Apparantly, my laptop was using the Integrated Graphics to drive the television as well. depositfiles.com/files/tl03wori2 So, unless your laptop has a MUX switch, it will use integrated graphics for display and dedicated graphics card for other tasks.
@@bubbles5611 You need to make sure that you are connecting the output port of your device to the monitor. Also, there are two types of adapters. One is for converting HDMI to VGA and the other one is for converting VGA to HDMI. So, you need to make sure that you are using the correct ports and adapters.
I think sir after you plug the VGA to HMDI cable, you must hit "windows+p" on your PC. and select show secondary screen only. Try iif that works and update me. Thank you!
doesn't work I bought one and out of the box it doesn't work lol. I have an old dell desktop PC and it only has VGA and my TV has HDMI I tried connecting them using this adapter and it didn't display anything... the VGA cable is fine and works with VGA ports but not on the adapter.

If it has a dvi port you can use an hdmi to dvi cable, just make sure it is the right type of dvi

Don't connect it to your motherboard, connect it directly to graphic card port.
But few of these products contains actual working IC at the VGA end. Some of the high end ones have these ICs to process the signal

It might be possible that the HDMI to VGA adapter that you were using earlier broke down. Try replacing the HDMI to VGA adapter with a new one.

Please tell me about your laptop model. It will connect to the GPU only if the HDMI port is routed through the GPU inside the motherboard.

The vga converter may be faulty
But these converter aren't good to transmit the signal. Mostly they say out of signal. Or they blinks now and then
