As an intermediate rider I find your videos very useful! Not only beginners should watch it. Your videos made me re-think some of my techniques. Thanks for the time and effort you're putting in these videos!
Really good, can’t wait to try this! Reminds a lot of a couple different ways you can bunny hop a mountain bike… manual vs meerkat … this seams a lot like the stand tall like a meerkat pulling the bars to your hips
I was thinking the same thing. I didn't know there were different bunny hop techniques though, just what we did as kids. Trials has made me rethink getting a bmx bike to play around on.
Great video Tom. Looks like you and I are on a very similar path and experience so far. It's great to see the others in the group thinking analytically all the time. It's amazing how quickly we can progress.
For sure. It's amazing how studying the body movements of pros can change how we ride. I record and analyze myself a lot and I believe it's paying off.
Great stuff again Tom. This is great reinforcement for what Neil has been teaching, and I love how you put your own points into it. I’m soaking up as much knowledge as I can, so keep it up please!! Awesome bathroom scale and tire swing anology!
Dude I absolutely love this video, I bought a ktm 125xc and realized this is not the way to learn enduro and trials skills, so I will be selling it and get me a trials bike to learn. Thanks also for sending me to Neil, I will definitely sign up to his course
Your teaching technique is spot on! Love these videos. I have found exactly the same as you where most of the online stuff, the riders are so good that they don’t understand what they do, they just do it. I’m an ex British Champion road racer and club champion enduro rider, but in trials, very much a shite clubman rider trying to learn and teach my kids. As such, the way you’re breaking this down is perfect for me. Thank you, please keep going 😎
Fantastic explanation, thank you so much. I love the way you break it down to a level I can understand. I can understand, I just can't do it...yet. Keep the info coming, I need it.
Really enjoyed this video. I’m coming to the end of my first year. It’s really taken me this long just to get good posture and balance on the bike. I’m now looking to fine tune my technique to attempt bigger hazards. I’m definitely going to try the RSG it seams so simple and the fact you broke it down to explain the posture and body shape is really helpful. As you said the pro rider instructions tend to leave out that stuff but without it you just can’t do the trick.
@@TrialsProgression totally I think the fact that the top riders make it look effortless adds an element of frustration but also the hunger to get better. Keep going with the content, it’s great to see someone slightly ahead of me in this journey, especially when you tell us how long it took you to get things right. Kinda makes me think ok, I’m not the only one who didn’t get how to splat after three attempts 😃 👍🙌👍
Great explanations. Just picked up a trials bike, but not much time on it. I like the RSG approach as it eliminates the timing on the loading the engine at the right time. Will have to start trying this. Also have an enduro bike and can hit decent size steps using what is likely a mixed up splat / zap technique (do know as I have never filmed it). I can wheelie at all on open ground. I need the assurance of the ledge to know the I am not going to overcook things. That is slowly starting to change as I have been able to ride up over smaller obstacles while holding pressure on the back or carry the front wheel further over obstacles like roots or rocks.
Awesome! I'm sure you'll get there as it seems you are driven. With trials wheelies, you can do them going tao slow and bike is smaller so you can just jump off back if too high with front. I've got a whole playlist with short vids on wheelies. Cheers.
Great Vid amigo. I am down here in Chile, and have joined a trials club - more like a couple friends that like to get together and get dirty. I always feel like these skills are well above my skill level - and they are, but you give me hope with the way you describe the motions, and seeing your progress. thanks again for the great work.
Hola Cornbread! Yeah, I started trying things in the wrong order myself. Macho desires watching the pros I guess. Lol. 🤣 Balence, throttle and clutch control and turns. Here's a playlist on Turns: ruclips.net/p/PLr9WXGyccAG9Oam76ZnaEZvT6HuGozhcw and if you're looking to learn skills in order, consider becoming a member where I have started a curriculum. 😉
You are welcome. I was hoping to try to save people time and energy by compressing the things I've learned all in one place. Might have made for too long of a video though 🤷
@@TrialsProgression I dont think its too long, theres a lot of stuff to fit in and all the subtleties add up to getting it done. It would be interesting knowing how many hours it takes to get consistent at it 😆🤣
@@mrr4350 to get consistent at splats or the RSG Exercise? Boy, all depends on your learning curve. I'd say if you already do wheelies and have good clutch control, then RSG takes maybe 100 hours of dedicated practice. Rough guess
I cant even wheelie or use rear brake yet, but coming from bicycling, I instinctively use throttle to make kind of a boosted "bunny hops" or "pedal ups". Essentially a small splatter. I have used this to clear 1.5m gaps from standstill, or go over small obstacles like stumps etc. I still can clear bigger obstacles on my bicycle but man the moto trials bike feels like it has a huge potential once get to fully tame it. A 250 2 stroke really was quite a handful the first times for someone never ridden motorized 2-wheelers. xD
Great video, thanks! When you do the squat, do you sometimes have problems with hitting the rear brake when doing the squat? I already adjusted mine a bit lower but still having issues with sometimes pushing on the rear brake when doing the squat.
Great question. I turn my right toe out to the side and am NOT covering rear brake during squat. Check out the below video and skip to 1:23 ruclips.net/video/QChLiMcGQf4/видео.html
@@TrialsProgression Thanks! Hmm, interesting. But how do you prevent tip overs then? Do you go back to covering the rear brake once the squat is done and the front is in the air? I find this especially hard with the squats where you bend the knees (for a splat) as by bending the knees my front part of the foot moves down on the peg hitting the brake.
Was good to see your clutch work when you were just pulling a wheelie early on in this vid. Most vids skip over this stuff and expect people to already know. Was a bit concerned about working out and weighing yourself though 😂
I don't know how long it's going to take me but I just got my first trials bike and I am on a mission to make it up the roof of a car one day thanks for the tips
🤣 the roof? Well, enjoy the journey. That's a some goal. 😉 Might just focus on balence, clutch and throttle control and turns for a while if you're new. The big stuff will come. 👊

Hey man! I know Neil Price personally and he’s an awesome guy. Extremely helpful, I’d recommend his content any day of the week.

I love the fact you break it down to physics, leverage and momentum. A thinking man
Sometimes I spend TOO much time thinking about motorcycles 😆
That is the best break down and explanation. But 20 times a month practice!! It's going to take me a few years!!
Thanks mate. Yeah, I ride almost everyday that I can. Great way to burn stress and reset after work.
I watched this video and learned how to balance while watching. Made it to no handed by the end. Great video.
