It's amazing what those Zodiacs can go through and keep floating. I used to survey in one in the civilian world with a little sonar unit hung off the side so we could map rivers, reservoirs, etc. for hydro power companies. Like the Wizard said, when they open up the dam intakes to get more electricity flowing, the water current starts to haul some serious ass, and in the Rockies there's *tons* of fallen trees with sharp broken branches perfect for puncturing. Thankfully, the inflatable tubes on those boats are compartmentalized with inner walls so that if you do lose one section, the other sections will keep on going. We'd be bailing ice-cold water out (a lot of the sites we were on are glacier-fed) with a big ice cream pail trying not to let our electronics get submerged, but the Zodiac would stay afloat until we finished several more hours of sounding. When the engine died, though, that's when we were at the full mercy of the river. We lost power and started spinning, going probably 30 knots with zero steering (our one paddle didn't do jack). We were about 600 meters upstream from some rapids and we had no helmets so I got up on the motor and wrapped my legs around it then hung off the side of the craft so I could grab onto the trunk of a tree when we came near the shore. It felt like I was going to get ripped in half, but my co-workers grabbed my legs and we managed to finally haul the thing onto land. My arms were chowder with hunks of bark stuck in them afterwards, but our boss would have probably done worse if we lost all our gear. I know it's nothing compared to the ops and exercises frogmen do, but I have profound respect for you guys who are working in combat conditions with shit like that to deal with. I've heard of being in "the suck," but tactical suit-pooping in an SDV just to *start* your day is on a whole other level. Thank you guys for never quitting.
Bit I overloaded a zodiac with 9 scuba tanks and the floor went out when we hit a wave off Santa Barbara. All but one chamber went out but it was enough to hang onto while we waited for the CG. Dumbest thing I’ve ever done.

I Love SCI good times out there. I was support for y'all love this stuff.
Marcus always looks so uninterested in their stories lol...
Who is the 1st guy? with the high school story about some slob shitting his drawers?
Captain Bart they’re all seals... it wasn’t a high school story it was a training story 😂
