@@StrangeBrainParts You should make videos like "Comicbooks that should be adapted into live-action tv-series" to increase ur audience. Your execution is very good.
I also love how the entire series was a revenge story about a father being set on fire and shot.. his daughter plotted to take down all of them, while Agent Graves did too due to Medici plotting to gain absolute power.
Trivia insert: my favorite explanation for the briefcase in Pulp Fiction is that it's glowing contents are Marsellus Wallis' soul, the bandaid on the back of his neck covers the site where the soul was extracred.
The biggest problem with 100 bullets was that the elevator pitch was just too good. They could've easily made a whole anthology series out of Graves handing out attaché's to ordinairy people who've been wronged. Still, an amazing achievement and one of the greatest collaborations between writer and artist in the history of comic books.
Ha! That was me, my good man, I was begging you for a while.. I even tried to gather enough money to give to you. It’s an incredible comic.. I promise once it gets adapted to a live action series, it’s going to blow up something insane. I know this comment is two years old, but I still recall me asking you to make it into a motion comic, because you’re the greatest in that genre, and I feel only YOU can do it justice.. I do hope one day you might look into doing so, and seeing your comment here gives me hope, even tho it’s two years old.
Man, I LOVE your comics reviews! You always manage to put things in a way that gives me food for thought and sometimes that I missed when I read those same comics. Keep up the good work!
With all its faults, this series remains a favourite of mine. I loved the crossing of stories between the a-characters with that of the one-off b-characters, because their stories always mirrored each other. It proves Shakespeares theory of there only being 7 stories which WE Tell each other, true
I always find the beauty in a series is built not by its limitlessness, but its ability to set limits and then subvert your expectations in a logical way within them. Thanks for this video, one of my favorite comic series of all time.
Cool to see a new video. I’ve been interested in this series, based solely on a few compelling cover designs. My comic shop had some trades cheap awhile back, I’ll keep a more motivated eye on the series going forward
Just realised what this book reminded me of, a strip called Button Man written by John Wagner for 2000AD. Essentially, bored rich people hire 'buttonmen' to kill each other, battle royale style, across the world. Not really all that similar in the way it plays out rather the same sort of general concept but taken a different way.
Oh man I really want to watch this video but I haven't read the series and don't want to spoil it for myself; back in a bit. I can't express how much you inform my reading list. Keep up the amazing videos at whatever pace makes you happy!
Remember when I asked about a Tom Strong video you never made. Turns out I was thinking of your Black Hammer video. What confused me was the similer looking vintage robots.
Everything connected, every story, and every plot connected to an overall theme.. it’s in the details, especially with CounterFith Detective.. he was a Minute Man who fought against the waking up code word, and decided he rather live the life he has.. the sad fact was? Lono really liked him a lot, and respected him, but ended up smoking him unknowingly.. My favorite storyline was the Animal, him being a stone cold junkie, and a street fighter for money, until he fought Lono, and Lono came in with his shirt off with the words tatted on his his stomach- even after being woke up, Jack still went forward fighting Lono, and they fought till both of them were nothing but a sack of beat up meat walking each other out of that life into being a Minute Man again.. Cole Burns is another story I loved too.. or Spain!!!
I feel like our collections are very similar. Have you thought of doing episodes on Groo, Neil the Horse, Stig’s Inferno or other “less serious” funny books?
I've definitely wanted to do Stig's Inferno. Unfortunately, it is unfinished...as I'm sure you know. Still, maybe one day I'll do a video on unfinished classics and include it there.
You got me! On videos with a 'regular' introduction I'm referencing Max Headroom. Good catch! This one needed a disclaimer first so I thought I'd jump right into the video after it. So, no regular introduction as per usual.
@@StrangeBrainParts, Selfish bastards. I appreciate the job you do. You bring attention to work that might have gone unnoticed. You have most definitely broaden my awareness of work that I passed over at the time. Now that I’m older with a little more money and time. I can catch up on what I missed, without wasting my time on the crap. Also, thank you for explaining Marvel fiasco that almost killed the industry in the 80’s. There was a lot of noise and pointing of fingers at the time. The whole industry was different after that. I remember losing a lot of my favorite titles from small time publishers after that. One was called Whisper. The typical family revenge story about a teenage girl who was a poorly trained ninja. It wasn’t great. But, it was something that I got hooked on. Apparently no one saw enough value in it to pick it up after. Or, did and I didn’t notice. Anyway, thanks again.
There are a lot of undiscovered gems from the 80's. I might have a script in process about a pile of series that seem to be forgotten. FYI: From what I remember, Whisper was pretty good. It was written by Steven Grant, if I remember correctly.
No, Lono still lived, and they had solo comics for him called My Brother Lono.. and Loopy, and ole girl, are still living too. They were the new minute men.. but, since the guy who pulled the strings behind the scenes got deleted, the entire scheme died with him.
I haven't read the book, but around the 11:50 mark where you were talking about the story deliberately leaning into detective noir tropes; the panels you chose to back this appear more Frank Miller-esque than the rest of the art in the video. A bit more angular, deep shadows, possibly scrappier and cruder details on faces etc. Is this possibly deliberate or am I just imagining things?
Nope, that's Eduardo Risso's very clear lines style that you're talking about. Risso really synthesizes the information needed using as few lines as possible while still rendering his characters and props in a very realistic manner that's very reminiscent of the classic European artists style. Man is a genius and it is too bad we don't get to see much of his artwork on mainstream comics although the crime noir genre seems very fit for his style.
(still a great video) but the whole premise just left me cold. Somehow (a lot like Y the Last Man) I just can't bring myself to give a monkeys about this title. I think it's the disconnect between entry premise and overarching story and the fact I hate conspiracies.
I haven't read this series but wanted to. Edit: you ruined this for me lol. I was more intrigued by the Ring of Gyges-style story. Knowing it's really about some grand multigenerational conspiracy makes it a meh for me
you are the most criminally underrated comics youtube channel and i can't wait to see your channel pop off.
Thank you very much! It would be great to be an overnight sensation after four years. But it's not something that motivates me.

The plot of the Trust and the Minutemen might have been borrowed from Charles Bronson movie The Mechanic (1972).

I just now understood the reference to 88 lines about 44 by the Nails. Great video!
