These were my first pair of aggressive skates. Didn't know I had gold at the time and I gave them to my younger brother who was getting interested in the sport. I was 27 at the time and thought I was done skating. He claimed he couldn't grind his local curb because of wheel bite, so he took out the middle wheels. Of course, he didn't put anything back in there, no anti-rockers, juice blocks, nothing. So he completely destroyed the frames. I got them back about 5 years later, but they were just toast. I did get a pair of USDs and got back to skating though.
Great skating Corey, it's been exciting getting back on skates after 15 years away. your level of skating is where I hope to be by end of season. Keep up the great work man!
After being on Salomons for a year I can say that during Corona they were easier to find and purchase than any current skates, and I spent more money on parts, souls, and liners in a year than I have in the past 10 combined. Definitely see both sides of the argument, but I’ve been quite happy with them now that I found the correct way to set them up.
Amazing video, so much variety it is a blast to watch, esp the bowl, half pipe, and your review. Man I just got some dead wheels based on your rec to get quality urethane - I've been riding cheap garbage wheels for a while - you are right it made a HUGE difference. Thanks! I'll have to consider famus for my next set now!
Looked like a great session! Solomon skates just keep folks coming back! I remember trying on the ST1 way back when. Most comfortable skate I'd ever tried! No wonder they're at the top of the old head list. Keep handling business!
ST80's were my first pair of skates and I remember them feeling so much better than anything else I tried in that era (Razors, I think Rollerblade TRS too). I kept going back to Salomon.. The shaping of the heel specifically as well as the whole boot in general was really what set these apart (also the lace locks too, such a simple idea that nobody else has done since weirdly) it all just seemed to work. Although, Rollerblade Solo's are basically the same to me, very similar shape heel and very similar width and the ride feels the same with the frames attached direct the boot.. If people miss Salomon then just wait until the newly designed RB Solo's come out, I expect them to feel very similar (and I think they also do individual shell sizes so you can get the fit exactly right)
I had a pair of Solomons for my first pair of skates I had the brown st90s and I loved them I actually took the ufs soul inserts when they first came out and skated them for years but now ID rather skate carbon frees they skate the same as far as grinds but without the bulkyness of the Solomon's
Gotta love a salomon vid! The cuff is my fav part too, gonna have to try em with the intuitions next time! Lookin forward to seeing what ya new skates are! 🤘
Definitely enjoyed the intuitions in them. Used a thin aeon shock plus the intuition shock and it’s the perfect height. Would’ve loved to skate the stock liners, but they were basically wet cardboard at this point.
i like the way they look. something about the silhouette. i'm glad you mentioned the cuff on these skates. they are quite unique. remind me of the oxygen argon's a little because those could slide up and down against the bolt (outside bolt only). it made topsides slightly easier.
Great video and skating! Loved how huge that mini ramp was. I actually gifted my buddy a pair of ST ONES I found for $10 a couple months ago. They were practically new too. He preferred them over his Aeons, SLs and Shimas 😂. I tried on some Solomon’s 20 years ago or so and remembered them having a backward lean like the old K2s.
Salomon STI-Pro was the first aggressive skate I ever had. The one thing I will say about that skate, is holy crap the liner moulded to your foot like a glove. It was so puffy you could barely put your foot in it. It was like Garth describing a new pair of underwear. "At first it's constrictive... but after a while it becomes a part of you." I remember my 2nd pair of skates I got were the Rollerblade Alex Broskow bandaid skates... and holy shit the liner difference was night and day.
Excellent episode, cor. What size shell were you riding here? Might have to look into buying a pair to satisfy the curiosity. Any pointers on the shell sizing would be appreciated. Thanks bud.
I rember in like 2002 when I was 12 seeing guys in Salomons killing it at Vans Skatepark in Orlando. I miss my RB TRS Details. I have Razors now and I spent $300 on them total and I tbh cannot stand them cause of the stiff squeaky shell. But i dont skate any more cause I sucked at it and barely got better. What do u think is a good low cost old skate like Rollerblade TRS? Maybe a older version of USD?
Again, I never skated the TRS series so i can’t really say what would be comparable. The rollerblading rollerblading page on Facebook may be a better resource for an answer to that question.
Sick viddy! First pair of aggressive skates for me were the ST9s. Still have them today and I have to say I would take the M12s or AEONs out any day over those now. Mainly because the boot is such a full volume boot. I feel very sloppy in them. Plus the cuffs are super floppy. Not sure if it's just the aging plastics. I would be all for Salomon making a comeback in the market though. I think they are an amazing company and one that has some great forward thinking designs skills.
Thanks man. From what I gather, the flex varies quite a bit across different models. The st one is pretty stiff. Curious if I could go down a size in these in still be okay. Not going down that road yet though.
@@coreyenglish8706 Ya I have heard mixed thoughts on the cuff stiffness across different models as well. It's always fun to hop on something different from time to time.
Interesting video. I had two pairs of salomons when I was first starting out as a kid and I just remember thinking they were the most boring skate ever and when I got my Remz Haffey 04 Ones I was so stoked. To be fair I did learn alot in the Salomon's, but they weren't as attention grabbing to me when I was younger. Funnily enough I bought a pair of barely used ST Pros with the big cheater plates a couple of months ago. Mainly cuz of the all hype I hear from others, I figured I'd see how I felt about them now. Yet to skate them, but they are squeaky as hell so I need to try and sort that first
Similar story for me. I was never in love with these back in the day. I was much more excited when I got my k2 250cc. Was fun going back to these and seeing what the hype was about because I never understood it until now.
You killed it in these, do you think you'll go back to them now and again? I only discovered your channel this week, to be honest I'm not one for blading RUclipsrs but yours is by far the most watchable and relatable, watched a few of your videos this week so far. Looking forward to more.
Thank you man! I’ll definitely be throwing the Salomons on from time to time, but the Thems are going to be my daily drivers for the foreseeable future. Appreciate the support!
Do you have used skates and can you please help me find the tall huge reign liners i ran back in my rollerblade NJ andnTRS? I used the liners when 4 of my friends uograded their SHIMA 3S to shima 4 and then i used the reign liners in my last pair of TRS from the SHIMA 5
Am I the only one who is wondering how you even managed to buy a new pair? The first skates I ever knew to have shock absorbers was my friend's brownish-grey ST8's. I remember him letting me try them out at a really terrible "skate park" and compared to my utterly busted 5th Elements, I was landing big scary 180's off the side of a miniramp and landing on clouds, with unusual ease and balance. Our best local skater who landed the longest/biggest street gap I have ever seen on the roughest ground also skated these. I think there is something to be said about their comfortable liners, too.
U wanna know bc every skate out there is not to true size an no one wants to spend almost 500 for skates salomon out beats them all the skates put it this way i just spend 300 on a pair of salomon in ebay i could went for any brend why not bc salomon shell is more on point

