn't always like this. When I spoke to him he was an intelligent, collected guy focused on doing good chemistry and building a good community free of drama. Now he's become the very cause of the drama we've all been trying to avoid. I don't know him well enough to say whether its the drugs, some underlying medical issue, or whether he's been this way all along and just fooled us. But whatever it is, it's sad what he's become. I do hope he finds his way back to the badass chemist he was. I don't recognize this person.

Further solidified by the fact I was making free test kits at the time and couldn't give them away for free. I'd test stuff for people, confirm it was mystery cathinones, and they would snort two lines instead of the one they planned to when they thought it was a 2c or MDMA.
Then they reordered into smaller more cultish groups, each with a little Messiah figurehead. This sounds like Amphetamine Psychosis more than anything. Mixing amphetamines and hallucinogens sensitizes you a LOT to amphetamine psychosis (MDMA/MDA is usually fine (compared to most others) as it's more a psychedelic than amphetamine in terms of effects, but still carries **some** risk). One common thing among people suffering from it is a peculiar obsession with powerful things, often things like god/religion or the police. Not necessarily in terms of Paranoia, but sometimes in that vein too. The added delusions of grandeur and whatnot also kinda coincide with that. It's a shame it happened to him but that doesn't mean you have to just sit there and take it. Hope he figures his shit out and gets back on the meds. Sorry you're having to deal with the fallout.

I can't say for certain from an actual brain chemistry standpoint but I feel like mdma would be safer than mda in that regards because mda feels a lot more like a normal amphetamine, mdma is very much more of a psychedelic but mda has a lot more stimulant properties than mdma oddly enough. Like you'd guess that mdma would be being built on a stronger amphetamine but good quality mdma just makes ya wanna lay around and chill like how mushrooms do whereas mda is a lot more stimulanty like how acid is compared to mushrooms

@@amogusenjoyerso psychosis can persist much longer because it’s a structural change in neural pathways more so than purely chemical. Amphetamines increase the susceptibility to forming those pathways (mostly through serotonin). Combined with psychedelics that also increase serotonin and especially encourage new pathways it’s a really high risk thing. If it was mild most people can correct it with time, but like most mental disorders it’s self reinforcing if severe enough.

@@amogusenjoyer ohhhh no. Not with how I'm referring to here. If it's just the effects of long term amphetamine usage, then that's just existing within the effects of amphetamines and your lived experience (no matter how deluded or false) of life through the fucked lens of amphetamine abuse stacking up over time. I wouldn't quite call that psychosis. What I'm referring to is when there's actual systemic breakdown, whether via a breakdown/scrambling of signaling within the brain (whether due to degeneration of neurons or just unrecoverable signaling issues), or what @-bamks mentioned about the generation of new pathways under a bad or metaphorically/literally toxic environment. Sometimes it's permanent, but usually it needs medical intervention. Rarely, to my knowledge, does it just clear up. Often, people who experience it, regardless of the intensity, just don't get help due to fear of being committed (because often those care centers are horrifically abusive and almost worse than most prisons. Almost everyone I know who has been has come out more traumatized than they went in.), and then they just end up sustaining even more brain damage from their brain misfiring to the point of destruction. It's just fucked.

    • @Groovewonder2
      @Groovewonder2 Месяц назад

@@noodlelynoodle. So, MDMA actually breaks down into MDA in the liver. MDA has a lower molar weight, so in a gram of the substance, you're getting more molecules of the drug in the same weight. I believe the difference comes from it being stronger within the same dosage, but also taking longer to work its way through your system due to the missing methyl group. Either way, their primary effect is just hitting the dump switch on your serotonin network and slamming the pedal through the floor (it effects adrenal and dopaminergic systems, but to more an incidental than intentional degree). This is why sex (especially the climax) on either is often incredibly difficult/impossible as your brain struggles to/can't push the pedal any harder to keep it up/gather the signaling for the spike of an O. However, with Meth, for example, it has a much, MUCH larger effect on your dopamine network, and is known for actively creating new (bad) connections within that network as it actively rewires your reward pathways (among others). The average adult brain only has 6000-8000 neurons in the dopamine network, so it's pretty sensitive to alterations, whereas serotonin receptors are EVERYWHERE around the body, from your brain to the lining of your gut (hence why MD(M)A often gets you a little nauseated on the comeup. Serotonin receptors in there are ramping up and cross through the signaling associated with nausea).
And as a side note about the sensitivity of the dopamine network, to draw another example of how sensitive it is (⚠️trigger warning: CSA mentioned⚠️), did you know that victims of CSA (primarily those assigned male at birth) often become hypersexual because that part of the tiny dopamine network gets fried from being activated too early and can more or less (gross oversimplification here) get stuck permanently on? Doesn't happen to everyone, but it's literal brain damage. The effect is (tmk) most frequent with younger victims (pre-pubescent), but it's absolutely nuts that it basically forces an overclock on unfinished silicon and scuffs it.

Regarding the psychosis, I'd like to make a note from a psychiatric perspective. I would categories the effect of acute psychosis as one where disordered and chaotic associations, and perceptions affected by over representation of these associative patterns, alters or creates belief structures that persist beyond the acute state.
This is to say that, there is no fundamental change in brain "chemistry", but more a rewiring has occured, some of which may be enlightening, but also be much more likely to lead to delusions and false beliefs.
It is a change in brain state that persists rather than a change in function.

