    About Kalakendra/SanskritiSeries:
Kalakendra is presented by Swathi Soft Solutions, a Chennai based IT company that has distinguished itself for its slick interpretations of the Arts and Sciences of ancient India using innovative technologies.
Kalakendra is a small but significant effort to expose the hitherto un-projected facets of India's vibrant tradition and enable the world to appreciate the civilizational greatness of the country. As a portal, it will showcase all that is India is synonymous with - Yoga, Vedas, Bharathanatyam and Other forms of Indian Dance, Carnatic Music or the South Indian Classical Music, Hindustani or the Musical Traditions of Northern India - or simply any Indian art.
    Single Price Policy
Kalakendra.com strongly believes in a 'single price' policy for all buyers across the globe. All our products are priced same for any customer buying from anywhere in the world, paying in any currency. It may be noted that the prices in US Dollar are often in fractions which is misunderstood as a marketing gimmick similar to the one resorted to by a major footwear manufacturer. But the fact is our tariff is driven by the Maximum Retail Price (MRP) in Indian Rupee, which is converted into Dollars at the existing exchange rate.

OMG, even after achieving so much he's so humble. He says that he feels nervous to play in front of legends, does he even realize he himself is a legend?

There are two instrumentalists in carnatic music who could play the notes with utter grace and skill and they are Lalgudi Jayaraman and U.Srinivas.. This event is a befitting one to show the compositions of the former being played by the latter. Nothing could have excelled this!!

Was listening to U. Srinivas, who this Jewish boy from Boston and the high peaks of the White Mtns., absolutely adores, and googled something about him and up came the story of his death two weeks ago. His music has given me great joy since I first encountered him in Remember Shakti ten or so years ago. I've listened to a lot of his work, some of it to my taste and some of it not, without regard to genre. His ability to make my heart soar is up there with the best: R. Shankar, Clapton, Coltrane, Hendrix, M. Davis, and even McLaughlin at his best. Some of the music on the three Remember Shakti CDs is as beautiful as anything I've heard in my long life. Srinivas's collaborations and songs played with his fellow South Indian musicians are equally amazing. The interplay with tablaists and violin and other instruments is just extraordinarily creative and engaged. Highly recommend the albums Mandolin Melodies and Modern Mandolin Maestro. The song Ninnuvina on Mandolin Melodies just takes my breath away--It is Love Supreme with drone!
I'm not religious, and so not sure what to say. As one of the "fortunate ones", music has played a central role in my life since the mid-1960s. Srinivas is one of the Great Ones. Thanks to NPR for letting me know!
This video itself is very very beautiful. Srinivas is just stunning in performance.

the loss of mandolin srinivas is an irreparable loss to the world of music world........his humility his humaneness and his modesty new no bounds, his music on the mandolin was divine,it became more grander and transcending in his ambi-dextorous hands,he summoned the divinities to this earth by his unremitting music,he was a messenger of sublime music that brought humanity in its clasp.........the fact that he not with us any more leaves a very big void.... a very saddening thing is that he died so young,,,,,,may his soul reach the sreepadangal of sriman narayana................