Seriously though. If I wanted to buy 5 pair of Salomons right now. It wouldn’t be an issue. Interesting times.

My first skates ever. Great video, man. Took me back to learning everything I know.
Salos bring back all the good memories

That’s great to hear. I have always been interested in the solo boot, but never tried it. Excited to see what rollerblade does next.

You make some quality videos fella. Good stuff.
Thank you, sir

Such an amazing park. Also props on that top mistrial on that down ledge in stock Salomons wow!
Thanks. Tried it for like 20 minutes and still didn’t get it the way I wanted, but I’m still happy with it. Park was super fun.

Man I love your music at 5:15 and that you - even if crowded - have such a great skate park^^ Much love and stay healthy man.
Thank you. 🙏

Honestly I watch your videos all the time and you've never skated so well in any other skate
It is a high quality product for sure.

My Aaron feinberg cuffs were stiff and the 'floating energizer' would not move one bit.
Killing it bro!!
Came for the Salomons, left wanting to hit Roanoke in Dallas
Yeah bro 👍👍
Any chance you’re coming to Austin, Tx next? We have a lot of great parks and I’m sure locals would be happy to join a sesh
I actually was in Austin the night after this, but didn’t have time to skate. Will be there again in late January it looks like.

I wish you luck finding them. Best bet would be on eBay or a page like Blade Trade Premium on Facebook. Everyone misses those. Tough to find.
Whay size are the wheels on the standard skate
Yes they need to take the cuff design n grove design on new skates
Best skates for rails imo

You can find them on eBay and Facebook pretty easily. These were used. I just cleaned them up a bit.
Woaaah you did an invert
Lol. Gotta relearn backflips now. Give the kids what they want.
I gotta try me some of these famous booties
10/10 recommend

First comment, Cheers Mate!!
Do you live in Texas?
No. Was just there for work on this trip.