I don’t think there’s enough time under the curve in a single to really form enough new connections to be the explanation. It’s just shown you ways of thinking that are very different, and you probably wouldn’t be able to get there naturally without meditation or an imbalance. The glimpses from perception while experiencing a drug can have a significant or discordant enough of an impact, that they don't leave the mind after the effects of the drug have worn off. In terms of psychosis, for example, the feeling of having glimpsed a hidden reality/patterns/meanings during a drug induced episode can in turn lead to symptoms such as paranoia, delusions of grandeur, or the belief of thought insertion/extraction.

At that point you are altering your internal brain restructure permanently or even damaging certain cells ability to produce and interact with the right (amount of) neurotransmitters. The brain is a slow system in terms of healing, and it takes a long time to bounce back after using such strongly impacting drugs, it is barely regenerative and any damage is mostly permanent. After a few years of drug abuse I learned how to use drugs responsibly and now no longer abuse drugs. ~95% of the drugs I have experimented with in the past I no longer use at all, as I have found it difficult to responsibly use them myself. It's sad when someone in STEM falls apart and can no longer help advance science. We need more people in research, not less. I hope some day That Chemist finds the help he needs so he can lead a productive and happy life.

I have to say that this whole topic makes me sad. Not your response of course, I'm sorry you're going through this. I really enjoyed the various videos That Chemist made and appreciated his idea of using more analytical approaches within his videos. Also, ironically in this case, his literature review videos were informative and something different from the practical chemistry side that is popular. I was wondering why he stopped making as many videos. To find out that it seems he's really struggling with some mental health issues, self-inflicted or not, is a real shame. My brother struggled with mental health and it eventually led to him passing away. I really hope that TC manages to make a recovery and get his life back on track. EDIT: And also, you know, paying employees.

I don't see clear evidence that he realizes what he's doing. When someone is in the middle of
psychosis, even mild, it can make it very difficult to impossible to notice that they're acting in a way that is inappropriate. Yes, even if you tell them. Trying to convince them doesn't work. A key part of psychosis IS precisely the lack of awareness.
And sadly, no, you cannot just shake them out of it, and you can't talk them out of it, they need professional medical help ASAP.
In my experience the best bet is to be kind and stay close to them and keep trying to convince them that medical help is good for them and that it will not hurt them to seek it.

This is very very tragic and very close to home for me. one of my cousins who i am close with suffered a catastrophic reaction to a massive dose of LSD at a music festival in the 70's. no one had any idea where the LSD came from and they could never even determine why it "fried her brain." There is a medical term for what happened, but we always just called "fried". Its the only real explanation. She went in person A and came out person Z when she "recovered" and was never the same for the next 40 years of her life. with ONE exception. She had an absolutely massive seizure that nearly killed her a few years ago. She survived the seizure and it was like her brain had reset and she was 20 years old again before she had drug induced psychosis. My only regret for this was not spending even more time talking with her. She was fully aware that she had spent the last 40 years mentally fried and she was just kind of in awe that the veil was lifted. The doctors said such a thing can happen with seizures like she had and that she will slowly revert to being "fried" again. It took about 3 months for her to go back to fried mode, but i at least got a few holidays with her as her true self. I love my cousin and her life was completely destroyed by getting in with friends that were willing to rip massive doses of acid from a complete stranger.
The only advice i could give for someone who has a friend or loved one that has a permanently changed personality is that you can only manage them now. you have to learn to set firm boundaries and learn to be extremely firm with them, even be an asshole to them. The person may now try to steal from you, may even try to hurt you or other people. You may not be able to trust them in the same way. but they are still a person and part of them is still in there and they still deserve dignity and care. and it takes way more than a few people to help care for someone who's brain is fried like that. if you are lucky they can care for themselves, but that may not be possible. Its kind of like having a friend die, but only half dead. its very hard to explain unless you experience it

Absolutely insane hearing all this drama all at once. A lowly biochem undergrad thanks you for your service

Claiming copyright on a chemical synthesis (or any other method) is just bonkers. These can be only patented (or might fall under other 'industrial rights', but these generally have to be registered, and definitely shouldn't be asserted through YT's copyright claim system).
The only thing that falls under copyright in this case is the paper itself (ie. its text, images, any accompanying source code, etc - not the concepts explained within).

Also, technically if you don't sell or give away patents you can follow them. Patents are a right on making a monopoly of a new product. If you don't sell or provide the product to others, you're not breaking the monopoly

Well, I definitely had the sense the Dr was “in society with” people he should keep out if he wanted to be healthy, and it seemed like it might have to do with the stream/YT.

I love how you calmly present documented evidence and screenshots of literally every claim you make to back them up and prove all your points. Joey has completely lost his mind and I honestly feel sorry for him at this point and hope he gets the help he needs.

I STAN with chemiolis!! Dude this is sad... Josiah had already shown signs of this kind of shit, listen the Hamilton morris podcast with him and he talks about ruining a Brasilian guy who published fake articles and though that was a legitimate case, Josiah just wanted to roast him and humilliate him without even talking to him

As a dutchie with a background in chem (and experience with "mind expansion" and the hazards) I'm proud of you. I hope Joey gets help, the ego inflation etc does happen more often than ppl think yea.. idk what part of it is envy of your talent and content, I've been kicked off of a discord before of someone who just couldn't fathom that I knew better about something fundamental (to mycology). It's sad
