This tutorial should be re-uploaded as it's not really working. The chrome effect doesn't work out, and there should be a warning making sure people know to switch their document to 8bit to apply that Filter Gallery effect on a Smart Object.
Hi! Really appreciate this video -- I'm following your directions exactly, but once I get past the chrome filter, mine doesn't look the same as yours. Is there some setting I need to have changed in order for it to work?
Hey when I use the chrome effect on the filter gallery it never comes out as clean as yours at all no matter what I do to tweak the settings. Is there a fix to this??
I followed this step by step several times even , downloaded the same font and typed the same words. Every time I go to add the Chrome filter is just looks like some black swirls inside white text. The chrome look I got from the bevel is completely gone. I have adjusted my settings but nothing happens. It isn't a bad look but it is not chrome which is what I want to do.
I tried doin the same thing you did but the only difference is my preview box in styling the layer is not the same as yours :(( Why is it like that huhu
For the life of me. I have tried like 6 different tutorials and my Cs6 is not doing the effects correctly. I export the .jpeg and it looks exactly like my screen. The program itself just looks insane. Nothing like the videos. Ugh.

Hi Reuben, great tutorial. Question: once I convert type layer to smart object you instruct to go to filter gallery to choose chrome. My Filter gallery is grayed out. What am I missing? Thanks to know what I should look for so I can finish the effect. JB

Ik this is wayy late and you might have figured it out already but i had the same issue but it was because i was in the CMYK color mode instead of RGB. Once i switched to RGB it worked

3:35 Does the object have to be beveled and smart object before you can apply chrome effect? Effect won't work on rasterized object?

never mind, I figured it out, mode was on CMYK not RGB.

I found that it also only works if you're in 8bit channel
