So glad you’re ok and also important that we don’t have to come and look for you downstream! 😂 I don’t think I’m going to watch this on my large screen laptop as I planned. I’m sure I’d jump back when the dam lets go. Maciej, throwing the rake over the side at about one hour, made me 😂 …. Thank you my friend❣️Take care and hello to Kasia….

    I more than anything do find the flowing of water immensely satisfying. I used to love beaver dam removal videos, but I have since realized how much ecological value such structures add by slowing the water, recharging the aquifer, making the plants downstream grow much more resilient to changes in weather, and not to mention providing habitat for countless species by creating diversity in riverscapes with side channels and ponds of varying depths. And they do all of that for free.
    Post10 only does removals when a dam creates a hazard to infrastructure and I find that approach muuch more ecologically sound.
    There are plenty of other channels on yt that have information on river restoration efforts and the true value of beavers and their dams, how some people pay hundreds of thousands of dollars to create log structures to mimic the beaver dam for nature restoration, water storage, erosion control, all that good stuff.
    I know this provides financial incentive to you, but perhaps you can assess with the above information, if your next dam removal is doing good or harm to the environment. Summers are hotter than ever, and beaver dams simply cannot burn.
    Cheers mate.

      this is probably a very common childhood fantasy playing out on a more realistic and less fatal scale then imaginations may wonder off to lolz. Kind of cool though that it rebuilds itself so you get to do it again over and over again. Would be cool if you made minature buildings people etc somewhere on current land in the flood zone would make for an interesting video to. Still cool enough just to see people breaking up a beaver dam. Its a cycle, you let it build up for a while, then you remove some. Its not as if we don't want them here, they are important. :)

    Hi. Beavers are good planners. Their buildings cause water retention in the forests. Destroying the dam is not always a good idea.

    • @pm5903
      @pm5903 Год назад +47

      Good builders...not planners. They build in order to protect themselves and their family, not to plan ahead for ecological reasons. 99% of the time, their dams cause catastrophic problems for the land, grasses, trees, and even displaces a large area of wildlife, insects, etc. not to mention the problems it causes for farmland areas down stream, housing down stream, and since the dams leak off and on, it causes changes and inconsistencies in erosion which can lead to abnormal flooding during certain weather conditions like an El Nino or El Nina and can even cause sink holes to form in the forest due to ground saturation causing abnormal changes in the water table. This is all of course just to mention only a few things. 😊

      It's okay to remove it because it can cause flood in nearby house if you don't remove it

      Doubtful. He knows beaver dams are beneficial to the local ecology, and mostly just takes the ones that are blocking bridges/culverts. He knows better than to ruin the primary pond of a beaver, as that would probably ultimately kill them.

    Good evening from Western Australia Maciej. Twice I’ve seen different videos of yours. copied. RUclips should have better copyright protection. So much pressure behind the dam and drained very quickly to. You have a lot of stamina. Love the countryside. Keep well AND safe. God bless.

    Taking out a beaver dam by hand is EXTREMELY dangerous!!!
    In have done it 23 years ago!
    All of the sudden, the water column behind the dam is coming at you!
    The weight and force is tremendous!!!
